This is appalling. Interested to see replies to that tweet as it gains some kind of traction.

The Telegraph has lost it they know that its over and have risked losing a lot of their readership, unlike the Daily Minger they still had a lot of pro EU readers, they will likely lose a lot of those with shit like this.

Yeah, I suppose... I think it's just the double-standards that annoy me. We stop Sky News from going all Fox, but we don't stop The Daily Mail from doing the same thing? The medium is different, but the intent to deceive and inflame is still there. And you can argue that the front-pages of papers have an easier time in convincing people of a certain view against a TV program where you actually have to make a concerted effort to watch/listen.

Basically... it's about limited broadcast spectrum. You need a license to broadcast, there's limited space, so there's rules to use it fairly.

Whereas anyone can set up a paper or website.

In trying to hold onto their core audience most newspapers really have degenerated. The Telegraph used to actually be worth reading.

As a Remain voter, I bitterly hope the tone of a Remain victory is humble and the establishment learns something from a lot of the Leave arguments and DOES something about it otherwise we will just be deferring this problem for another day

To be fair, Cameron's entire approach to the remain part of the referendum is that we'll try and get a better deal so there's no reason that should change. No guarantee he'll get what he wants of course, but his approach has been there from the off.

Trying to remember the exact rules about canvassing outside polling stations. I think there's a max distance requirement?

Edit: Tellers (which I would guess this person counts as) is permitted to wear a campaign rosette or badge. I don't think that counts as a badge.

If I squint I think I can see that woman wearing a badge.

Before the campaigning began I was a Leave person, my gut feeling was it was wasting so much money and doing us no favours. Change needed to happen, so I wanted out. I'm an analyst by trade though so I like to gather the information and make my own mind up. So I did.

I read all the papers from the experts, I read opinions from industry leaders and I listened to both sides tear each other apart. The conclusion I came to was there was only sane conclusion, we have to remain. So this morning I voted to save Britain from itself and Remain.

I was previously very ignorant to so many issues, I don't understand it all but I'm glad I spent the time making my own mind up and I believe I've done the right thing.

I am concerned about the outcome though even if we remain. There was a sensible debate to be had around the EU, but it didn't happen. I think the result will be to remain, and then we'll have weeks, months or years of conspiracy theories and ever growing hatred every time something isn't perfect.

Oh and this - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...ive-latest-mi5-conspiracy-fears-a7097011.html

I am glad you researched and made up your own mind, regardless of your conclusion.

I wish more people did.

The problem with this campaign is if Leave mentioned immigration they got shouted down as Xenophobic and Racist.

It drives a lot of people to Vote Leave for actually refusing to discuss the point.

The actual reason a lot of people want to discuss though isn't because of immigration being a bad thing.

The problem actually comes from Government for not investing in services, housing etc in the areas most hit by immigration.

I've seen over the last several years a steady growth in my GP waiting times from 48 hours to 2 weeks or longer depending on time of year. Dentist... hahaha who are you kidding...

In an ironic twist we also need more immigration because of immigration...
As we don't have enough Dental Surgeons/Doctors to cope with the increased numbers!

So yeah - here's hoping this referendum serves as a kick up the backside to address this

Part of the tragedy is, Cameron could have ('easily') pushed for meaningful reforms and had lots of support from the entire continent. Instead he was just playing games got jack shit that he then had to sell as a great success of British diplomacy....

Powerful video and food for thought, listen to this amazing old lady:

I watched this on TV last night. The effect it had on the audience was quite profound, with a massive shift from the undecided voters towards remain. I think she summarised quite well that this referendum is bigger than all of us. Although us living within the UK would be the most affected, it's going to have impacts across the world, especially within the union that was conceived in part to prevent the atrocities of the past century from happening ever again.

I also think it speaks volumes that whilst she was taking, (in contrast to the rest of the programme) not a single person tried to interrupt or contradict her. It really solidified my choice, and once she had finished speaking, all I could say was "Here, here!"

I feel that there are several countries in the EU that don't really like the speed and scope of EU integration and look to the UK to be the 'brakes' on it. We have allies in the EU but we don't really cooperate with them - we have our opt outs so we're happy to just stand to the side and not really take a leadership role, instead leaving that to France and Germany.

I dunno, that's my impression. Does that sound fair?

Edit:

This is the worst post in this thread.

Tied with that one about IPA being disgusting imo.

Currently in Spain but returning today to vote Remain.

However I hope this scares Brussels. It needs to reform to be more efficient - but then again so does Westminster.

Being in Spain has hit home how uncompetitive some of our partners are, but then again they shouldn't be forced to be Northern European style economies based on ultra high efficiency.

It's tough but we need to start having more of these conversations if we vote Remain.

From the things I'm seeing, the leave position on immigration isn't to solve the problem, but to make it go away, and make others solve it. They're not racist, but to say that they're actually wanting to discuss the topic in an even-handed manner is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion.

Lttp

Um what happens if there is a leave vote and then mps fail to ratify it? As they most surely will fail, because their bread is personally buttered on the stay side especially the Tories so abstains and so on will sink it.

What happens then?
Does the uk shrug and fire Cameron. That's it?

I know - I know

Going back to what I said that is what's needed though.

And it's painful no campaign mentioned that.

In fact the only party that mentioned that it was required was Corbyn!
But he's never going to get into power is he.

It would be Civil War, and Spidey would not make a cameo to help

@nanette0803 @duckers87 @britainelects They are in panic mode. #VoteLeave is going to be a bigger margin than we could have dreamed of.

lol

Out of interest, when there's a poll this late, is the expectation that the DKs will abstain or will they still go to vote and decide in the booth?

Some of the models are expecting a 3-1 ratio for Remain to Leave in terms of the Don't Knows. Off the top of my head, I think the don't knows were also around 60% likely to vote still.

Damn right, I buy them. Low calorie crisps!

I had a pack not two weeks ago.

Yeah skips are still around so are Space Raiders (around Manchester anyway)

Coolio, I might hunt down a pack. Did know that Space Raiders were still about, one of my locals that have now shut down were still selling them.
