Z2 Go vs Z1 Extreme Benchmarks (Legion Go S)

Same reason why everyone will tell you to go buy the Z2E when it's barely 5 / 6 fps more than Z1 extreme at 25w / 30w ( Also, what is the obsession with 32 gig of ram on a full HD device ? )
The Z2E is good for low wattage. it will give you at 15W much more performance than Z1E ( more efficient ). But when it goes to 25W? Yeah, not worth the upgrade.
Also, none of these use the FSR AI / FSR4. if you already have Z1E or Z2 and happy with the performance, don't upgrade to Z2E and wait next gen chip ( I think 2027 ? ) or maybe a refresh in 2026 where you can actually use FSR4 AI upscaler.

, I traded with the guy. I couldn't resist to be honest. The screen was perfect without any scratches or dead pixels ( or even light bleed ), and the whole device didn't have any scratch on it ( barely used ).already installed Steam Big Picture and configured the device. playing Crash Bandicoot trilogy max settings, capcom fighting collection 2 is a joy to play on the device.
one thing I did notice, the screen is much sharper and crisper than switch 2 screen. when they are not head to head, you kinda wont think about it. But side by side ? night and day difference.
I did notice the screen is a bit smaller though, which is one of the reasons why it's crisper. but I need to adjust to its size because I was ok with the switch 2 screen size. This feels a bit small.
BUT.. with that being said. to actually get Rog Ally X for the price of Switch 2 used is honestly kinda worth it. ( assuming a barely used switch 2 is valued at 400$ US, makes the Rog Ally X at that price a steal. Considering the Xbox Rog Ally X wont be below 800$ plus tax, I would say this is a good value for Rog ally X and should hold me fine till next gen AMD chip that has actually FSR 4 AI upscaler.

Nothing wrong with that. Really depends on what your needs are. Emulation and indies are all I'm playing on handhelds. I leave the big stuff for my PC.

It's crazy how demanding Rogue Trader is. Must be because of Unity. Can't even get 60fps at 1080p with this Z1 Extreme.

Can't wait till UDNA (RDNA5) and Zen 6 handhelds. Shame there's no RDNA4 handheld or laptops.Legion Go S Z2 Go version is on sale at Best Buy for $499. I got an open box for $475, like new. The Z2 Go came with Windows but I installed Steam OS
Here are the benchmarks using the built in benchmarks for Black Myth Wukong, Cyberpunk 2077 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Run them all with the same settings, varying only the TDP (Simple Decky TDP)
Considering I paid $775 for the Z1 Extreme, I'm pretty sure I'm returning it and keeping the Z2 Go. Just can't justify $300 more for 4-9fps

Yeah it doesn't seem like that big of an upgrade to justify the cost, especially when you can get really good deals on Z1E handhelds. The Ally X also comes with a pretty hefty battery as well so you can squeeze more gaming when away from home.
I mean if yeah, if you have a big library of Steam games or even GOG or EGS it just makes sense. But even if coming in fresh to PC, there's always decent deals and offers around. Whether from key websites, Humble bundles or even 'free' games from Prime Gaming. But I see you've already made up your mind and I'd say that's definitely a solid choice. Enjoy man. And true $80 games are a complete turn off. $100 CAD is just insane.

Z2E is about 20-25% faster at 25w vs the Z1E. Not major, but it could be the difference between 25fps and 30fps.
In reality the actual best APU is the Intel 258v, but the drivers can hold it back. If Intel massively improved the Linux driver stack I might consider it. The MSI Claw 8 AI+ with Bazzite & good drivers would be extremely impressive.

VRR is more important imo, glad it has it I don't think the Lenovo legion 1 had it.

Thanks, I am enjoying it to be honest. i kinda find joy when I get something for good deal too . makes me value it more for some reason lol.
However. I am going to miss the Switch 2. I am not going to sell my games. I will keep them till I get my Switch 2 Oled when it releases.
10 to 15%, I think Amd said up to 20% but I m going to guess avrg is 15

I didn't notice any stuttering or frame drops. Of course, I'm only looking at these games and only the built in benchmark tools. Not a thorough analysis.
