Turnout for the City of London was 73.58 per cent, returning officer Charlie Parker has said.

Only 73? Lazy.

So the polls swung towards remain after the Nazi-esque Farage poster and the tragic murder of Jo Cox.

The chilling possibility is that there was no genuine late swing, but rather that Leave voters went into "shy Tory" mode for the last week.

Fuck.

That's...not how business works? The clients will go asap. You can't replace them instantly, and it will be much harder to replace them because we aren't in the EU.

Several people have posted that a leave result means they lose their jobs in this thread, including myself, so I don't think people should be trying to explain how they are wrong on these things.
Didn't say people are wrong. Just that it won't be "Britain leaves the EU next monday", it'll be a step-by-step process over a longer period of time. Obviously businesses well do whatever they do, that is to be expected.

A "post-truth kind of campaign". Wow.

As an ex-pat this doesn't affect me immediately, but the long term impact likely sucks for me if the UK gets more insular.

I think that most shy Tories will do what their PM tells them to do..

It depends on if they're shy Tories because they're worried what people think though. There's been a lot of snide attacks on Leave voters rather than Leave arguments, similar thing happened in the GE.

It will be hilarious if our economy tanks and these low paid workers who voted leave get punished the most.
I don't know how a situation where the poorest people in our society becoming even poorer can be described as hilarious.

A leave vote will be a disaster for the underclass and working class in this country.

Just sitting watching BBC News like:

Forget the damage the germany and france would do to the UK. You're forgetting asian multinational companies who would take their investments and jobs elsewhere.

I cannot believe people would be sabotaging themselves in this country
Well, the raking is as a warning for any future leavers.

Dear America,

Help

P.s help help oh God

Regards, remnants of UK

It's weird watching this from the perspective of an outsider (I'm a U.S citizen)

A lot of the arguments the "Leave" people are making are eerily similar to the tones Trump is making when he talks about building a wall. His support also comes from mostly our Rural uneducated areas.

That's some nasty shit right there.

But it's ok as long as the wealthy remain so huh.
He's not wrong though, these are exactly the people who would be hit hardest. It's not about being smug (it certainly would not be hilarious), it's just reality.

Coleshill is rumored to be stronger Leave than expectations

Hartlepool was also expected to vote for Leave, but now it looks like it could be as high as 70%
