Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

Why is Obsidian so stingy with the PoE Expansion pricing? Only 25% discount, guess I'll wait another year or so until it gets a decent discount ;p. They could at least discount part I to 50% off, as part 2 isn't that old. What was the discount at the GoG sale? The expansion pack was even pulled a day early from the summer sale at GoG ;p.

First time this has ever happened...

I bought something, it said credit card declined. Then I look in my shopping cart and it says I already own all those games, I go to my library and sure enough they're there. But when I go to install it says the order is being processed?

Never had this happen. Should I call CC company or just wait?

I got the same message. Just wait

Double yay. I had a ton of fun with it and need to go back to get 100%
I've been watching it, so that's good to know.
Transformers is better than Korra, especially if you're prone to nostalgia.
I'm only 22, I have no nostalgia :p
Have you ever played Outland?
I have not but it looks interesting.

Another question, the "Age of..." games - I hear Empires II and Mythologies both have issues now since their latest patches. Is that true? I don't want them if they play like poo.

What in the world....why am I getting a credit card declined error while trying to use my steam wallet that has funds in it already? Anyone else getting this?

I also had an error show up while only trying to use steam funds, I deleted everything from my cart and re-added and it went away.

This sale is super wonky so far

Talk about a bad user experience. Half the time all I see is an error message, I can´t browse through the discovery queue because it asks me to sign in (?) I can barely put anything on the cart, and when I do, it is pretty much impossible to checkout.

Wow, those call of duty prices sure are tempting. /s

And almost all of the sonic games being discounted can be all bought together for $10 on Humble. Just sayin'.

Day one pick ups....

Grow Home £3
Sir, You Are Being Hunted £3
Skullgirls £2.10
The King Of Fighters XIII £3.75
Crimzon Clover £1.40
Ikaruga £3.50
Raiden IV: Overkill £2.75

Jesus I can't even navigate to the store page of a game 95% of the time.

...now it says I'm not logged in.

Wow the servers are getting smashed.

By the way, I'm also on the fence on YouTubers Life, the YouTuber sim game. To anyone who has it, would you recommend it?

I love your avatar! matches mine! I used to have a collection of the old Nintendo Power Mario comics and it had wedding Bowser in it.

Good to hear about Shadowrun. I'll get the cheaper one. Is there a thread how there sometimes is about lesser known games that get lost in the madness that have good discounts?

I purchased a gift, Steam took my money but the gifted never received the mail with the gift, and I can't see it in my inventory, almost 3 hours passed.

Saw Doorkickers is super cheap so I am finally picking that up. Also gonna get Invisible Inc. Doom is tempting but not sure yet...

Same with Darkest Dungeon, Axiom Verge, Hyper Light Drifter.

Has anyone ever done a serious analysis on how good the deals are on Steam are now vs. 3-4 years ago? Because it really does feel like they've gotten way shittier over time, and I swear it's not just in my head.

I've never seen so many piddly 20%, 33%, 50% sales featured. You used to routinely see AAA games going for 75% off a year or two after release. Some games are still following that pattern roughly (e.g. DOOM at 40% right after release), but man, there's a lot of hot nothing. Games with no discount at all, games with worse discounts than the GOG sale that just ended, games with higher prices than earlier Steam sales, three-year-old indie games with shockingly stingy 33% off tags. Seems like we're finally seeing the end of Steam as an actual source of decent deals.

Batman: Arkham City GOTY
Batman: Arkham Origins
Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY
Tomb Raider GOTY
Mass Effect Collection
Lego Lord of the Rings
Lego Batman 3 Premium Edition
NBA 2K16
Stardew Valley

That's all I need

I bet Valve techs are feeling a sense of happiness Steam is such a huge success, and half is sheer panic that they're literally losing thousands of dollars every minute servers are wonky.

Nice first day, cleared a bit of the wishlist.

House of Hell
Starship Traveller
Serpent in the Staglands
Mafia II
Offworld Trading Company
STASIS
Caverns of the Snow Witch
Appointment With FEAR
Far Cry® 4
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak
The Forest of Doom
UnderRail

Steam, if it happens 50 times, it's no longer an unexpected error. I expected it.

Valve didn't expect this. Not this sale. Or last sale. Or any of the years before this, especially when it happened every day of Summer/Winter at 1PM Eastern when the dailies changed. Nope. Didn't see it coming. Gaben thought they'd be fine.

NBA 2K16's online is T R A S H. Fair warning to those buying it. Spike Lee story is funny, though, lmao.

Glad to hear that! I'm excited to finally get to play it :D

Overall the sale is fairly disappointing but I guess I'm still comparing to 2 years ago when everything was super cheap, hasn't been like that for the past couple.

It does feel like an underwhelming sale and it does seem like we see these same deals on every other gaming site so often now, that the steam sale means a lot less than it used to.

But I just got a new graphics card so I'm buying a bunch of stuff.

yeah i can't remember which year was the first year i got in the summer sale but i felt like i got so many games for so cheap. still, there's some deals to be had here

Cool

I finished my "Discovery Queue" after nearly 4 hours of errors and didn't get a trading card.

Cool

There are games on my wishlist I want to buy, but in its current state, there is no way I'm putting any funds into my Steam wallet. Just have to wait for Valve to give a shit.

And it is thousand of dollars.

You would think they'd be on their shit by now.

I mean. If you can't even run Steam for what it was made for....
