the difference is, me thinking there will be a downturn, and people acting like businesses are going to up roots and leave the UK

Why wouldn't they? They're businesses - if the market tanks here and they're going to be better off elsewhere, they'll move. It's inevitable, and could work in Scotland's favour should they call for another independence referendum.

I agree, and I dont want that, but if I dont reply it looks like I am fly by posting, so I am caught...

so either I dont post or we have to accept shit is going to look messed up....this thread allready lost the poster who said he got rounded on for saying he was voting leave... I am more ready to take it

there is know 5 replies since I posted this, if I reply to all I am shitting the thread, if I dont reply I am a coward..... the irony

Just admit that your point of view isn't based on facts. you talk like someone that is in denial.

Yep this will be a huge plus for the Yes campaign, and with the likely scenario on brexit being that Scottish Labour will not lead a no campaign, cannot see any outcome other than a yes.

Are you suggesting Tak3n is some type of AI similar to Skynet, which has the intention of destroying all of humanity?

(I don't know where I'm going with this).

I'm trying to help you but I dunno. The trouble isn't that just the consensus of professional and political opinion is against you, but that your raft is devoid of actual supporters in this area.
The closest you have is the Woodford report commissioned by Woodford - a huge and influential investor.

Ah an hour of Paxman asking "how shit is the eu? " in a roundabout way.

If we left, we would likely have similar workers protection as the US, which is the ideal 'free market above all' philosophy the Tories love so much. It'd be a little easier to hire people probably, but a whole lot easier to fire you.

Not really sure what this is based on. Plenty of countries have strong workers' rights without being party to the EU.

Not really sure what this is based on. Plenty of countries have strong workers' rights without being party to the EU.
Plenty of countries also don't have a extremely right wing govt basically guaranteed to be in govt until 2025 atleast.

They also are the closest non racist party to republicans in Europe.

Edit also the alt right will be emboldened which has infested our politics thanks to America.

no, I am not....can you not even see how that causes a issue....anyone who did not see 2008 can not be trusted..... it does not make you question it at all? you are happy just to let them off that

I can promise you one thing, if they were advocating leave, the remain camp would be saying exactly what I am

those cunting experts, cunning bastards

Do those countries have neoliberal fanatics in power? I am not being glib, I am genuinely asking. I would take some comfort if we leave knowing we may not end up being in fear for our jobs for life with no notice periods, statuary rights or recourse.

Jesus Christ, is this what political discourse has come to in this country? Delia Smith and June Sarpong arguing with Theo Pathitis and Gillian McKeith?

By the way I was testing the waters here when I said leave. I was curious what reaction I would get as this thread seems very strong in the remain camp.

I'm voting remain as I first stated, as is my whole family. One of the main reasons is due to our personal and business family financial ties to Europe which would be affected negatively (or so I'm told, and when it's my inheritance I'm not fucking with it)

Dont disagree, but it is not just me voting leave, there is going to be millions (for both sides)

Now the problem is (unless you have a research team at your disposal) finding 'true' neutrals in this debate is proved to be nigh on impossible...

Where I hear Tesco, John Lewis etc etc all telling us of the ramification of a leave vote, no one else thinks, hold on a minute, what is your vested interest, suddenly big business are all about looking after people rights yes?

wrong, Tesco for example have been asked a 1000 times to pay a living wage, and do they? do they fuck, but suddenly them coming out for remain means they have no vested interest

Because nobody on the Leave side has a vested interest in seeing us leave the EU?

And do you think it's MORE likely businesses will start paying living wages if we left?

3 of 6? How are they going to handle Brexit campaign-based satire 2 weeks on?
Episode 4 is Friday night. After that, who knows. I guess they've set it up to be more flexible this time: the Tory Unity unit for keeping everyone together will still be very useful, plus Putin and Trump teams.

I'll double check the six but I think it's right.

of course they do, I am not that naive.... and that just makes my point, neutrality seems to be like the dinosaurs

I really worry about what the Tory project will do to entertain itself if the EU Dragon is slayed.

There's not much left.
*cough* nhs *cough*
How the British public voted in a health secretary that wrote about privatisation of the nhs is hilarious and sad to me.

Corbyn is screwed

Corbyn's Ipsos satisfaction ratings from LAB voters at lowest point since he became leader

He has messed up frankly, a lot of Labour voters expected him to be more vocal in support of the EU, but he has been lacklustre and the i dont like the EU but we need it routine was laughable.

1. That wouldn't make you a coward. This is an optional enthusiast forum. You don't have to be here.

2. If your responses were more logically compelling nobody would accuse you of shitposting. It's the quality of your posts and rhetoric that is causing this sentiment.

You are right to be skeptical about big businesses and rich people who are endorsing either side. I got a letter in the post from Alan Fucking Sugar asking me to vote Remain and I cannot stand that dickhead. There is going to be a lot of vested interests in high-profile figures on either side endorsing the vote and people should be cynical about that.

However, I look at all the independent bodies and the academics and the trade unions and the healthcare professionals and charities and human rights activists and the noble laureates and all the politicians who I admire most like Caroline Lucas and Jo Cox and who I believe are approaching this from a genuine position of concern for the best interests of everyone in this country, not just themselves, and it's almost unanimous across the board that they all believe we should Remain.

This has been done to death. Their vested interest is making money, same as every business.

JCB, Dyson, Wetherspoons, Tate & Lyle and a few others (I've looked, they're hard to find) think they'll make more money outside of the EU.

Pretty much everyone else thinks they'll make more money inside the EU.

No scary conspiracies or hidden meanings. Businesses exist to be profitable.

Completely unrelated to the thread... what's this "shop" you're in?

My bead shop in Weston-super-mare. Check out "scrumpybeads" on Facebook if you want, and pop in anytime. Can always put the kettle on for visiting gaffers.

Spell check put that as "head shop". Glad I spotted that.

Welsh ladies gone. No thread worthy news there as I could not get a word in even edgeways.

There simply wasn't an alternative and there still isn't. As soon as there is a functioning rival party with an electable leader the Torys are boned but we have been waiting to see that for a decade now.

Well it's kind of obvious that he's not all that interested in us staying in the EU, like he's leaning towards remain but I don't think he'd be losing sleep if we left. Not really surprising he's been fairly lacklustre on this.

Tesco has done due diligence. They are reporting on election day.* I'm guessing they're trying to bury bad news.
You're right. Everyone has vested interests. Are you surprised that crashing the economy is proving unpopular?
A lot of people are asking why you are gambling with their houses? And you are just dismissing their concern because of the unforeseen 2008 crash. Only serving to remind them that they don't want to go through that again.

Edit: *financial report

This goes both ways, too, though? Pro-leave businesses are just as sketchy and opaque about their ulterior motives.

The only difference is that the Remain side also has a nut-ton of academic specialists lobbying to Remain. And university academia is impartial by definition. They are neutral. If any of the 'experts' cited for Remain were biased academics then they wouldn't have made it as academics and they wouldn't be quoted as 'experts'.

Awesome. May do that at some point... haven't been to WSM since I was a kid. :D

Edit - I just looked, my missus would love that place!

How does weatherspoon make more money out side the EU?

Health and safety, reduce holiday allowance for part timers/agency staff. No fault dismissals etc etc

He mentions "regulation and red tape" so this is likely to be exactly what he means.

Though he also thinks the UK will be more prosperous, therefore I guess more spending on nights out?
