Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Pidgey, Zubat and Weedle can fuck off

I just ignore them now

don't do that
the most important thing in this game is to level as fast as possible because at higher player levels you catch better pokemons
don't waste stardust until you are high level

and pidgey and weedle are fantastic for leveling, their evolves give tons of xp
save them, then use a lucky egg to double xp and evolve them

they are literally the most valuable pokemon to catch up until level 20ish

rare pokemons at early levels are just trash

Yeah, Pidgey, Weedle and Caterpie are like the Big Three of levelling.

Zubat, though, can fuck right off.

It's a really annoying mechanic though. I'm glad the game director (or something like that) said that one of the things they want to do is explain the mechanics better. I still am not 100% convinced that throwing when the inner circle is smallest is the best way to catch something. Also, I'm still confused about what causes a "nice" or "great" or "excellent" throw. Excellent gets you 100 extra xp per catch, so I would totally be trying to do it if I knew how.

I have no clue if this is actually correct, but I'm convinced that you have to physically throw the ball inside the circle to get the bonus. So as the circle gets smaller it's harder to hit, but you get a bigger bonus. I'm pretty sure I've gotten an "excellent" when my ball went straight into a tiny circle.

omg Using my first Lure Module in a populated area is a pretty amazing feeling. You just start to see the trainers start flowing in.

I was on my way to work this morning and the DJs on the radio were talking with a woman organizing a Pokemon Go pub crawl this weekend that has 660 participants signed up so far. They asked her why Pokemon Go was so popular and she said it was because this was the first Pokemon game in 20 years.

LOL Rekt

Technically, this works for hitting the Pokemon. However, I am high enough level that most of mine are orange, and you really need to hit the small circle to actually get the capture. So, good for low level players, not really going to work for high level players.

actually, because they're so close, it hits the centre every time. I've tested it and I get 90% Greats. I wouldn't use it on anything rare, because you don't want to risk the 'mon fleeing before you use the razz berry, but it's incredible for picking off zubats and whatnot.

You definitely should have seen a Pokemon by now. In location settings, set the mode to "High accuracy". Turn location on and off and check you actually have GPS working (in Maps or something). PokeStops look like floating blue cubes and then turn into a Pokeball type symbol when you're close enough to activate them.

My gps is on high accuracy mode already, and Google Maps knows my location just fine... the app does too. It always shows me in the correct location. It just always says "Failed to detect location" at the top and the world is empty.

Anyone else have this problem on Android?

Yeah it hits the center, but the circle is still pretty large. What level are you? Level 17 here, and in a few minutes of testing, most of the mons are breaking out of the ball using this method.

Caught my first pikachu today. There's a park with about 4 or 5 stops plus a couple gyms along the walkway and my girlfriend and I are thinking about taking regular walks there to hatch our eggs and stock up on pokeballs. Game is a great exercise motivator.

Ha, maybe not a bad tactic if you want to try to make a family member go out.

Hey guys! Just downloaded the game for my android and now I'm paranoid I'm gonna get my device banned (in canada). Do you guys think I'm screwed here even if I delete it? Also anyone know where the apk installs to or downloads to so I can get rid of it completely just in case ?

nothing is working. Ah well. Until I stop catching Geodudes by the beach in Florida, I'm not really interested

You're gonna catch plenty of Geodudes by the beaches in Florida because it's 80% craggy cliffs slowly being encroached upon by global warming caused rising tides!

I need a good counter to Hypno, he's the most common Gym-pokeman around here. Dark or Ghost i guess but Haunter is Ghost/Poison so he takes double damage from Psychic, and I have no Pokemons that have a Dark move but aren't Poison or something else that Psychic destroys :(

Fucking hell. That was an experience. So I'm walking back from the gym and I see that on my way there's a pokespot with a lure. I figured that I'd chill there and see what I get. Nothing terribly exciting. Eventually I see a Porygon on my nearby list. I drop everything and go looking for it. I get it down to one step but when I think I found it it went to two steps. I stop and see a girl was right behind me. She asks if I was looking for the Porygon and we team up to try to find it. Another guy joins us. We find it, and both of them catch it, but I get stopped by the server. I restart the app and I never connect. We start chatting and we eventually talk about what team we're on. I'm Valor, and both of them are Instinct. I joke that everyone hates Instinct, but then the girl says that she thought everyone hated Valor. I say why and they say that since I'm on Valor I wouldn't know. I get flustered and decide to leave. As I'm leaving, I restart my phone and open the app I again. I'm connected! I check my nearby list and the Porygon is still there too!

I run back to where my group was and find it again. This time I go to the encounter screen. I use a razz berry and throw a good catch and....it fails and it runs away immediately. No happy ending here. Was pretty fun all in all though, minus me never getting that Porygon.

Maybe try catching some bugs.

Are Magnemite and Magneton Electric/Steel, or are they just electric like they were in gen 1 before the introduction of steel type? Steel resists psychic. Alternatively, my starter Pokemon knows Water Pulse which wasn't in gen 1, so hopefully some bug-type pokemon have actually good bug type moves they introduced later like X-scissor and Megahorn.

Is Lapras in this gen of Pokemon and has anyone caught one yet?
Yes and yes.

20. On the slow, slow grind to 21. I find this works pretty well for all the 'mons I don't especially care about.

I'm in the same situation in my town, high level hypnos everywhere and drowzees for easy leveing up.

Thinking of trying paras, but haven't found enough to raise them anywhere close to the Hypnos around here.

I had a small walk out in hopes the Mystic kids would be tucked in their beds.

Managed to take over my closest gym and place a decent Hypno (my gym 'harvest' unlocks in seven or so hours so I will claim the PokeCoins come morning hopefully):

More interestingly I gave the paw/proximity tracker a chance for the first time and I managed to hunt down and catch myself a first Gloom:

Goty.

I had the same thing until I turned off 'Allow mock locations' in the developer settings, if you have those accessible. Tap build/version number or whatever in Settings a bunch if not, then try that.

Lots of Raticate have Bite, which is a reasonably high power Dark fast move. Given how common Rattata is, they're very easy to acquire - just catch 7 Rattata for 21 Candies, transfer at least 4 more for 25, and evolve the strongest. Repeat until you get one with Bite, which is like a one in three chance.

Drove down to my local Gym to take it back from those Instinct losers. Planted my 530 Nidoqueen "Killer Queen" there to hold it down until I can level it up some more.

I know there are other Mystics in my area because last time I took the gym more people came to defend it so hopefully they come back

Standing in line at KFC and caught this.

Then the bloke next to me asks what team....looked disgusted when i said yellow. :D

Game is everywhere, you can tell they're playing by the poke-2-step as they chase those footsteps!
