I mean...just like with the Vailgurad and cocncord...and in the opposite way with Arc...there are infiltrated people in games media that are going to push a narrative/agenda; fake review scores. Marathon screams like a 7/10 game anyway.

Marathon could review better and still not be better or perform better. I do not think it will be better than ARC raiders though. I thought ARC had great aesthetics and a good tutorial, but I hated the pvp aspect. marathon has no aesthetic appeal and has PvP that looks bad.

Eh?

Your post is making my brain hurt.

If you enjoy a game im fairly certain you'd be able to find a few players out of the 8 billion folks on the planet to play with regardless of review score.
But if the game is not popular then there are less people play it I mean isn't what happened with game like Concord?

No, because even it ends being the best game ever, as we already seen it will get shit from:
  • Xbox, Nintendo, PC fanboys hating whatever Sony does
  • Xbox fanboys who hate to see Bungie bought by Sony
  • PC fanboys who hate PlayStation
  • Bungie fanboys who hate to see Bungie working in something that isn't Destiny 2 or 3
  • Bungie fanboys who hate to see they sold the company to Sony
  • PlayStation fanboys who hate to see Sony releasing games (and day one) outside PS
  • PlayStation fanboys who hate to see Sony working on multiplayer games
  • PlayStation fanboys who hate to see Sony working on GaaS titles
Arc Raiders didn't have all that against it
  • Players who hate forced braind dead aim assist(s).

It's Bungie… I think the game will be good but the real question is will people be willing to abandon arc raiders, battlefield 6, Fornite or call of duty to start playing it?

And that's the challenge most of these online based games have now.

I think they'll get a small percentage from each of those games, but I think the bigger question is whether they can attract Bungie fans / Destiny fans / Halo fans. There's a significant market there if they can pull them in.

Mid 60s to low 70s. Game journalists will use the release as an opportunity to soapbox about Bungie's various problems and Sony's live service woes. But it's no more than they deserve.

Your post has nothing to do with reviews.
My post applies to both user reviews and gaming media reviews.

Also, the bolded...how do you explain games like Helldivers 2?
Opinions of anti-Sony fanboys and haters aren't representative of the whole playerbase at all, they are just a tiny noisy portion.

Helldivers 2 got a 82 MC metascore, 7.5 MC user score and so far 76.63% positive Steam reviews, which are pretty mediocre. Many people laughed at it before launch and said it was going to tank.

But in sales it has been the fastest selling Sony game ever and seems to be on track to be Sony's best selling and top grossing game ever.

All your points are bubbles that are meaningless in the end.
Yes, haters and fanboys are often noisy and toxic but a tiny portion of the userbase, whish isn't representative of the total gamer userbase, which explains the frequent big differences between media reviews, user reviews and game sales.

But I definitely think people should give up the whole Concord thing, go give that to Highguard, lol.
Its reveal trailer got 20M views very quickly, over half a million people applied to its open alpha even if it was limited to NA. In a few hours Marathon got top 10 in Steam Global top sellers (top 5 if you only count paid games) just with preorders.

Make sure Marathon won't tank hard like Concord despite very likely is going to receive harsh and worse than deserved media and user reviews independently if good or not.

I don't think it will, Bungie is a studio that people love to hate and criticize, its a Playstation studio, and the game had a few controversies surrounding it. But I want to believe the game will turn out good. The price point feels right and the impressions I've read so far is that the game isn't a disaster, even great at times. I want to say Bungie/Sony will support this game in the long run, but who knows after Concord. When their back is against the wall, Bungie can pull off really amazing things. I'm hoping Marathon is one of them, now that I've grown to enjoy extraction games thanks to Arc.
