Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

that's the best attack I've seen in my life.

There's so much to love outside of the core gameplay system.

All this cool stuff could have been implemented differently if you just retained your cards as permanent power ups, but had to spend paint to use them.

The art direction is fucking gorgeous, and I don't mind the real object cards - it's not more or less stupid than using invocations in FF to beat a boss, and funnier.

Will buy.

I mean, if you're gonna change the rpg mechanics to be 10x lighter, why not just make the series local co op somehow? That'd at least it make it interesting to mess around with

Too many toads, but those setpieces are great. Definitely mixed feelings but I'm still looking forward to this. I saw enough good writing to be interested.

This game is definitely gonna get an amiibo isn't it?

I dont think I'll ever prefer the combat system to the first two games, but it seems like they're juicing up the paper gimmicks while retaining the crazy dialogue. But with fewer character types I guess.

Considering it's on console, that'd be cool. If you controlled Mario and an original character or something... A multiplayer Mario RPG might justify having 2 Mario RPGs. They already got rid of "one is for console, the other is for handheld" distinction.

I'll definitely enjoy this a lot more than Sticker Star as long as the puzzles aren't as cryptic as they could sometimes be in that game.

Either way, day one.

OK, that actually looked pretty good. I'm just going to see it as a separate game from the original, to minimise the dissapointment of it not being an RPG.

I really wish there were more original characters though...

Game looks pretty good to me. I thought Sticker Star was fine even though it's not a traditional Paper Mario. This looks even better so I'm in.

Like, I wouldn't even mind if they went platformer Mario characters only that much if it wasn't only freaking Toads. There's more you could do with that, go crazy. Give me a Angry Sun NPCs

Goddammit that sizzle reel pulled me in again. I dunno it seems like this game would be fine if they didn't bring back so much of Sticker Star's systems. Even with every NPC being a Toad I would deal with that but just why not make it just slightly more traditional with the paint being more like FP from the original games. I just don't know how to feel about this game

This game looks greats with tons of immersion and humour and charm and originality, and a great use of paper/colour, unlike Sticker Stars which was lifeless. I couldn't care less about Toad having different designs or not, and I actually prefer the Smurf-like approach to Toads. I don't even mind the shift to an adventure game structure from the traditional RPG one. My main worry is: can you lose the objects you use for "adventure game"-like puzzles or boss battles, or not? Because that was ridiculously badly handled in Sticker Star.
