Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

I hear you about Vita. But let's see. Vita's relatively low resolution should help with frame rates. Depends on how optimized the port will be.

That's not even the craziest thing about Vita and Wii U plans. Unreal Engine 4 isn't even officially available for those platforms, Armature has to first port UE4 to those and then port the game after.

Has there been a mention of estimated game length? I haven't followed the campaign but I'm thinking about getting a physical copy after watching the demo.

IGA said he generally aims for a bare minimum 10-hour play time, which for this game will be bumped to 12.5 hours due to them hitting the "25% larger castle" stretch goal, and that's without taking into account extras line additional playable characters and modes, true endings, multiplayer, etc.

Do you even Symphony of the Night, brah?

I played just a bit before dropping.

Comments like this make me wonder whether these people played any of the IGAvanias or not.

SOTN was the only Castlevania I played and the opening was impressive man, but it was years ago, from my perspective I don't like what I saw.

This demo was really impressive.

The jumping may look floaty in videos (so did SOTN's), but actually playing the game, the jumping and movement felt responsive and precise. The game controlled very well; I instantly got the hang of it.

I just gave my though, I didn't played the demo so I can't say but if you say so I hope it's true.

That was super enjoyable, and I liked how it was tuned as an E3 demo level. That made it easy to really just get the feel of it. Played through it twice.

Just woke up and played the demo and I love it. It feels right, the level design seems right (is there a way to climb that tall room with the platform out of reach?), the enemies are cool, it looks great, the menus are cool, and it runs great. I was using the sword off a ledge and I did a downward angle swing and gasped. It is in desperate need of AA, though. Can you force some on it with ATI?

It'd be nice to add some touches to liven up the place a bit more, like some moving lighting, rats, or animation for water pouring in where there are hull breaches and you're running in water. Just some stuff to kind of make it more alive. Not sure how much of that kind of stuff would be out of budget for the final product.

This has me very excited and hopeful!

It doesn't appear to be downsample compatible, at least not by ATI VSR.

I also can't find an AA injector for newer versions of DirectX so I can't do that and trying to force AA does nothing.

Noooooooooooo D:

Not even if you set your desktop resolution to the one you want to downsample from?

I know it states only xinput support right now for the demo, does anyone know if there are keyboard controls? I'm at work and really want to try, but of course I did not bring a controller :)

My key is up for grabs: BGEHG-ZXFGW-ZL6RI

I am sure there is at least one person here who didn't back and wishes they did. Enjoy, one person!

Edit: Ha, looks like there are lots of persons. Hopefully more unwanted keys keep getting passed around.

Since the headband shows up on Miriam, I think it's safe to expect the glasses to be equippable gear? I hope the stats are trash, and make me take double damage, will use it anyway.

They're not complete and you can't finish the demo because the directional shard action is not mapped to anything I can find, but here's what I did find:

WASD: movement
Z: backdash
Space: jump
Mouse1: Attack
Mouse2: Shard attack

B, O: open/close menu
N: open/close map

It is limited to 1080p.

I successfully injected SweetFX to it.

You have to inject to RON\Binaries\Win64\RON-Win64-Shipping.exe and for some reason it will install as OpenGL even though it is a DX11 game. Anyway, it works, but even when I jack up the AA settings it hardly seemed to do anything. I looked very closely as I toggled it on and off and it definitely affected little parts of the image, but not the larger aliasing all over. It is the same when I set the ATI settings for that app. I can tell it is definitely using forced SSAA by looking at the textures, but the aliasing is still elsewhere. I'm guessing that whatever shader they used on her and to add a black sketched sort of look to everything is actually introducing aliasing. Really hope they sort that out.

Darn, oh well. At least I can mess around with it!

Pretty harsh preview for a pre-alpha demo ....

Meh I don't really care and still can't wait to try it tonight :p
I'm sure people looking for another good Symphony of the Night will be happy when this game release.

Doesn't seem like he understands it's pre-alpha.

Ehhh I dont get why the Ori and Cave Story mentions. You are getting Igavania here and thats all people wanted. He doesnt need to do much changes to the formula and for what this demo was meant to show this early it serves its purpose and I think everyone expects the final game to be harder than what it currently is in the demo among some other bells and whistles.

This article is nonsense, but I don't mind a few early bad reviews to hopefully help the team stay motivated to produce a quality product.

Is this demo everyone's talking about up now on PSN? Would love to try it, unless it's only for Kickstarter pledged folks...?

It's Steam-exclusive. Other versions of the demo likely don't exist as it was made for a very specific, temporary purpose.

It's only on Steam and only for those who backed the 60 dollar tier on Kickstarter.

It's nice and definitely bolstered my faith in the production, but it's a very small pre-alpha slice so you're not missing much.
