Sad to see, there were quite a few japanese streamers that used Ustream as their main broadcast service. I prefer them using ustream over crummy nicovideo

What's up with the title?

Is live from PlayStation coming to an end or just Ustrean?

Live from Playstation supports multiple streaming solutions. One of those was Ustream. That's the one people tend to use for their Playroom sessiosn were they just sit in front of the screen vaping or having sex.

I imagine it's a gentle rib at Sony as a result of effectively shutting down Playroom broadcasts, which garnered a lot of attention to Live From Playstation in the first place.

I guess we might see some migration to Daily Motion, but I'm not sure how much policing they do compared to UStream.

Ustream is essentially dead and it doesn't seem like anyone moderates it, which means that where's all the really weird shit would go down on Live from Playstation.

Thanks for the info :)

Playroom was pretty much the only thing keeping UStream afloat, especially after Twitch banned the game from being broadcasted on their service.

Did they ban Playroom itself or just require the content of your Playroom session to be gaming related.

I assume something like the Level Up Show is safe. I think they use Twitch.

That might be more accurate, but LUS is about the only time anyone has ever used Playroom for anything gaming related.

That's probably true. I think other people tried to start up their own shows but LUS is the only one that had any sort of success.

I am going to miss the Ustream Playroom stuff. I would just watch it late at night for the weird shit going on. It was mildly entertaining.

There are already a few playroom broadcast on YouTube and DM. Once Ustream support ends im sure most will just move permanently to those.

No more interactive features though. :(

Playroom will never be the same again. Where else am I going to see people show off their knife/sword collection.

A lot of people seem to get on Playroom before they hit the clubs. A large group of friends dressed for a night out but sitting in front of a camera for some reason. A lot of guys showing off their girlfriends while people say disgusting shit. I think people got off on that sort of thing.

Man I remember when Ustream was the the thing for a minute before Twitch took over the world.

You clearly remember wrong, because it was way longer than that. People migrated from livestream to ustream over time, because the latter got better and better until they eventually fucked up in 2010 and people migrated to Justin.tv (it was pretty much an exodus). Ustream was the largest international streaming service for over a year.

Too bad, I had a lot of fun watching people do incredibly dumb shit. But I understand that Sony doesn't want to be potentially associated with something that is basically isn't moderated at all.

Oh man, fuck this.

No more

"Dude with a goat in his bedroom"
"Aussie dude having a bbq in the middle of the outback"
"Michael Jackson impersonators in a 3ft by 4ft room"
"LaraCroft2me being in such a drunken state that he takes his mask off"
"Dude streaming from his hospital bed"
"WWE fan dancing in his apartment"
"Lads planting cigarette packets in the street and seeing which tramp will pick it up live on Ustream"

..............

You will be missed Ustream on Live from Playstation :'(

It was moderated though. There's even a report option. Plenty of streams always get banned.

Anyone who's going to miss strangers streaming weird shit should download an app called Periscope. If you have an apple TV you can even watch it on the big screen.

No worries.
The people doing "weird stuff" have since moved to Dailymotion anyway...( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

True, but compared to something like Twitch, it was a wild place. It wasn't hard finding people getting piss drunk, saying real dumb and often offensive stuff, taking off their clothes, etc., on a friday/saturday night. It was moderated, but the rate at which things got banned was much slower than on something like Twitch, at least in my experience.

This stuff can't be real, can it? Did people really do this?
