Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

Well that was super short, a little rough, but OH SO SWEET. Exactly what I was hoping it would be. May the full game live up to this little slice!
I didn't back enough to get the demo key, so I'm curious on this one. What did you find problematic with the boss fight?
Her design is pretty awful (giant, gelatinous breasts seemed really out of place), patterns are very simple. Second phase didn't really seem to mean much, just kind of needed to hack away at her without any effort. It's early, I don't think it means much.

sorry if this sounds dumb, but when we backed this did we select the platform we wanted?
I backed this but I don't remember if I selected PS4 or that comes later when the game is near completion

Just a heads up, the demo key is your full game key, so pop in it your Steam anyway.

Are you sure about that? I ordered PS4 and still got a demo key.

There was a survey that went out a few months later. Check your email.

Played and beat it. Really short demo but man its so great. It's everything I had hoped for! Why couldn't Mighty #9 stayed this true to what its pitch.

This demo got my so much more hyped for the final game. Its beautiful and plays amazing!

If anyone is wondering, took me less than 15 minutes to complete.

Demo is super good. Feels great, moves great. Only complaint really is that it's super easy. Def an Iga game, including destructible walls and secret areas. Head Flail crystal ftw.

There was a survey that should've been e-mailed to you where you pick your platform.

If you watch some of the demo footage out on Youtube you'll see - very easy to avoid attacks, low damage, not aggressive enough.

Yeah, I think the difficulty must have been set super low (obviously because it was an E3 demo so they wanted people to be able to finish it)

It did seem like Miriam moved faster than virtually every enemy in the game though. So that made not getting hit really easy.

Hopes is that because it's a pre-alpha build that it's more proof-of-concept as opposed to how the game will will end up being difficulty-wise come release. I mean, enemy AI wasn't really there in the demo. Everything about it was super easy.

Here, have a screenshot / wallpaper:

Ah ok, the last footage I saw of this was some of the initial E3 stuff so it pretty much ended right at the beginning of the boss fight. Agree on the design btw, thought it was rather offputting when I saw it the other week. Hopefully people submit feedback on that segment, although I'm sure anything with enemy patterns and difficulty is probably just proof of concept for the game at this point.

Exactly. I wouldn't read anything into the actual gameplay difficulty or balance. I think the only things we can judge here is the look and feel, and IMO it looks and feels great. I think this bodes well for the final game.

Finished the demo 10mins or so ago. Really liked it.

1 small Complaint, i'd like to have the different items you equip show up on your character model.
Hopefully it will be in the finished game. (no biggie if it's not)

But i choose the GOG version when i backed.

Does that mean i'm stuck with the steam version now. ?

I don't believe this is the case. I chose PS4 as my retail copy, and received a PC demo key. From what I understand, both the demo and beta will be PC-only, with the demo probably be "upgraded" to the demo version when it's released.

Now if you chose PC as your version of choice, that might be true haha.

Okay so great demo even if it is a little unoptimized. Music is just right and feels like it fits the game. If you are expecting a spiritual successor to SotN you got it with this it seems.

Super shitty frame rate for me, especially in the outdoor section with the rain. Borderline unplayable to me.

I'm running a i5-4670 and GTX 770, so I have no idea what the issue is. I booted up a modern game (Resident Evil HD) and it ran fine, so I have no idea what the issue is

Everything worked perfectly for me - rain looked great.

i7, GTX 680

Huh...I had no issue and I'm running a i7-930 and an Radeon 6950. Ran pretty damn well for me. Then again I am not all that adverse to frame rate issues as long as it remains consistent.

Now that I think of it, I may be confusing my Bloodstained survey with my Torment: Tides of Numenera survey...

Tech issues cleaned up after 5 minutes of playing the game. Super weird!

I agree the boss is kinda lame, and I am a little worried about how hard it is to tell what background elements you can jump on vs which ones are just decorations, but the game seems to be on the right track. High hopes!

Well that was tantalizing. In IGA I trust.

The boots and headband did, at least.

So bummed that I can not use my steam key because I am on a mac... I played the demo at E3, but I want to play it in my own home with headphones on, so I can enjoy it. :(

The Demo being out is kind of major news right?

Isn't there a GAF Rule of new information, new thread? Or does a Demo thread already exist?

If anybody wants a code for the demo let me know, the only computer I have is a shitty Mac so there's no shot of me playing it.

Edit: gone.
