Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

Wow, I can't believe I didn't realize this, but when I was watching GameSpot's Co-Op stage for the Kinda Funny portion Colin brought up a very good point about Scorpio. Many people seem to be apprehensive about upgrading their consoles so soon. Bu then he brought up the fact that XB1 released in 2013 and Scorpio is set to release in 2017. That's four years later. XBOX (the original one) released in 2001 and 360 released in 2005. That's also four years later. I think last generation really warped the idea of how long video game generations should be. I agree with him that MS might angle it as a new generation.

That's a good point but I don't know how you market it as a new generation. Generations as we know it don't seem to exist anymore. They can make it seem like one maybe if they completely redo the OS, the controller, branding, etc. to make it seem new, but it's just Xbox now. You won't differentiate consoles when talking about it. Like if you say "Mario Galaxy" you know that person is talking about the Wii. But if you say "Quantum Break" that person is talking about just Xbox. It'll run on Xbox One, S and Scoprio.

Except that 360 was actually a new generation. Scorpio is a better version of a old console. I don't see it selling great considering a high end PC does pretty much every thing it would do (and is also targeted at the hardcore marked) and it seems like it won't have the immediate price allure of the regular consoles if it's going to be that high end and around $500-600.

The Steam Box didn't do great, I doubt this will be better unless multiplats are look and play so much better that even the average Joe can see it at a glance.

I think the shift to PC-like architecture has been the biggest thing for allowing this generational shift. I've said this before, but it's the reason I'm never miffed when a PS3 game is remastered for PS4. Those remastered games are not backwards compatible, but forwards compatible. TLOU Remastered I assume will run natively on PS5 and PS6 and so on and so forth as long as the PC-like architecture remains similar.

Yeap. I've been saying that for a while as well. I think after this year and early next year's games, I think people will be more receptive of the new hardware; especially with the guaranteed compatibility. Remember, all these rumors bubbled before big releases like UC4, Overwatch, Gears of War 4 and whole slate of holiday titles hit and people were feeling like this generation hasn't hit its stride yet.

felt like shafer's segment was the weakest, but that's just compared to everything else that each had some insane or interesting moment.

What was the metroid like game Doublefine is doing? Anyone get the name?

Jenga before the segment was dope though was that archived?

Wonder if Dan vs Lang jenga rematch will happen tonight.

Surprise surprise the Giant Bomb crew being dour contrarians? Sony could have announced the PS4 Neo was a 10 TF system and gave out one to everyone at E3 with UC4 Neo edition and Horizon early release and they'd still piss and moan about how there weren't enough presenters during the conference.

Mate, it was a rubbish Press Conference. Accept it!

i don't even have an xbox one but i've already had more fun dicking around in the controller design lab than i will probably have with anything new shown in the sony press conference over the next 6 months to a year tbh

Hey guys, I sorta fell off the GB radar for a bit, but who is the new heavier-set tan guy with the beard and glasses?

He's the one on the far right, sitting next to Dan as they watch all of the press conferences.

Austin Walker, the newest member of GB East and Gundam aficionado.

Also, he's not tan, he's black

tan 😅

It was the best presser but this anti GB post is super dumb.
I thought it was technically the best one too, but the bar was very, very low this year. Ubi still wins my vote though for the opening dance number. More theatrics at e3 please.

"Just run your finger along the toilet tank. That's what you used to be able to do in the third floor bathrooms on payday."

Hardest I laughed all E3.
