Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

Same - seems like the best way to ensure you get it before August at this rate and the price is reasonable. I'm assuming they'll have no problem ensuring that enough people sign up to take advantage of the offer....

EDIT: Oh, the estimated ship date is July 29. Screw that.

When you order it, it says July 1st.

Us Amazon faithful that ordered EVGA cards are still holding onto that quoted July 24 date from 5 pages ago from a member that spoke to an Amazon rep, right? Faithful, as in, I had $100 in gift cards and because of that I can't not order from Amazon. I got my new monitor and it's Displayport only. So I have this $450 paperweight because I have no GPU.

Couldn't you buy a Display port to HDMI to at least get some use out of your "$450 paperweight"?

Lol i'm trying my hardest to get something from new egg and cancel the fuck out of my amazon order. May 31st preorder and still just rumors regarding the release date, fuck that. I'm only still holding onto it because I really wouldn't mind an EVGA FTW card. Hopefully my newegg MSI order does actually ship tomorrow, but I have my doubts on that.

Which MSI card and when did you place your order on NewEgg?

edit: nm misread the end, that was probably the same card as I saw preorders up for it for a long while

Looks like this drop stays open until the 1st so I don't actually see how they could be shipping cards then?

Guess I'll give it until the 30th to see if anything has happened to change the landscape and stick with it if not...

Think he has an amazon order, not newegg.

Yes, I think I will do the same. I guess I'll try to get another one of Newegg or Amazon before end of month. If I can't get anything I'll stick to the drop.

The MSI 1070 Armor 8G OC, ordered it yesterday when it said 2-3 days, but that preorder seemed to be online for a long time so I don't really trust it.

Edit: I should clarify that I want either a 1070 or 1080 lol.

US Amazon preorder for the EVGA FTW here, at least until I cancelled it last week. Preordered May 31st and was tired of waiting. Managed to grab a Gigabyte G1 off NewEgg in the 15 seconds it was available to purchase and should be here by Friday this week. Can't wait!

HOLY CRAP LOL

I totally forgot about that. Well, you solved my issue lol. Thanks for using your brain.

Don't forget SSAA is super sampling and you're doing it at 4x. It requires the most performance so lowering your AA is the other alternative way to boost your fps.

If he's getting a 58fps average with Vsync on and 4x SS I'd say he's in pretty decent shape tho o_o

Hmm. 747 shipped blows but there is an extent to which I just want to be done with this launch already. Lol.

edit: D'oh. Sorry.
Hey man, just pull the trigger before it's too late. I just did, I got the email from Amazon payments but haven't received anything from the site itself.

I haven't even ordered the PC parts lol I guess I'll get on that tonight.

Done. Canceled my drop commitment. Used amazon payments too, pretty painless.

Thanks a ton for the link, demigod.
Does it ship today?
Claims it will. Will keep you posted...

I ordered one with two-day shipping from CompSource. Fuck, just let this nightmare end already.

It says it's in-stock right now, so hopefully it's not a backorder or pre-order in disguise.

I ordered too, I feel bad for not waiting but at least it's a better cooler than the Founders edition.

My new Acer Predator 34-inch curved ultra wide monitor is being delivered today. I've never gamed on anything but 1080p and below, add in g-synk, my gtx1080 SC and I think I'm good to go. Fed Ex cannot get here fast enough!

For whatever relief it gives you, the fans on the MSI are super quiet and effective.
It's one of the first cards I saw and really liked it from the start because of that. Hopefully it can be over clocked a bit without much trouble.

I'm in the same boat except I'm getting a 27 inch monitor. I've never gotten high end stuff for a PC so this will be a first for me. Should be really nice to play with all of these bells and whistles.

That is very close to my sentiment as well, lol. I've been a part of a few Nvidia gen launches now and this is pretty bonkers.

Which monitor did u end up getting?

EVGA's product manager saying US retailers like Newegg and Amazon should start getting stock of EVGA cards next week. Fingers crossed. Hopefully that includes the FTW.

If a good EVGA is in stock before the ASUS card I might just jump on one of them... Come on Amazon!

Depends on what kind of stock we're talking about. If it's the kind that sells out in four and a half seconds, then it doesn't do me much good.

That isn't exactly correct, to keep it simple 4K is 4 times 1080p, 1440 is kind of an odd one, it doesn't natively render well without clipping or screwing up the ratio which can and usually will result in noticeable blur. It's best to play 1080p on a 4K monitor (if you can't properly push 4K I guess was the discussion here) or 1440p on a native 1440p monitor or on a 5k monitor

I think that if you have the left over power, the large increase in the number of pixels (70%) should make 1440p a better option than 1080p despite the scaling issues. You're going to get less aliasing and shimmering across the whole image and the aspect ratio is the same.

Yeah - while 1440p probably looks crappy if you let the monitor scale it up - if you let the graphics card scale it to the native res of your screen it should look pretty damn good - certainly better than 1080p?

It's probably going to depend on what kind of AA and scaling is going on. Dark Souls without DSFix looks pretty sharp on a 1440p monitor (running at 720p). But other games that I can't quite run at 1440p look pretty good at 1080p, especially with good AA and sharpening. Others look like a blurry mess and it's actually worth the performance hit to run them at 1440p.

Yeah, I noticed Guru3D had theirs set to FXAA instead of SSAA. After work, I'm going to run it again. I had a ton of PC issues before this so I was making sure my CPU wasn't in the need of an RMA.

Legit question, is there a purpose to enabling AA if you are going to downsample from 2k to 1080p?

Shit do I cancel my 1070 allegedly shipping in 1-2 days or hold out another week hoping that I am in the batch that is getting my preorder fulfilled lol.

A dilemma indeed! Amazon is great about returns, so you could always just return the 1070 if the 1080 FTW ships in the first batch.
