As a Remain voter, I bitterly hope the tone of a Remain victory is humble and the establishment learns something from a lot of the Leave arguments and DOES something about it otherwise we will just be deferring this problem for another day

lol status quo to resume by 5pm Friday

Yes apart from telling Gove, Farage and Boris to fuck off, the lying shit stirrers.

For me the timing of this referendum is quite coincidental as I have a meeting today to see if I'm going to the UK working. It's a short term assignment (3-6 months) but arriving just after people voted out of the EU would be an awkward experience.

Feeling a bit calmer after seeing the news come in - the dream of living in a world where we're still in the EU and Trump doesn't get to be president seems a lot more realistic than it did a week ago.

I'm not expecting too much, most of the real crazies jumped ship to UKIP long ago. Them rejoining is probably worse in the long run.

Tomorrow also starts the next Tory party leadership race

On exit polls I'll see if my brother in-law will give me updates on his firms one, though he's usually sketchy on stuff like that

It's awful. Skips are awful, Walkers P&C...ugh.

I'd rather eat Cheese and Onion than Prawn Cocktail and C&O is absolutely vile.

Why? It won't be your fault. If anything it will be a good conversation starter.

Family of labour voters here. Majority voted to remain, but a few haven't. Really excited to see how this turns out, regardless of referendum results.

Oh it's going to cause some trouble no doubt, it's a shame the head throbbingly EU obsessed have mostly left. Some will feel betrayed by Cameron but he held the referendum and won.

I was ashamed to find out that my fiancée's sister voted UKIP in the last GE for bullshit reasons. She's the only one in either of our extended families who did so and we didn't talk at all for months after an argument over that.

If it came down to a single vote I'm pretty sure it would be her fault – in my eyes at least. Voting Remain when my lady gets home later today.

Um what happens if there is a leave vote and then mps fail to ratify it? As they most surely will fail, because their bread is personally buttered on the stay side especially the Tories so abstains and so on will sink it.

What happens then?
Does the uk shrug and fire Cameron. That's it?
Next general election could be a UKIP landslide who if their MEPs are anything to go by will be happy to extract a salary from the public they serve but not happy when it comes to actually serving said public. The near empty house of commons will be playing the sandford and son theme a lot more as the leader of the opposition refuses to do prime minsters questions with no prime minister present.

Powerful video and food for thought, listen to this amazing old lady:

This kind of thing is exactly what remain should have been about. We've done all these great things and want to continue doing so instead of the if you leave your children will starve on the streets. But it would be difficult for Tories to admit their won failings...which is also why they don't counter why public services are under pressure (spending cuts do that).

"Hello there young chap, isn't it funny how you just voted for me not to be here"

Joking aside, I'm honestly worried that if leave wins it'll empower some people to act more aggressive towards emigrants, even before the exit is done.

A lovely fellow encouraging people to vote leave in our town centre informed my mother and myself, of Indian descent, he'd like his country back.

Will be voting remain, not as a result of this incident. Just don't trust the British government with free reign. Also as someone who will be working for the NHS in a few years time.
