Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

Overall there's a couple things I want to pick up, but I think I'll wait for the steam servers to stop dying before that.

Oh, and Sunless sea is 9.50. Lovecraftian sea faring game with good writing. Give it a look.

The gameplay is indefensible hot fucking GARBAGE, and I say that as someone who genuinely enjoys W3's combat. The story is disjointed, confusing, and obviously very rushed in the last act. They made a great decision in basically ignoring everything that happened in W2 when they made W3. CDPR knew they fucked up and swept all that trash under the rug.

The combat is whatever but everything else is great. Might even prefer it overall to tw3 myself.

they've stabilized it but is the game worth 10 dollars or 15 for the game plus season pass? some people say it's good, some say it's hot garbage.

what to do

Approach it like an action horror game instead of a survival horror game and go in with really low expectations. Haven't played the DLC, but that's how I went into the main game and I ended up loving it. Definitely not a game for everyone though.

Mostly due to refunds. Publishers were worried that if they super-discounted something (even for a short amount of time) they could potentially lose the difference in price for all the sales of that game in the past two weeks.

Ahhh I can see that being a problem.

Sucks though, surely could've been some sort of systems in place for that. Oh well.

I know it's silly with The Sims 4 out now and pumping out expansion like mad, but all of the Sims 3 expansions are on 75% discount which is pretty rare for the Steam version.

I don't think it's possible to set up infrastructure that doesn't buckle under tens of millions of unique requests at the same second. There are even upstream failures from that kind of demand.

Someone with a better understanding of network infrastructure could explain it better than I can.

You're probably right. Maybe prohibitively expensive to do so too.

Holy shit it still doesn't work for me. Over 2 hours since the sale started. This is pathetic!

I doubt tens of millions of users are trying to access the store. I strongly doubt that.

Ok that's weird. The game I just tried to buy to have the page freeze is now in my library, yet the game is still in my cart and I never got a purchase confirmation. Huh.

Looked through my entire wishlist and found virtually nothing was above 30% off, bought one game and now the final purchase confirmation has been stuck on "Working" for over 10 mins. Should I quit out and try to buy again or am I going to be charged twice?

What do people think about Banner Saga 2? And has anyone tried it without finishing the first game? I was like halfway through and I think I lost my save to some old hard drive.

Bought and installed two games but they never left my cart lol. The store is working better this sale than in the past for me personally, it's slow but it isn't crashing or giving errors.

Stevens Sausage Roll not on sale :(

Yeah, I scratched my head on that one as well.

Real shame.

Game is going to place high on my GOTY list, but man the dev isn't doing himself any favors with pricing vs. discoverability.

SSR is definitely gonna go down as one of the best games of 2016 that no one played.

It's alright, perfectly enjoyable if you liked the first one. Be warned that it does not conclude the story however.

I sent my friend a gift but it says it's already been redeemed when they try to accept it.
It's not showing up in my inventory.
What do I do?

Proud to say I finally own HuniePop.

http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/498/ <-- $0.24 for three turds
http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/567 <-- $0.42 for 11 turds, this might be your all-time lowest per-game price ever
http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/800/ <-- $0.74 for 6 awful anime garbage turds
http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/473 <-- $0.30 for three dog related turds
(some numbers might be slightly different depending on which turds you own or don't own already)

just in case you guys want to maximize the +1s for your dollar

Dead Rising 2 Off the Record tells the same events from a slightly different perspective and you play as the main character of Dead Rising 1. I don't know exactly how far they diverge in terms of content.

Tinboy is seriously one of the worst games I've played that cost actual money.

Well, that is a little bit disappointing.... Way too many -20% or -30% discounts in my wishlist and way too little -75%. What a shame... Like, what's the difference to the usual weekend sales?

Narrowed my possible buys to:

Sunless Sea
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Xenonauts
The Banner Saga 2
Half-Life Bundle
Lisa

Not sure which of these to get.

Sunless Sea is a great atmospheric game, the writing and visuals nail the eldritch abomination-infested world perfectly. It can get kind of tedious after a while, though. Movement speed is very slow on the early ships and there's only so much you can experience before you've seen most of the game, plus you'll have to travel back and forth between the same ports if you really want to make a lot of money. The submarine DLC should be coming soon™, so it'll have more content.

For europeans always check the developer site on Indie titles. Some have a simultanious sale through Humble widget and it's often cheaper when you pay in dollars (and the developer gets more money).

For example you can get Hyper Light Drifter for $15.99 instead of 15.99€ directly through steam.

What do I do?

Yeah, my brother sent me Morrowind and I'm having the same problem.

I think it might be due to the Steam servers, but I'm not sure. Never had this happen before.

You know what would be great? If I could play these games on a 1080... Guess I'll just buy them for when I get my 1080 one day.
