Most snacks here in the states are gutter tier, honestly. Candy is mostly a wash, as a lot of it just tastes like straight sugar or has no taste at all. There are some exceptions, but it's a sad state of affairs for the most part. I will say this though... Utz Salt & Vinegar chips are Supreme Being Tier and at least we have them, even if everything else sucks haha.

I must try these. I've been to the states quite a few times and have never seen or bought these. Or if I've seen them I can't remember.

Ridicule it all you want, the fact is that people have a hard time identifying themselves with the such a large entity like the EU and don't feel represented at all. When most people don't even bother to vote, you've got a serious problem in your democracy.

Most English identify as being English before saying saying British. Time to break up the Union!

They aren't sold in every shop, but you can find em at big chains or random gas stations and convenience stores etc. Amazon sells them also but it's priced out the ass lol. These things are stupidly addicting, and very vinegary. I'm salivating just typing this reply hahaha

I'll be sure to try them next time I visit! :)

Most Scots when they get accidentally called English abroad punch the person responsible and then say "I'm Scottish ya cunt".

They aren't sold everywhere, or even in every state I don't think. I know it's definitely an East Coast brand, not sure about West Coast. These things are stupidly addicting, and very vinegary. I'm salivating just typing this reply hahaha

I've only been on the East coast. New York, Orlando and Miami.

Oh my god why did you have to start talking about crisps ;_;
I've been in Japan since September and crave a good bag every day
I'd suck a dick for a bag of flaming hot monster much right now

What ridicule? I have "a hard time identifying" with an entity the size of the UK - or even England - let alone the EU.

If we want out of Europe, why wouldn't we want out of the UK? And why do we insist on keep the North and South together? They are very clearly different. And then we'd still be lumping Bumfuck-On-Sea in with London - lunacy!

At what point did this argument become ridiculous?

Got a feeling Remain will win this by a clear 10 point margin at least. The last few days I've felt like more and more people will stay.

Just voted. Woop.

They really do give out pencils huh. I guess it's so people who make a mistake aren't given extra paper, and they keep account of them.

Go to Isetan food stores my friend. They even have Baked Beans in some stores (one in Mejiro does)

UTZ is based out of southern Pennsylvania, so if you are ever in the Washington DC/Pennsylvania/Maryland/Virginia area, you will see UTZ brand everywhere.

I gotta say, I absolutely love the pencil conspiracy, it encapsulates, perfectly, the paradox of conspiracy theories.

Regardless of how you feel, there is clearly far more solidarity between British people (for example) in general than there is between people who live on different sides of Europe.

The Eurozone crisis was a clear demonstration of that, northern European voters generally do not feel solidarity with people in Greece, Cyprus etc etc. That's why they punished them for being "reckless" and so on.

Feelings of solidarity between people in the same polity are necessary for any kind of social welfare for example. It's why we were able to introduce a welfare state after WW2 and why America has such problems with this, white voters there don't want their money going to minorities.

Just because you find things like patriotism/nationalism distasteful it doesn't mean you can pretend they don't exist.

Because England clearly has more in common with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland than with Spain, Poland and Greece.

No need to put up a straw man here.

So what's the status? Any mid-afternoon results in? Or will those only come in after the vote has closed?

Only after. You'll be looking to the am hours of tomorrow for any result at all.

Snoopers Charter. There you go - it wasn't possible to cast a vote against this at the last election, because the only two parties which aren't a wasted vote due to FPTP voting both backed it.

Oh I'm sure you can find specific examples to take issue with and I'm not trying to suggest that the sytem works flawlessly because it sure as hell does not but it is quite a jump from this to democracy (in the UK) being an illusion in general.

Are Leave people just more outspoken than Remain people? Down my street alone there is like 10 Leave posters in windows and no Remain ones. I've only seen a couple of Remain ones in my whole village...

Those who advocate change are typically louder than those who wish to maintain the status quo.

I live in London and I've only seen Remain people out on the streets, although I got some Leave leaflets through my door. The campaign is strongly divided by things like class and age, I could believe they there are huge geographical divides too.
