Pokémon Go is live on the Google Play Store

That Twitter guy's supposed "source":

Can they even do that?

I've downloaded several APKs before, hell even Ingress because the install on Google Play was being weird, I have never been banned from anything.

This is just fear mongering

Even he doesn't believe it, he just posted a sensationalist tweet for nothing

Lack of information about a highly desired product is bound to create this paranoia.
Y'all need to stop worrying. I've never heard of bannings happen on games when you get them before a local launch. That'd be absurd.

Servers are down because the game isn't officially launched yet and they're either
  1. Not prepared for the onslaught of players downloading the apk and getting in early along with players from regions where the game has released
  2. Closing the servers for a bit so they can launch the game in other territories

This is the dumbest shit known to man, but I should have seen this coming.

Pokemon appeals to a wider audience so you get a ton of people clamoring who aren't usually use to these types of betas, slow rollouts, server problems ect.. and people just go full office space.

Huh, my brother who thinks that Pokemon was 'kiddy' just messaged me asking all about this. I also see this a lot on my facebook feed from people who I know no longer plays videogames. I can't help but think that there is definitely a lot of interest out there but can't help but think that there are going to be a lot of disappointed people soon...

Or maybe they won't care. Imagine if Nintendo really puts a lot of effort into this...

Damn, wild Eggsecutor showed up, I tossed one ball at it, it broke out and escaped. Has anyone found out any more mechanics to the catching system besides the curve ball?

Yes, later you can pick up Razzberries from Pokestops, which will help with catching Pokemon, but you can only use a Razz once per catch attempt. You'll need to level up your character before they appear if I remember correctly.

Fixed.

Happening the same to me, a lot of people who don't play videogames anymore are into this with a lot of hype. I hope it does well after some time.

Yeah not buying the ban story. Would be a dumb move to ban the people most interested in your game. And since the app is free anyways it doesn't really matter. Except for the fact that more people are on the servers than they would have hoped/expected at this point.

Is the game any fun? Worth the download?
It's free, it's pretty fun for essentially a little time waster, especially if you live anywhere/travel to a city and walk at all outside.

In my brief time with it, I had a blast tossing Pokeballs and trying to catch Pokemon..and sometimes missing because of the depth and distance the Pokemon was away. It's a mechanic I'd like to see maybe in the main games one day where it's not just a "tap to throw" thing.

Evolution is weird because of getting extra Pokemon, and i'd really like to see some sort of "box" system in the game since there's so many Pokemon you can get and I don't really care to look at them all at once. Or like "folders" where Pokemon of the same type are all put into a "folder" with the first caught in the front (or your strongest or whatever)

I'd like to see actually battling and trading implemented sooner rather than later.

I still have no idea what use the nearby page is or what tapping a Pokemon in it and putting a circle around the guy does.

Seems to me that the feet are some sort of distance meter (one is close, 2 is somewhat close, 3 is far away)

tapping one of the mons will keep it there as a reminder of sorts for how far you'll have to go.

Friends and I stayed up until 230 driving around the block catching mons and visiting pokestops. Lots of fun! I hope it ends up like Ingress where it's competitive. So far I don't see anything regarding which team has the most dominance in an area like Ingress.

There probably aren't enough players who have advanced enough for there to be any sort of territory control. Give it a few days.

I'd assume that will be coming later on? Having two big bars with both sides, their points and all that, is really cool. Wonder how much will they push the team competitiveness.

Exactly. This is gaming's panacea if they treat it well. But they won't, because Nintendo wants to sell fossils, I mean, portable gaming consoles.

Someone will though.

I cannot see them permanently banning devices especially for a f2p game. Sounds like that person is just trying to scare people.

Nintendo didn't make it. Their name isn't even in the game.

So try again.
If you think Niantic or the Pokémon company is some kind of autonomous entity I have a bridge to sell you.

So, any word from official channels on the launch? I think the silence is kind of weird, the game is becoming viral!

I named my trainer wrong and didnt customize it just for test. It was chained to my Google Account.

Isn't there anything I can do to fix that shit? T-T

Niantic is the developer and publisher of the game. No more and no less. What do you mean?

No word about the game from them even in the month of July.

We don't need a full Poke game. We just need tweaks to this.

So like in a year add in more Poke to catch. Add in some form of trading system. Add in PvP battles. Unlock more raids. Shit like that.
Yes. Being able to battle some random NPCs if you live far away from society would be awesome too. I would also love if we had to battle a Pokémon before trying to catch it as well as being able to select which moves we would like our Pokémon to use in battle.

I wonder when the full release hits if there will be a place to submit more locations for Pokestops and Gyms similar to Ingress. I checked the layout in my town and while it's not a small town I was still surprised at the amount of locations especially at my university but would love to submit more for there specifically and help rearrange some as they're kind of off on the GPS.

Great, so now Pokémon Go is broken for us Aussies because all you impatient dickheads just couldn't wait for it to go live in your own region. :P

Is there an actual bonus to it? I usually do it, but have never seen a "curveball bonus". Also, the difference between a "nice" throw and a regular one? No clue.
