Ehhh.... good writing can address that. Maybe Spidey still holds her in his heart or maybe Gwen is still alive in some form. Just let a diehard Spidey fan be the Spidey he wanna be. Sprinkle some romance in this dang game or I'm outta here.

Bye Felicia.

J/K: just had too. I see what you mean though. The animated series did focus on some meaningful relationships.

I want the spider sense to go off when Peter suspects he is going to get dated.
Seriously though, a mechanic ala infamous would be great, but instead of good/evil we would get a Peter/Spider

So a Carol/Peter romance would make this an instant 20/10.

Sorry Slay

#believe

I'll take whatever Carol content Marvel wants to give me.

BELIEVE! Hopefully a developer from the game is reading this thread and taking notes or something.

Well shit.

I'd lose all respect. Stick by your vision and design insomniac.

Edit:there will definitely be costume skins as well

fan bitching saved us from a horrible looking Cole in Infamous 2, though

they've hinted that there are story reasons for the white parts of the costume. I doubt they'd change the design and is guess alternate suits would be a new game + thing

My guess is that
the white parts of the suit are actually the symbiote and it's just in its very early stages of taking over Parker

Dating sim elements would make sense for a Spider-Man game.

I think it depends on how much player agency you want in the outcome of the story. I personally would rather have a very strong, defined arc for the story with whatever relationships best serve the narrative. I know you can still tell a good story with lots of (or at least the illusion of) player agency but I don't think that's what I want from this game. Even stuff like the what, four(?) possible outcomes in Web of Shadows watered down the experience for me.

I know everyone wants different things though. Ask 1000 people what they want for a given video game and you'll get 1000 different versions.

*fist bump*

lol what? That's seems pretty stupid to me.

Better to have a year in mind, and generally state when you feel you're going to reach it.

Maybe for us, but for the devs, not so good. Development realities settle in, problems with QA, etc. It's better to be sure and then say when you're going to release it.

Not sure why that is bad news since they are not going to confirm holiday 2017 anytime this year. We will get a solid date next e3 like last guardian or horizon which falls in the "not anytime soon" tweet
Right. That tweet doesn't indicate anything we didn't already know or suspect. We'll get a release date at E3 2017.

I'm glad we're getting adult/veteran spider-man. But, I still think the outfit is ghastly and lack of a PC version is disappointing- for preservation and backwards compatibility more than anything else.

Do you say this about every console exclusive, or just when you're port begging? Seems a bit odd to single this game out as being in need of "preservation and backwards compatibility".

Why are people bummed about a tweet that didn't actually tell us anything other than they aren't announcing a release date yet?

The game isn't hitting 2016, that's obvious. Chances are, it's hitting sometime in 2017, because Insomniac has said that they've been working on this title for a while. I think they also mentioned they're using their latest engine, which they've used on Sunset Overdrive and Ratchet and Clank PS4.

At the very least, the game still has 6-12 months remaining of dev time. That's a LOT of time to work on a game. What they showed at E3 looks super polished. More polished than many games that still have 12 months at the least dev time to go. I've worked in the industry for over 10 years, and I've seen games go from pre-alpha to feature complete and release in the span of 12 months. Spider-Man did not look rough. It did not look early. It looked very clean. They've still got months and months of polish left of course, but nothing from what we've seen screams 2018 and beyond.

I believe the reason for keeping mum on potential release dates is because gamers lose their fucking SHIT when a game even has a single delay. Look at No Man's Sky. Delayed 3 months, and people were sending the developers death threats. It's ridiculous. Sony more than any publisher seems to get a lot more flack for delays in their titles. Promising Spider-Man in 2017, then having to push it for whatever reason (maybe QA, maybe the release pipeline is so crowded that, financially, it would be smarter to release later compared to other titles in that same window), will do nothing but cause unnecessary drama with gamers, who really devolve into petulant children when their hyped anticipated game doesn't release precisely when the developers said they would a year ago. We'll get a release date when Insomniac and Sony are comfortable in giving a release date. No comment on it doesn't mean it's slipping into 2018. There's still Comicon and PlayStation Experience, and then GDC. Plenty of time to cover the game leading up its release.

I personally think it's a 2017 title. Not sure what quarter. I wouldn't be surprised of a Q2 or Q3 release. The game looks fairly far along from the trailer.

I think they have only been working on it for a year. Spring 2018.

Well shit.

Do keep in mind that they didn't announce Last Guardian's release date until this E3. They aren't afraid to hold out on announcing release dates until just a few months before release, so that tweet doesn't really mean anything as far as the release date goes. They could announce it at E3 or Gamescom 2017 for November/December 2017

It will be joining 2018 along with Kojima's new game.

I couldn't help but chuckle at this. I'd eat my hat if it comes out in 2018.

I wonder how far along (or early along) in development this game is. We know Kojimas game hasn't even started at the time of it being named Deaths Stranding.

less than two years

LOL no

Kojima's game is late 2019 at the earliest.

Hahahahah yikes!!! The game isn't coming until 2019??? So why do you guys think the game was announced/revealed so early???? Heck, SpideyPS4 might be PS4's 2018 game.

It was Kojima that's why lol that's all that needs to be said. As far as Spiderman goes I definitely think it's 2018

Preservation is only possible on PC don't you know?!

It's a particularly weird thing to (feign) concern about given that, now architectures have settled down, we're probably looking at iterative future console releases with backwards compatibility on all future models. Rest assured, preservationists, that if we eventually do reach a point where an off-the-shelf PlayStation can't run Spider-Man then we'll also be far enough in the future for PS4 emulation to be available on PC.

I do hope there's a spider-sense slo-mo aim mode to make, say, slinging down onto a moving vehicle easier and flashier without relying on auto-sticking once in the vicinity.

This could also be used for those hero shots I was yearning for a few pages back.

I'm really interested to see how they pull this off due to the character restraints. I do not want a Final Fantasy style continous drip feeding of information. Let me sit here and cultivate and then push all the heavenly energy through my meridians so I can power up gaining all types of introspection in the wondrous Spidey laws.

Questions I hope get answered:
Is there a morality system?
How far can this morality system go?
Are there branching storyline paths?
Is it possible to literally become public enemy number 1? Public enemy number 1 means every time you save a civilian due to negative notoriety cops show up and you have to escape them. If your wanted level gets high enough then SHIELD will chase you.
This game needs a photo mode.
Is there a customizable home base?
Are there multiple points of entry for enemy bases?

I could care less about a release date as long as they get the game right. Nail the trials and tribulations of Peter Parker. The combat system should be set in stone as these games cover four Sony platforms. It's only so many ways to control Spidey at this point.

"Sunset Overdrive is the game we've always wanted to make!"

"Yo you wanna make SpiderMan?"

'Who gives a fuck bout energy sludge WEB SLINGING UP IN YA!!"

i present: the last few years at Insomniac

Just had to pop in to say still ridonkulously hyped up for this. That spidey fanart from last page is seeeeeeeeeriously legit. He looks so good. Everything in the trailer looks so solid. UHG... i get the shakes just thinking bout swinging around NY again.

Something like the slo-mo sniper mode in inFamous would be pretty sweet. If well placed shots were fundamental to the locomotion system, that would be pretty badass…

All that matters is the swinging. If that's not good (finally) then costume, combat, etc is moot.

At least for me.
