Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Wild Charizard somehow mixed in with pidgeys and other garbage around my house. Trying to catch him at lvl13 and circle was full red on great ball lol. Threw berry but no luck.

do the rustling leaves even mean anything?
I found tons if not all pokemon without them and I noticed several times there is no pokemon around one of them

about the footprints: do people actually use them? do you walk into one direction if they don't decrease you go back and try another of 8 directions? does this really make sense? especially since they disappear after a few minutes

if you place a lure does it only attract pokemon from the near list?

Thanks! It's very reasonably priced, but no Prime ;_;

If you ave easy access to Pokeballs then throw away your Pokeballs. I've never had more than like 30 on me at a time.

Build up some eggs to almost hatched and candy for evolution, pop the Lucky, hatch eggs, evolve a zillion pokeymans, profit in XP rain

Unless you're taking on a lot of gyms and losing Pokemon in the process, Revives seem to be an okay item to throw away.

Thanks dudes! Trashballs and trashrevives it is.

Morning, fine. Night, fine. Noon, blah.

I'm already bored of trying to own gyms. What's the point when anyone with 6 weedles can just sit outside it with stacks of potions and revives and brute force your level down to 1 and win it easily 6v1 as soon as you leave the area

Needs a major rehaul.
group up with teammates to defend, fortify it. its my favorite part

A rehaul to make it harder to take over gyms?

Yeah. Whats the incentive to own one if you're gonna lose it no matter how strong your pokemon is just because the attacker can keep going and whittle down the level to 1 and kill you with 6 pokemon as soon as you leave? It's only worth doing it for the coin then who cares for 21 hours

That's why gyms must be strentghened and expanded by the owner team so you can put more Pokemons in it so the gym won't be took over easely. Also teams should come defend their gyms if they've been conquered.

That game appeal rely a lot on community since it's an mmo.

I have no chance of beating a nearby gym. Can I just send one pokemon at a time to win the first battle, faint on the next, and collect exp, revive, and repeat?

That's a really, really fast update cadence for any game, let alone something as unusual as this. Very curious to see where it goes. I like the way they are talking about it though.

No to the last question, check out the FAQ in the OP for the rest!

Been postponing using my lure.

How do lures work? Will it just increase the encounter rate of the pokemon already nearby or does it increase the chance of some new, more rare pokemon showing up?

Team Rocket ready! (finally caught my Koffing this morning)

Imo you shouldn't have to camp out at a gym to prevent this BS. I'd prefer it if they put a cooldown on how many times 1 person can fight. Make it once per hour or something. 1 person should not be able to brute force a fortified gym that took a team of people to build up, it just feels wrong to me.

IGN literaly took the info (and even said it) from Game Informer interview, kinda cheap move they made: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...itter.com&utm_campaign=buffer&PostPageIndex=1

By the way I posted it this morning on gaf XD

Putting a cooldown on the only pvp mode of the game is wrong too.

For me, it's because you get a ton of exp for each win (550 exp for beating a gym with 5 opposing pokemon), and 10 gold+ 500 stardust per gym held, once per day. I don't see the need to try and hold one at all, it's definitely more biased towards having the gym constantly change teams. If they gave some reward for holding a gym for a given amount of time, then I'd agree that they definitely need to change the gym to be more balanced towards the defender, but currently there no loss of reward when you lose a gym and retake it.

So... can anyone use Revives?

Three times now I'm been kicked out of Gyms, and three times I can't use a revive. Just potions.

Are you fighting friendly gyms? You don't need to revive from those. If not, well I've seen revives bug a few times and I needed to spam press for it to apply eventually.

I have a very similar plan tonight although I also have a couple eggs to hatch I want the Lucky Egg running for.

Hopefully, I can basically bypass Level 11 altogether and start getting that Great Ball goodness.

Good point, might try to get my eggs really close to hatching before I do.

They need to fix catching Pokemon... When it takes 3 balls to catch a caterpie despite having the green circle be near max is bullshit.

You're more likely to catch a pokemon with a smaller circle. Also, the level is what determines how difficult a pokemon is to catch, not really the rarity of said pokemon. I've run in to Zubats that were harder to catch than Eevees or a Psyduck because of the level difference.

Hey, have you used one of these! I'm really interested in how practical/safe they are. And if you can recommend a brand in particular? Trying to put together a post for Pokemon trainers who bike a lot like I do.

I have been wary of them for safety reasons. But I've seen quite a few people biking with their phone in one hand and it HAS to be safer than that, lol

In regards to those phone holders for bikes I remember someone saying they have a magnetic one that's easy to snap the phone off for when you find a pokemon or need to handle the phone. You might want to look into those as well.

Was on my morning walk today and a Blastoise shows up on the radar. I go find it and there's this dude just smiling away at the end of a cul-de-sac. I assume this is where he's located. Walk up and say "Blastoise?" He says "Yep!!"
Caught it first try with a Razz Berry and pokeball. Only 31 cp though :( His was 550.

What I don't understand, though, is that I get the "Nice!" message when the circle is just smaller than completely full.

About the circle thing, I think it only applies if you hit the ball inside the circle, and the smaller it is the better chance it gives you? It goes from "Nice" to "Great" to "Excellent" depending on its size when you hit the bullseye. The circle does nothing at all if you hit the pokemon on the head or arm or w/e

No idea if it just gives you more xp AND has a result on the catch itself though

Any suggestions on a good, cheap portable power supply? This game is demolishing my already shitty 2nd gen Moto X battery.

Look on amazon, a 10kmAh battery pack goes pretty cheap, you can get around 3 charges from one. Not sure if your phone has any special charging cable though, you'd need a USB to whatever you use.

You get a bonus ("Nice!", "Great!", or "Excellent!") if you land the ball within the colored circle. The smaller the circle is, the more bonus points you get. You probably just see the "Nice!" when the circle is almost full because it's the easiest time to get the pokeball inside the colored circle.

I am not completely sure either. I have had some experiences where it seems to be false, but I wrote those off to RNG/hindsight bias. All of the guides from the beta that I saw said that the circle affect the catch rate, so I assumed that carried over to the full game.

Don't frown. His blastoise is trash too.

Do you not get a good GPS lock at your job? That should work unless it's a REALLY short distance. People have reported seeing (small) progress just from GPS drift while sitting still with the app open for an hour or so.

It's a fairly small store. I only gather steps once I hit the parking lot, sadly.

So... can anyone use Revives?

Three times now I'm been kicked out of Gyms, and three times I can't use a revive. Just potions.

If a Pokemon you put in a gym is kicked out by a rival team, it will have 1 HP. You have to use Potions to heal it.

If a Pokemon you use to train a friendly gym is "knocked out", it will have 1 HP. You have to use Potions to heal it.

If a Pokemon you use to challenge a rival gym is knocked out, it will have 0 HP. You have to use a Revive and then Potions to heal it.

Nope, all being taken over from rivals when I had someone places there. Happened every time now

Which button did you spam press?

Oh. That... stinks! What the hell!

I see, In my case I'd hit revive and have to spam click the pokemon I want to revive as nothing would happen for ages. Probably the servers acting up as it stopped doing that after a while :/

Edit: Ah problem solved

Ah, gotcha. I had no clue about that. Thanks.

NICE catch!

I love the little impromptu groups and subgroups that form too. When people are all chilling at a stop and something is nearby and a couple people go off together to hunt it, but other people have already it. Or a team forms to walk over to a nearby gym and take a shot at it and everybody wishes them luck/curses their Team. Really great stuff.

Yes, but I'm a little confused. Are you using the APK and not seeing anything, or not playing?

Not playing, waiting for them to officially release it here. Yeah, I could download the APK, but if they haven't released it here yet I guess it's for a reason. And there was talk of them possibly banning people for circumventing the region lock, but maybe that was BS?
