Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

So I had a co-worker who was playing Pokemon Go while on the job and the next day he got fired. I was off for a day and came in last night and my other co-worker asked me if I had watched the news. I told him no and then he showed me a video of the guy who got fired being on the local news channel with an interview! I couldn't stop laughing...but the broadcast was about how Pokemon Go is making downtown a hotspot, instead of him getting fired over playing the game.

Isn't that a power abuse ? Being fired with no warning ?

Well, my typical one hour cardio session at the gym got replaced with a three hour walk around the park yesterday. Place was LIT.

I have more friends going back today but I wanna play other games tonight.

Still though, it was fun meeting people and running into coworkers that I didn't expect to see playing.

Caught this on my morning PokeWalk. How lucky am I?

Also caught Meowth

I was so excited when I caught a pikachu.

Funny thing, I was inside my house just checking the game out, chillin. But as soon as I saw Pikachu on my radar, I threw some clothes on and ran outside lol. Started walking around and found it a few seconds later. Caught it using only 3 pokeballs.

Israeli President just posted this on Facebook:

(Says "Someone please call security")

Note: It isn't even out officially here.

30 minutes of Lure + Incense + Lucky Egg

Rattata-Pidgey-Bellsprout-Evee

......only good thing was that i went from lvl 9 to almost 12 evolving the pokemon "fodder" i had :/

I still don't have access to those balls

Right. I think they come at level 10 or 12 and then 20 respectively? I think at a certain point they want you to tough it out when capturing some pokemon

which level do you start to get ultra and great balls? can you buy those or just get them from pokestops?

After they are unlocked you can get those balls at pokestops. You can't buy them. Just pokeballs are bought.

Is the update on Android OK to download? Any problems with it?

Using my google account. No issues after the update for me.

Here's a nice Pokémon story. The deputy was
me

Niantic on damage control, letting toddlers out of their homes and placing a rare Pokemon near it so someone playing the game will find it.

How does the xl and xs weight come into play?
Nothing at the moment, but it's hilarious sitting around at a Pokestop listening to all the ridiculous things people will try to convince you about this game. Just nod and say, "yeah, yeah, sure..."

Some level 19 who should know better telling me how disappointed he was that his Eevee was an XL, but when he evolved it into a Flareon, it became an XS.

Maybe it'll have its purpose eventually, but I'd like to think it's just something Niantic included for those who like to spread rumors like the Eeveeolutions being pre-determined by their secondary attack, Pokemon size determining CP cap, etc...

Is there any point in powering up your pokemon? Seems you will always catch stronger ones and then the upgrades are a waste on the weaker ones.

There was a lure at a Pokestop near the Cathedral this morning but I couldn't get the reception to use it =P

I'm about to speak to O2 about the 4G situation. I asked in the shop today and they suggested complaining to customer service because they hate the situation as well. The more people who call out their "no signal issues" bull, the better.

I've seen lots of lures being used up near the top Wetherspoons and the clock tower, which is wonderful. Managed to grab this gym outside the Marlowe theatre at lunch thanks to their free Wi-Fi covering a nice bit of ground (also grabbed a Poliwag there too):

Good luck talking to O2, people have been going on at them about it for years! The tweets about it go back forever.

Only thing to spend Stardust on, and eventually you'll just get to the point where you'll have your selection of really strong Pokemon who you power-up frequently enough to the point where they'll only be behind a couple hundred or so CP every time you level.

So far for me (lvl. 17) I've found that my pokemon are not worth leveling up. Just collect stardust, don't power up pokemon unless you have an extremely powerful rare pokemon that you're not likely to find again.

Just downloaded it.. seems to run fine.

Thanks guys.

Well that was shitty. So I found a Pidgeot while walking around and I was trying to catch it. It was 377 CP. I had about 100 pokeballs and I ran through all of them. Most of them never reached it since it was so far away. Any tips about doing this? Should I have curved all my shots?

Also, is it really worth it to use Razz Berries? They only work for your next throw, not the whole fight.

Yeah, after wasting a bit of stardust, this seems to be the best path. I'll start leveling once I have a rare one I want to keep.

The throw mechanic can be really annoying at long ranges. Don't try to curve the ball, just send it as hard and straight as you can.

Razz berries are definitely worth using IMO, use them on a pokemon that you're unsure if you can catch, and it does help your chances.

You were playing with AR off, right?

You just have to fling them further. Dunno what else to tell you. Curved throws don't travel any further than regular throws.

Yeah, you'll eventually have an over-abundance of razzberries. Use them whenever the Pokemon is anything but green. And they work for your next catch, not your next throw. If you miss, it doesn't use it. If you land it and the Pokemon escapes or is caught, that's when it uses it.

Does lucky egg give you double xp on everything? Even evolutions?
How many candies can you hold for each evo line? 99?
Yes, lucky egg gives you double xp for everything.

Pretty sure there's no cap on candies you can hold, considering something like Gyarados requires 400.
