well aren't the elected officials there for a reason? to make important decisions for citizens?

I don't know why people are going "this should not be for the people to decide, we should let our MP's decide". I mean our MP's are just as moronic as the public. These so called MP's are not some bastions of intellect, they are just as ill informed as the rest of us and just as biased/racist as the rest of us.

On another note. Yesterday I posted an add from the Hungarian Government asking the UK to remain, it seems today is Polands turn :-

The Polish Govt projected the Union Jack onto a building in Warsaw as a show of support for remain. Apparently they kinda cocked it up a bit because it is "upside down" or something. I wouldn't know really, never been much of a flag person.

Inverted flags are considered antagonistic in their message, but that's only a thing for anal retentive protocol experts.

Will the average person even know about Hungary or Poland doing these things?

Also, with some of the people I know, the Hungary message may convince them even more so to leave.

There's not a lot EU can do other than trade sanctions, which is something they can do without UK. UK would have the means to implement our own sanctions, potentially more robust than EU (of course, it could go the other way). Additionally, the effectiveness of trade sanctions against a nation the size of Russia is questionable. That said, we can still be united with Europe on such matters, projecting a strong alliance without paying a huge fee to be part of their club.

The U.K. is a vital and large component of the EU sanctions. Without the UK there wouldn't have been the sanctions over the Ukraine, for example. One of the things the UK contributes to Europe is diplomacy and foreign policy action - both the EU and the U.K. Will be significantly weaker and less able to act on the world stage should Brexit occur.

No because they only read the sun and are clutching their fast boil kettles.

That a son is a son no matter what, that being together is better than being apart, that family outweighs individual rewards, that forgiveness is possible and repentance accepted. That you can change your mind without rancour and repentance need not attract punishment, that there is a price worth paying for togetherness.

Need I continue?

But doesn't it seem fair that the son's bad behaviour should merit some form of punishment?

And that it's unfair that the other son now has to share his inheritance??

It's all very well to say well God's love / heaven / whatever is infinite, but we live in the real world. I would be mightily agrieved if my brother got his inheritance now, pissed it all away and then got half of mine in 30 years time.

Actually my brother is way more financially successful than me irl, so this is all hypothetical.

I propose Phisheep as MVP of this thread.

Also, EVERYONE VOTE TOMORROW!

Preferably for Remain, but seriously please vote.

Has anyone looked at the possible effect of increased nationalism during the euros?

Thought it was an own goal (heh) to call it during a football tournament.

Poland wanting the UK to remain, for the life of me I can not imagine why.....and if they cared so much their PM should not of been such a dick about Camerons reforms

On the other hand, there's a positivity around Europe getting together to play a game that might work against them.

It's easy to spot once you know how. On the left side of the flag, the larger white diagonal lines should always be above the red lines. (Scotland above Ireland).

Depends on the mentality of the fans while the English were singing "we fucking hate Europe" the Welsh were singing " we are staying in, we love Europe.

We were the main country pushing for Poland to be admitted. In EU politics Poland is often allied with the UK in terms of decision making. Plus, you know, our public sector finances have benefited hugely from immigration and are reliant on them for the future.

But I turned my phone upside down and it looks the same.

You probably rotated your phone by 180 degrees. That's not the same thing as turning your phone upside down in the way you would need to to have the correct part of the flag at teh top (because in that case, the screen would be facing away from you)

If the flagpole is on the left, the broad white stripe should be uppermost in the top-left quadrant. If there's no flagpole, it is assumed to be on the left. So the Poles got their slide back to front.

Inverted flags are considered antagonistic in their message, but that's only a thing for anal retentive protocol experts.

Guilty as charged.

The Polish PM was doing his job and looking after his people. Just like Davey was doing his job looking after his business interests :-p

Even as a Leave voter I can acknowledge it is nice gesture on behalf of the Polish Government. It certainly makes a change from all the threats the EU have been chucking our way.

Why is John Oliver so criminally unfunny? I made it about 30 seconds into that video before I started retching.

Oh you should definitely watch the last couple of minutes of that. It had a great bit about the EU national Anthem video and there was a great lil song at the end which made me chuckle. Just watch it from the 12 min mark till the end.

How many Polish people work outside Poland in the EU? A lot. That's why.

Poland is also having some issues and fears about Russia. NATO is arming up in the east partly because of them. They are even training a militia in case of an occupation. Might seem to us a bit of an overreaction, but given the country's history, I can't blame them. A stronger EU is very much in their interest because of this.

I guess but the rest of the uk doesn't matter, England can drag all of us out even if we all vote stay.

That's fair because reasons.

Yes, the threats are unpleasant to be sure. We should emphasize the fact that we want a shared future with the United Kingdom. That we want to work together on building a more prosperous and peaceful Europe. That we know things are far from perfect, but that we want to work together to make them better.

It's unfortunate that leaders opt for threats out of fear for the consequences of a British departure, rather than emphasizing that we want to build a future together.
