I'm so mad right now. This was such a good example of peaceful protest and the Dallas police department was doing a great job at being supportive. Now at least 3 people are dead and this incident will no doubt ruin any type of discussion about brutality for some time to come.

RIP officers. I may find the police institution corrupt and overall not serving in the best interest of the citizens, especially those that are not White, but I would fucking never wish this on anybody. These people were likely perfectly fine human beings just doing their jobs. Their poor families tonight.

I worked with a retired guy that worked on the Dallas police force for like 40 years. He actually still went and trained these guys sometimes in the summers for a month at a time, not sure if it was special swat or what. But damn. Hope none of these guys where his friends.

UPDATE:
#dallas
Three officers dead,
two are in surgery
three are in critical condition.
2 snipers - not in custody.

Jesus Christ. It'll be interesting to see how two people did so much damage. Cops usually take cover the moment shots start going off.

When I see these threads I am always reminded about how if you know the right people you can buy just about any kind of gun. Still real surprised that gun show loop hole is still around, that's how they get on the streets. Black market guns also get traded a lot, like hot potato. People say gun regulation and all the gun nuts hear is a ban.

Yeah it's crucial that we at least do background checks on everyone. Gonna wait until we hear more, but I'm wondering if the snipers could have been prevented from buying those guns if we had better gun reform

so

multiple shooters (snipers as in people with rifles in concealed positions?)
body armor
waiting at specific position (choke point or simply best position for area of view?)

Obviously planned, basically an ambush.

Fox News has most up to date info, but too bad their fucking commentators have to go all patriotic and not just report the news.

Also Fox just got something on camera, dude with body armor surrendered to cops or something?

this is messed

The arrest looks like a dude who played militant dress up for a protest more than anything.
Yeah, looks unrelated. He seemed peaceful when he was talking to officers, they didn't have him stuffed in a car or anything. Hope that gets sorted.

Best wishes and prayers for the officers in surgery.

Ah That could. Then hopefully that is the case and this person wasn't related to the shootings.

Hate to speculate, but people in the crowd were upset about the guy in the flak jacket getting arrested and were saying he didn't do anything. So he might have worn it as a fashion statement to the protest and the police snatched him up because they're on high alert right now.

They're showing the video again and he was literally standing with other people next to him. So probably just a precaution.

Snipers seem like the scariest kind of shooter. Not knowing where it's coming from. Jeez.

CNN reporting 2 snipers.

No way was this the actions of some angry protesters.

Somebody took advantage of this.

Definitely militants or separatists trying to spark some war like Manson did.

"Protester says, man in body armor and gas mask had been out in crowd for hours. Suddenly arrested. "Makes no sense""

Police might just be on high alert arresting anyone with gear on, but that does suck for the guy since it seems like the only shooters are snipers at range

10 officers shot. Rip to the dead. This is about to get really nasty nationwide no matter what the shooters intentions were. Pieces of shit ruining a peaceful protest.

Reiterating what other have said, when they say "snipers" they are not necessarily talking about the weapon used, simply the elevated position they were in.

We really, really didn't need this.
