Pokémon Go is live on the Google Play Store

Whoo installing the APK on my Galaxy Note 5 :D

I am gonna go to the park later, I can't believe it has pics of real world stuff near your house for PokéStops like random things in the park near my house.

I played this for about a month or two.. a "game" is kinda stretching it.

After installing it I was somewhat shocked at how bare-bones this is. You think "real-life mobile pokemon" would be the hardest thing to fuck up but they did it anyway.

Well, Ingress or whatever it was called was vastly more fun to think about at a conceptual level than it was to play as an actual game, so knowing this was a pokemon themed version of that...

game started up, 3 pokemon showed, nothing is working further.

Maybe I need to activate my gps?

I can tap and it responds but doesn't do anything.

Installed, caught a Bulbasaur, game asked me to walk around to find more Pokemon I guess.

The latter is all I'm looking for really. Between walking to class, work, and taking my dogs out I spend a solid 1-2 hours a day just walking around. If I can also catch Pokemon while I do this I'm more than down.

The problem is there is a significant lack of stuff to do with those Pokemon.

Yolo let's do this! Thanks OP!

Is it really that bad, the IGN people seemed to have quite an experience with it.

Its more or less probably a Pokemon experience in the same way Brave Exvius or DQ Monsters Super are Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest experiences. Minute distractions at best, nothing to invest in like the main series.

I just went into my neighbors backyard to catch a Pidgey. I'm doing it. I can finally become a Pokemon Master.

I really wanted to name myself Yellow. >.>

Played around during the beta. It's an alright time waster.

The real crime is the battery drain. It'll melt your phone and use up all your juice.

I feel like a mobile pokémon AR game is the easiest premise in the world, and somehow they managed to not do it right ...

I have no idea what I just watched, but yeah. That's incredibly disappointing?

I'll wait until I've spent a few days with it, but I'm not super clear on why they could just copy/paste the existing battle system.

because they want people to buy their 40 dollars game?

They could but living up to potential is a no no for Pokémon.

Crazy that they wasted their time on this when they could make a gacha game and have their world domination plans funded in a day.

The .apk works fine on Moto X Play, I live in Canada.

I didn't follow the development and oh boy, what a letdown. I had some hype to fight my friends between classes and work but I guess this will not happen.

What portion of the userbase is going to stop playing traditional mainline Pokemon releases just because they can get the same battle system in a free app? Also, it's not like they aren't going to make money off of the app itself. Anecdotally, I was even going to buy the completely unnecessary wrist strap.

You say "completely unnecessary" and I say "the best way to farm candy without draining my battery."

Works fine on my OPO.

But I didn't realise I could only get one of the three starters. I picked the nearest one from me.

Bulbasaur. :(

Worst starter.

It's available to US users who were in the beta and oceanic region users as per the norm for literally mobile game ever. They use that region as their go live testing ground.

As for the user reviews, since the app is live, but not available, anyone can count on it. My daughter and I are going out for a walk around the neighborhood so I'll report back on how I like it!

Because this isn't a main series Pokemon game. It's Ingress with a Pokemon skin.

Pokémon don't show up on AR mode. Weird, but I suppose this is still beta.

Good luck to me and other folks playing this on violent 3rd world countries. I hope I don't get killed trying to capture Pokémon!

Played until it wanted me to go for a walk. Too bad it's absolutely pouring outside and it's dark out too. I just hope I can actually find anything living out in the boonies.

I was really falling asleep during the Q&A at E3 for this game and i feel like its gonna need major updates to be worth playing for more than a day. I still wanna try it but it looks lacking.
