Check the gigabyte site?

This 1080 look awesome
Do you adjust the sliders as the program is running or do you have to restart it whenever you like to make a change? I'm assuming you're using MSI afterburner?Im benchmarking with unigine Valley currently. Im gonna do 3Dmark once Im done OC'ing
ok good. So do you run the benchmark, raise your clocks, and then rinse/repeat, or do you just run the program(not going into benchmark mode) and have it do the infinite scene loops while you raise clocks?
ASUS and MSI allegedly caught modifying BIOS for review samples to make their cards look better.
The cards TechPowerUp has been receiving run at a higher software-defined clock speed profile than what consumers get out of the box. Consumers have access to the higher clock speed profile, too, but only if they install a custom app by the companies, and enable that profile. This, we feel, is not 100% representative of retail cards, and is questionable tactics by the two companies.

What application are we talking about here? I'll probably have a Gaming X in my case next week, I don't care if I need to install an application to squeeze a bit more MHz from this beast
I restart whenever I make a change.
Im getting weird results though. Currently it doesnt seem I can go above +95 on the core without ungine valley crashing halfway through the benchmark. I also cant seem to OC the memory at all without me losing ~2FPS to my average framerate in the bench.
I've had some time to find my stable overclock on my MSI Gaming X.
I looks like I'm stable at +170 core clock and +600 Memory clock. So 2151MHz and 5605MHz. However, the card throttles down to 2115-2126.
I only had memory issues when going +700, would lose 2-3 fps, at 600 seems to be the sweet spot.
Are you seeing that reading on the afterburner overlay? I've noticed on the valleys readout it's 100mhz higher for clock, I can't get past +107 without artefacting or crashing on my X.
Are you use ungine valley or heaven? I cant even up the memory by +10 without getting an FPS drop....
I just let it loop and raise clocks in larger chunks at first, then smaller steps down once I notice any anomalies.ok good. So do you run the benchmark, raise your clocks, and then rinse/repeat, or do you just run the program(not going into benchmark mode) and have it do the infinite scene loops while you raise clocks?
You need to connect all of them.To ask more stupid questions, I'm abit confused about the power connectors. If the card has 1 x 6-pin and 1 x 8-pin, do you actually need power going to both? Or do you use the 8-pin to get max performance or...?
So the EVGA SC is like £40 cheaper than the MSI Gaming X version on ebuyer. Any particular reason not to go for the EVGA?
You need to connect all of them.
(Not that most of these cards actually need enough power to warrant 8+6 configurations -- or even more silly 8+8 ones!)
MSIs website won't load for me but the SC is an 8 pin with a 5+1 power phase which is really the same in power delivery as the stock or founders edition. Idk what the gaming X is but if you care about overclocking headroom those are the specs you compare and may be where the extra 40 dollars comes from. But if you really don't care about overclocking there really won't be any point in spending more, no.

I asked this in the downsampling thread but i'll ask it here too
Whats the best Res to downsample from to 1080P when using a GTX 1080 that recent games would have no trouble supporting via DSR? I want a stable 60FPS and 120Hz.
Depends from game to game, the heavy hitters dsr from 1440p and lighter games like forza apex you can do 4k60.
is 3K feasible? is it worth doing? Or should I downsample from 1440P?
A few of us posted our 3Dmark scores earlier in the thread. Check them out. Could you post yours and tell us which model you have?Anyone else got the spectacularly low 3dmark score? Been reinstalling cleaning, rebooting, like a fiend but after 6 hours and moving that sucker to every slot in the PC it performs about 1/2 of what it should and much less than my normal clocked 980.

I have a 1440p monitor and it really depends on the game, i can dowsample forza from 5k at 60fps but doom is not exactly 60fps at 4k, witcher 3 is 60fps at 1440p (hair works off) and about 40fps at 4k.
Dirt rally is ok for 4k60fps same for overwatch but the division cannot sustain 60fps at 1440p when maxed out.
Yikes. Have you checked if Windows or your Bios is set to power saver mode by any chance? What's your GPU utilization at while running 3Dmark?Ya sorry I saw the old scores but was asking those who haven't posted but are here and might be searching for the same fix many of us are. Talking to other folks it looks like a number of people are getting wonky results on both the standlone and steam version.
Founders 1080

Base and boost normal for now. Score of 4856 in GFX section which it looks like others are getting more than double?
3dmark is uninstalled right now as I am doing another wipe.

No power savings anywhere and I am pegged at 99-100%
FWIW, I've seen a bunch of unimpressive Firestrike scores in reviews. They have not reflected the performance in games tested. I wouldn't do formats and reloads on account of a synthetic benchmark. What does performance in your actual games look like compared to your 980?

Offsets are based on the factory overclock. Offset is only for your reference, no pun intended. You can monitor the actual clock speeds you hold with Afterburner or something like that.
Did you uh remember to plug in the 8-pin PCI-e power connector?

Are you sure you're running the basic Firestrike and not Extreme or Ultra versions?
Can you link us the benchmark result? Also, I would try uninstalling your graphics drivers (and use DDU in safe mode) and then reinstalling. Could be a driver conflict.
So my Gigabyte G1 has started doing this:
![]()
it just randomly flickers like that. I really don't want to send this back. I've barely had it over a week![]()
How do you unnstall drivers? does this require geforce control to be uninstalled? currently on 670s drivers, do I need to uninstall them?
does the 1080 come with the 368.39 - WHQL drivers?
yeah, that definitely looks faulty. Check to see if your cable to your monitor is loose though or even try a different cable entirely
Normal and if I run anything i can still see others scores mine are 1/2 to 1/4th everyone elses with like for like machines. While the 980 I just had in here less than 8 hours ago was posting a bit better than most.
Correct I did all that in the first post. This would be the 9th time actually. Using DDU in safe mode as normal.
Actually now that I think about. Just going to return it. Nothing is worth this shit. Maybe wait a gen the 980 is good enough.
