Barely fitted my Gamerock 1080 yesterday, phew.
Also, the jump from a 970 has been MASSIVE. This thing powers through DOOM at 1440@ULTRA effortlessly, tempted to crank the res up to 1620p and see how it runs.
Amzing GPU.

Question. I have the 1080 FE and i would like to know what are mu options for closed water cooler. ? I need something with a plate if possible so the card doesnt bend . The kraken g10 seems fine but it doesnt cover the top and the card can bend ( i had this problem with my closed custom watercooler 290x from kraken x60 and g10
EVGA will have AIO kits for the reference board at some point in the future. Best bet probably end of July or early August. I guess it will come with a backplate considering every 1080 in their line up has one I think.
You would need to grab a backplate from EVGA, etc. Shim is required if you're going to use one.
The Corsair HG10 works, but you have to cut out a little part of it to fit 100%. I'm using the G10 now.
35% higher price for 20% more performance.
Value wise, it's potentially worse. But that also depends on your current card...if you're coming from a GTX 970, then the performance increase per dollar might be just as good for the GTX 1080.
But forgetting value, and just focusing on price and your performance target: the 1070 is plenty.
I have a 1080p 144Hz monitor and some of the more demanding games out there run without a hitch:
DOOM runs at 150-200fps
GTA V runs at 80-100fps.
Witcher 3 runs at 70-90 fps.

the hybrid is coming out mid july. So AIO kits will either come out at the same time or later. 2 models, reference and FTW AIO kits.
Their hybrid definitely has a backplate but there has been no confirmation whether or not their stand-alone kit has.

They tend to contact with the memory chips on the back of the PCB and cool them down. They also look cool

Btw off topic question. Usually, when a ti version comes out ? I am aiming to have 4k 60fps. Dont have 4k monitor yet. And i am wondering if someone would sell his 1080 for ti version later
Just got my New Palit 1080 GameRock card and boy is it a beast. The cooler takes up 3 PCIE slots but the cooling is well worth it. The fans don't actually spin up until the temperature reaches 50c and even when they do spin up it's almost silent. The max temp while overclocked has been 75c and I couldn't hear a thing and the fan was at 55%. So far I've got the core clock upto 2038 and the memory is running at 11000 but could go more for sure.
This card is in stock on OCUK for £600 right now so if anybody is sitting waiting for another brand to come in to stock don't bother and grab this, I'm glad I did.
Oh and also the card comes with dual bios so you don't have to worry about screwing up a flash which was one of the reasons I was waiting so patiently for the FTW to come into stock. All the GameRock reviews have just come out on Google over the last couple of days and I recommend you check out the techpowerup review.

Amazon isn't stocking the FTW card on the 9th, but one of their marketplace vendors is. They're also taking orders for the card at ~$950. MSRP is $680.
It's just a scalping preorder.

What CPU and RAM do you have? I have a 970 myself and have been thinking of jumping up to a 1080, but I'm worried about CPU bottlenecks with my 3570K.

Cranked up the resolution in DooM up to 2880x1620 and the lowest fps I've seen is 77fps.

I specifically bought a 1440p 144Hz monitor for my 1080 card (which I still haven't received though) because I thought the card would be wasted on my older 1080p 144Hz monitor (would have gone for 1070 + my old monitor if I wanted to save money). On the other hand, if you don't like to upgrade often or you plan on getting a new monitor in the future, the 1080 might be a good choice.
Got mine today too! Managed to nab it for £590 before it jumped up overnight.
Getting the same sort of temps - around 75/76 degrees at 50% fan, and it's a pretty hot day here today, about 26 degrees in the room. Mine doesn't clock as high as yours unfortunately, core seems to be topping out at around 1974, memory I left at 11000 but I think that can at least go further. I'm not too bothered about a frame or two here and there though. Aside from the neon green explosion of light coming out the back of my case that I need to disable, I agree, seems like a fantastic card! Doom screams at 130+ FPS at 1440p.
Apparently Palit/Gainward are sadly not available in the US.
Totally had a Zotac in my amazon shopping account last night and pulled the trigger... Going travelling for two weeks though before moving back to the UK from the US so thought better of it. Cancelled the order as I already bought a Surface Pro 4 the same evening.
I can grab a 1080 once it's actually in stock next month or after - wouldn't be using it until then anyway. Plus, the pound is so low right now that buying it in the UK is actually almost the same price as the US right now. Wouldn't even make much of a saving just holding on to it for now...

FYI, 1080s are £620 minimum, that includes VAT. That is likely to go up, certainly the EVGA Hybrid 1080s have gone up £50 in the last week or so.

I'd be very interested to hear any feedback you might have. I have a 780ti and a ROG swift - and am looking to go to a 1080 at some stage
Likely due to increased demand. The Zotac I nearly bought here was around 580GBP once I did the conversion so it's not a huge amount in terms of difference.
I'm thinking I won't even have the time to use my PC until late-August anyway once all this nonsense has died down. Felt better buying a card in the UK too in case of issues - would hate to find myself with a non-function GPU from a vendor that's now an ocean away...

Thanks, all the reviews mention it but no one seems to be using the feature, appreciate the feedback. Still waiting for my card, I'm starting to have doubts about it, I mean there were rumors that they had issues with this card and now a new Strix is coming without the OC. EVGA and Gainward had several cards up on online stores yesterday and today and Asus still hasn't delivered squat...

Yup, me too. Although I'll probably be getting a second one at some point during the next couple of years when VR games start supporting 1 GPU per eye.
Will be able to afford to get mine in August and then will get my Rift in November.

Why didn't you just RMA it? EVGA is great about RMA and manufacturers hold back stock for this purpose.

Well, that's the one advantage for me as someone moving from the US back to the UK - my savings are worth A LOT more.
And, as a result, price discrepancy between the two countries are minimised (even if it is artificially so).

OK, so I'm losing patience waiting for my card from overclockers.co.uk. It has missed its ETA a few times and right now it doesn't even have an ETA (the Inno3D GeForce GTX 1080 iChill Air Boss X3
). I'm considering cancelling it and ordering either the Palit GameRock or the Palit Jetstream instead since they're in stock. The question is, which one should I get? And also, is it easy to cancel orders on overclockers (I don't notice any cancel button)? Do I need to send them an e-mail?

Not sure about cancelling orders but just to throw another choice of card in your direction you might want to take a look at the Zotac Amp Extreme too. It's got a boost clock of 1911MHz and has the VRAM overclocked to 10.8GHz giving you 345.6 GBps of memory bandwidth.
Ebuyer will have them in stock on Friday apparently and will set you back £672.99, 23 quid cheaper than the same card from Overclockers (who also don't currently have them in stock).
That VRAM overclock out of the box combined with its boost speed should make it the fastest card out there, although I haven't seen any reviews yet. Zotac seem confident about the reliability of it too, they've given it a 5 year warranty. :Oo
