Final Fantasy XV: Airship Type-F Gameplay Trailer

Based on the UI question there's still some work to do, I wonder when this game is being due for a lock so it can get rated/tested/printed and distributed. They don't have a long time left.

I have this gut feeling that there'll be an 1-2 month delay, anyway.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. Problem is October and November are both entering dangerous territory.

That September 30th slot is perfect release window for the game and I can imagine they are hell bent on shipping the game for then, even if it requires lots of patching at launch.

A shame that they feel FF can't hold its own amongst other heavy hitters anymore. Tomb Raider has scarred them.

It's been almost ten years since they released a single player FF that gets a decent amount of respect. I hope the series can regain the reverence it once had but it'll take time. I don't think XV will have much of an effect on it one way or the other.

Why October first mean neo version? They will make a Neo version next year with dlc and ui and gameplay retweak

I think that launching before Neo is announced or something would gives them the excuse to later re-release a GOTY edition and have people double dip.

It can, but it needs across the board positive critical reception first.

They will release it in September, ready or not.

Yeah, there's no way they are delaying the game. Every single video, every time they mention the game, they always plug the Sept. 30 date. They are set for that course no matter what.

I really hope they can pull it together by then.

I wish I could see that happening but I just have a feeling that everyone is going to be so divided on this game. There will probably be plenty of amazing reviews but also a fair amount of average or below average reviews. I think it will be criticized by many people who have the "Final Fantasy disease" that Tabata talked about who firmly believe that there are certain things that make FF what it is. It will probably also be a victim of hype just like The Last Guardian and we'll see a lot of, "It's good but was it worth the 10 year wait?"

I personally feel like this is going to be God's gift to gamers haha. But it's probably not a game that appeals to the majority of gamers.

Yeah I can agree with this. That" final fantasy disease" is prevalent in many threads that pop up about anything on this game. Like to judge anything without actually playing the full game all the way through makes no sense to me.

I get the demos haven't been the best and I agree with the discussion that the marketing has been less than stellar (and that's putting it mildly) but for others to just say "this game is gonna be a disaster or this game is gonna suck" doesn't make sense. Not like any of us can see the future on what this game will score as lol.

Indeed. This is a problem. I hope reviewers judge the game of its own merits then.

Yeah, it's hard to say about reviews. I'm sure there will be some praising it, some who don't like it, and then some who are just going to be on a negative trip.

I'm heavily considering going on an internet discussion blackout for a good portion of my play through. Perhaps if we've got a tight little OP come release day, I might post there.

I agree. People really shouldn't buy RPGs based on review scores, but base their purchase on their feelings when seeing footage of the game. There are plenty of RPGs I've enjoyed which only got average (5-8/10) review scores.

I think for many here, what the reviewers say in their reviews rather than the little scores at the end are what matters. I agree review scores can often over and undersell a game, but the actual review itself can be a great tool for players to decide if they want to get the game or not.

i honestly think the game will review just fine, as long as the basic mechanics are ok.

i'm guessing a 85 metacritic. most people will recognize the ambition behind the game, the vast amount of varied content, unique setting, gorgeous soundtrack etc etc and can forgive the silly dialogue and dumb characters. it will capture that magic from the earlier games much better than the FFXIII games and reviewers will appreciate that and don't want to give lower scores than 7s or 8s. i think it will be mostly 8s and 9s. there will be an asshole or two who will just want to shit on the game but they wont ruin the party.

This is my guess too - the vast majority of recent media coverage has been positive - with tentative acknowledgment that maybe SE has bit off more than they can chew in some ways.

On point.

Whoa, this game looks spectacular. Being able to pilot the airship is pretty cool, but the world map itself is what I find most impressive. Altissia is gorgeous, day or night. I think XV will be more than worth the wait judging by what Square presented at E3.

Always refreshing to come across a viewpoint like this.

I hope it gets up closer to 90 on metacritc since FFXIII has an 83

My prediction is 80-85 for the meta, is the game is good. 72-76 if the game ends up being divisive.

It is hard to think the game doing any worse than this score.

XIII was still riding on a ton of hype which may have swayed reviewers to score it higher.

Let's just hope that VX actually ends up being good. I will be pretty devastated if it's not for a lot of reasons. And to be fair, outside of GAF, the attitude towards it still seems quite positive.

I hope it gets a 88+ metacritc score so that a majority of the haters on the game would shut up (they probably won't though lol).

Otherwise to be more realistic I expect the game to get 8's across the board. So around a 80+ metacritic score.

lol. FF VII RE says otherwise. Anyway, you are full swing with the doom and gloom. And a 78 is still pretty good.
If you look a few years back at my posts when they first re-unveiled FFXV I was all starry eyed and full of hope.

I can only be beaten down so many times... Each showing and each demo I play gets me more and more depressed about this game.

Why can't you be good damn you... *sobs*

I'll assume that the metacritic is around 80 to 83, so around XIII levels. It won't get critical acclaim, even over 85 is mostly likely just wishful thinking.

Huh, even Uncovered? That's what tipped me over from hopeful but tentative to fairly confident. A few weirdly chosen demos are far from tipping the scale back for me, especially when I keep seeing interesting new stuff (like airship and Altissia video).

Uncovered was the tipping point for me because it confirmed to me that the battle system was ass and wasn't going to be fixed since I got to play the Platinum demo.

That world/environment video was pretty at least.

Never give up. They'll turn it around with the final trailer for the game at TGS dammit and absolutely 'WOW' us.

;_;

BELIEVE!
