Haha shit. Just had a conversation with a leave voter.

They think if it goes wrong they (we) can just rejoin the EU anyway.

Smh

My manager is voting leave and got on his soapbox, within which he mentioned "putting Britain first"...I had to stop and ask him if he knew what that meant.

We work for a major financial company, too. Worrying.

Well done. Have a drumstick lolly

In fact, drumstick lollies for everyone!

Trying to get me to pull my fillings out? A bit harsh...

:P

Our local polling station is absolutely deserted. It's a student city, either they're all drunk still from last night, or younger voters are completely disinterested in the flavour of politics being served up by both sides.

Useless fuckers. Only political when it suits them.

(But in fairness, I'd expect the younger vote to come out far later)

Oh no you didn't

They're cakes bro, proved in a court of law

While true from a legal perspective, they're still sold in the biscuit section of supermarkets and are served like biscuits, so for day to day purposes I am comfortable to consider them biscuits.

This is good though GAF, let's keep this dialogue open and continue to address the important issues together.

When I ran a convenience store, they were with the cakes

Fuck the planogram

Someone posted this on FB and it got shared a few thousand times, I came to know of it because someone in my friendlist shared it. The irony here being the last sentence that says "don't take my word, just google" and if one does that they will immediately see that it's false as Turkey failed to meet the requirement to achieve visa free travel.

Still, you gotta love how he emphasies on the religion when he says " 75 million muslim turks" and then says it's about "security".

Not much, only the lives of people who have jobs or want jobs over the next 30 to 40 years. But anyway, on to the important discussion...
And if the majority decides to vote out, will you be respectful and not throw your toys out of the pram? Not that I think that's going to happen, btw.

I assume you mean chocolate Hobnob, in which case you are correct, this is the greatest biscuit of them all. Followed by Jaffa Cakes.

if(jaffaCake.GetType() == typeof(Biscuit))
{
ApplyVAT(jaffaCake);
}

Markets quiet in the past hour. All metrics have slightly swung towards leave. As at 1320:

FTSE100 - 6,337 (up 1.2%)
£ - USD 1.487
Betfair - 1.14 (88% remain)

Sorry, a bit late. All metrics have moved towards leave for the second hour in a row. At 1423:

FTSE100 - 6,324 (up 1.0%)
£ - USD 1.485
Betfair - 1.15 (87% remain)

This old Woman doesen't seem to be very smart. The funny part of an society that is getting older every day is that the older poeple are voting for a system and future they will not experience.
Also she doesnt sound like a smart person.

Its not like she gonna feel the consequences of a exit anyway.

Can't stop laughing at the cover of The Sun today.

Waiting for Jeff Goldblum to arrive with an Apple laptop to save the UK. He's no less qualified than anyone doing the job at the moment.

Why am I not surprised The Sun wants out.

Man, this is the first time I've been this nervous for a referendum. I really hope we stay, it seems split but damn, I'M SCARED GUYS!

What is there to fuck up? Which ever side wins will be the right and correct choice as it's the democratic choice of the people.

It is the most democratic choice yes, unfortunately that doesn't mean it is the best one. A referendum assumes that the people voting have at least a basic knowledge of what they're voting on, which is not necessarily the case. That is especially true when it comes to the EU as an institution. It's part of the reason why we elect people to make decisions in the first place (which obviously has its downsides too, as we all know).

These movements are so incredibly tiny that it can't really mean anything surely? I mean, I'd expect the betting markets to shift back slightly as people take a punt on the odds that pay out the most.

If the city got hold of some actual exit polls which showed Leave winning, I would expect a very rapid and swift response.

Guess that's due to fears of low turnout in Scotland?

I don't think there's much to worry about in regards to a low Socttish turnout, people are still at work and they'll turn up to vote in the evening, no doubt about it.

I'm beginning to think that the level of hatred for the Muslims has now surpassed the level of hatred for the Gypsies at this point, something which I thought was impossible, the amount of scaremongering about Muslims invading(lol!) the UK is real.

And if the majority decides to vote out, will you be respectful and not throw your toys out of the pram? Not that I think that's going to happen, btw.

If we leave than I'll probably rage quit the internet for a long time. That's the extent of my throwing my toys out of the pram.

Agreed. The movements are barely more than a normal trading day.

I'm fortunate enough to be in a position that I can take my family to where the jobs and money go, so I suppose it depends what you mean by throwing my toys out of the pram. I wouldn't think twice about emigrating if that was what was best for me and my family, and maybe that's the ultimate toys out of the pram thing to do, fucking off and letting those left behind deal with the problem.

Honestly, I think the people who are being targeted to vote leave - the less well off, the less educated - are shooting themselves in the foot if they vote to leave. They will be the first ones to be hit by an (inevitable, according to every expert out there) economic downturn.

This is a great post but most people (myself included) prefer chatting on the internet as opposed to, you know, taking meaningful action. :)

Went with a bunch of GAFers to vote, one offered me a Wham bar, I said an Irn Bru bar was better, every waiting voter started fighting.

Voted, which is thankfully pretty easy with the polling station right across from me. Was fairly quiet, but then I think it always is, especially since I went in around midday.

How nervous are y'all?

I'm pretty damn nervous right now, terrified of Scotland+Weather+Scaremongering fucking everything up.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Someone mentioned a polling station being closed because of heavy rain earlier. Is that legit or is it just another one of these twitter rumours?

How nervous are y'all?
Not very. What will happen will happen and we will have to deal with it and the ensuing repercussions. I just hope the losing team, whichever team it is, is respectful of the public decision and that there are no sour grapes. A pipe dream, perhaps.
