Final Fantasy XV: Airship Type-F Gameplay Trailer

Well the visuals has improved since the Uncovered footage and honestly for me it looks good enough to play. I just hope the framerate is stable.

Altissia from Uncovered looks way better. For E3 build especially notice the poor LOD on buildings and notable artifacts from their AA.

Based on what dark10x (Digital Foundry guy) said in another post, sounds positive.

Quoting it here

The section I played was on the way to the Titan as I only had a short time.

I did watch some of the PS4 version being played and it looked quite smooth as well.

I'm starting to feel confident that the performance will be taken care of by launch.

The gameplay footage shown at Uncovered looked bad though. The ones in E3 look good.

The screenshots are actually taken from the same respective footage. Here's a screencap from the E3 Altissia trailer showcasing the same poor LOD and AA.

The game generally looks stellar under foggy/misty conditions from the weather, so I think Uncovered would look better anyway.

I must be the only one who thinks Altissia looks kinda bad. :/ It seems sterile, lifeless. Also the LOD is generally really poor in this game. You are not rewarded for gazing too far into the distance...

The Witcher 3's cities however are done a lot better, even on consoles. They seem full of life and detail. The LOD is pretty good too. Especially Beauclair with it's castle imho blows Altissia out of the water:

It's capable of looking great in daytime too. E3 footage is missing a lot of the post processing and lighting fidelity we saw before.

No one is gonna argue that TW3 towns have some amazing graphic and details there. But it's just medieval town NO.463. I think the biggest appeal to Altissia is that there is nothing quite like it, ever, not just in RPGs, but games in general. There are one or two water theme towns in other JRPGs, but not in this scale.

Square should really get all hands on deck to polish this game up in the last few months before release.

And when I say all hands, I mean:

Agreed that the E3 screen caps don't look as good as stuff from Uncovered, but I'm not really that worried. For one thing, they look good enough that they won't distract me from enjoying the game.

More importantly though, I suspect that Square dialed down settings to make damn sure the game ran smoothly during demos. We still have time for optimization, especially considering a hefty day one patch is possible (more like probable, IMO).

This game could be a poster child for a neo patch, and given their willingness to cooperate with Sony on VR I think such a thing is pretty likely.

You clearly have not experienced Beauclair, it's castle, the surrounding lakes and parks then. It is a fairy tale come true.

I'm in the middle of Blood and Wine, and Beauclair really is very beautiful.

I'm not sure it's more beautiful or more impressive than Altissia though, would seem to be largely a matter of taste. I believe it's a good deal smaller though.

Actually, after seeing the Altissia footage, I was trying to think of similarly impressive towns in big RPGs and Beauclair was the only one I could think of off the top of my head!

There's room to improve LOD in Altissia though, and I still think the waterfalls are underwhelming for some reason.

Venice in AC2.

Also, this is flat out wrong. Beauclair is like a fairy tale.

That does look great, although it's a completed product, and we don't know much about how Altissia works yet.

We've only seen a couple minutes of walking through the city at various places. It will be different when we actually walk into the city during the proper time in the story, with dynamic light changes depending on time of day (and NPC schedules), and any context sensitive scenes/characters.

My impression of Altissia is that it is huge, so it feels like we've only seen a tiny bit of what it is like in the city.

well, guess we'll find out in about 15 min if it's est or pst

You're crazy man. Just from the brief glimpse of Altissia that we see it looks filled with detail and life. I'll even go as far to say that it's one of the best designed city/town of any game ever imo.

You DO know what it comes down to in the end, don't you? Person: "I want it detailed and alive in the way I think it should be, based on MY perception of what is right! This obviously doesn't fit with MY interpretation of what "full of life" and "detailed" means.

Sorta like the whole empty, barren flat land, that isn't all empty, and isn't all flat(or barren, for that matter). I think people are just pulling from personal preference.
