Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

I'd be willing to wait only if I thought there would be significant differences in the ability to over clock card.

I know the after market coolers are better than stock, but to what degree generally. If it's not significant I'd rather not wait as I'm so ready to jump into VR and want to do so with the best experience I can right now.
Yeah the difference in overclockability is not marked enough to make this a worthwhile concern for current gen VR at all.

Have the EVGA FTWs started shipping? I placed an order direct through EVGA on May 28th and haven't heard a peep since.

They are going out slowly. People who had ordered before noon on the 27th have been getting charged. I ordered at 9pm on the 27th but I'm still waiting.

I'm getting mad I keep missing availability of cards by a couple minutes when I decide to look away from computer.
You and me both. I checked nowinstock while I was on break and there were no updates on the Strix. Then I checked again after I finished my next task, and it had come and gone.

I guess I'll get one in August or whenever they can actually get enough product in stores to last more than 5 minutes.

Yeah apparently I missed the STRIX again an hour ago. So much for "auto notify," hah
Yeah it sucks. Your best bet is to refresh that nowinstock site. That's how I saw the STRIX yesterday. Also, make sure the websites you'd like to use like newegg or Amazon have your login information saved as well as payment info. It helps with getting in there fast.

Roger. Thank you! Haven't been following the saga as closely as I was in the beginning, feeling some fatigue. Very annoying process.

Honestly, the FE cards (sometimes multiple listings for it by the same manufacturer) are very deeply affecting the usability of that site, especially the alert functionality. Is there a way to exclude certain products from the list...?
Back out already of course :)

shopblt.com's availability projections for the EVGA SC card is for whatever reason much more optimistic than all the other cards (both EVGA's others and the other manufacturers) and they don't charge until an order ships, so I put in a preorder for that and will keep ya'll posted.

My MSI Gaming (non-X) will arrive on Saturday. It has clocks almost the same as the reference cards, but has the Gaming X cooling solution. I wonder if I can actually reach Gaming X clocks with this card. Not a huge deal if not but it would be a nice bonus.

This will for the time being be paired with an ancient overclocked i5-2500k (4.5GHz). Will upgrade the remainder of the PC soon, depending on how much of the CPU will be a bottleneck running games at 1440p60.

Create an account and customize it to only the cards you're interested in.

I'm probably going to write a small review for my G1 tonight after I toy around with it a bit more. It's a beautiful card and super quiet. I haven't heard it at all.

Looks like today is your day. Jacob posted a pic of a bunch of them ready to ship. Canceled a preorder for around the same timeframe.. Mixed feelings.

Was in queue to step up my EVGA 980TI to a 1080 ACX 3.0. Just got an email a few moments ago that I'd been bumped up to a 1080 SC Edition at no additional cost...

Thank you for your recent request for Step-up. We are sending this email to notify you of an update to the status of your Step-up request, which was submitted prior to June 21st of 2016 at 11AM PDT, for the product model 08G-P4-6181-KR.

Due to an unforeseen delay caused by higher than expected requests and limited availability for the 08G-P4-6181-KR Graphics card, we are updating you to the SC model 08G-P4-6183-KR at no additional cost. This card has the same hardware as the one requested, but it has been tested at faster speeds and factory overclocked for more performance out of the box.

Thanks EVGA! Think I need to go rummage through all my pants pockets to see if any stray $20 bills fall out.

Got the same email! Patience pays off!

Heck yea it does, meanwhile my 980ti is still humming along like a boss.

Welp, reserved a Strix that will be shipped out whenever I transfer the money. If EVGA doesn't issue any statement for EU shippings until Friday, I'll just go with that one instead of FTW.

I wasn't expecting the pre-order for my GTX 1080 SEA HAWK EK X to be processed so quickly, I just received the tracking #, so I guess I better buy that radiator ...

Man it's driving me crazy I've been waiting forever for the regular Sea Hawk with the closed loop to be back in stock but the EK version with the waterblock comes out of nowhere a few days ago and has already been in stock a few times.

Newegg has been packaging my cars since yesterday. I really hope to see shipped soon.

It took Newegg a day to package my card as well. They started Monday afternoon and status changed to shipped this time in the afternoon on Tuesday. If this is normal for Newegg, yours should get shipped any moment.
