XBL: Games with Gold

Free Joy Ride Turbo, a racing game similar to Mario Kart, for the Xbox One (and 360) by going to this link:

Is it actually similar to Mario Kart, or did they mean to say "a racing game similar to Mario Kart other than the fun, charm, and polish"?

Worked fine for me, and I'm from New Zealand! :D Cheers.

Never knew about that 10minutemail thing either, cool! What an age we live in lol.

10minmail has been around for a long ass time (at least 10 years that I'm aware of). There's a lot more sites similar too, google "(temporary/disposable) email" and you'll find loads. Though 10minmail is my favourite as they change domains every so often to get around sites that block it.

It always comes in handy when you want to sign up for stuff like this :) Of course I don't recommend using it for personal or important stuff for obvious reasons. Always use a real email for any important stuff.

Anyone have problems claiming the free games on Xbox.com? It keeps prompting me to sign up for Gold... except I'm prepaid until 2017...

Tumblestone looks awful, but maybe it'll prove me wrong if I ever feel like playing that type of game.

Costume Quest 2 is decent so far. Not as good as the first one, but I'm not too far in.

EDIT: I rented Tron when it came out. It wasn't anything to write home about, but I didn't hate it. I didn't expect a ton from it, though, and was more lenient back then.

Was wondering when people were gonna discuss the games lol.

Tumblestone wasn't bad.. but at the end of the day it's still a match 3 game. Some of the levels had some serious difficulty spikes too. Not too friendly with achievements either.

It's not the worst match 3 game ever made, if you like those kind of games you'll probably get some hours out of it.

So.. Is it me or is the platforming in Tron atrocious?
Also Saints Row 4 just got awesome.

I think a zoomed out camera would have made it a bit more tolerable. They had some good ideas with the parkour movement, but it did get frustrating at times. Either way, the game is super easy and I finished it in just a few hours. Will not go back to get extra achievements though. Just not worth the frustration. :)

Say its atrocious is a bit far. The single player part is bland. A few missions pass the half way point are pretty good. The part that was surprisingly good was the multiplayer light cycles. Doubt it holds up though.

The Crew 3M downloads while GWG.

Not surprising it's that low honestly, April 2015 had an average of 1.7M downloads per game and that's including early months, indies, 360 games and 360 games only being available 2 weeks as opposed to a month.

Just don't get why people would have Gold but not get the GWG's even if they don't intend to play them.. you are paying for them, makes no sense to not take everything going.

People are fucking strange.

Link for that?

But yeah, one of my friends just won't attempt to download GWG because they don't interest him. Some people don't care to get games that they know they won't play for months and months. Was able to convince him to get XCOM with GWG though, so that was great.

How exactly is it strange?

Why on earth would I waste my time downloading a game I have absolutely zero interest in?

Why throttle my garbage Australian internet speed and take up space on my external HDD for a game I know I'll never play?

Link doesn't load for me on desktop but it did on mobile, so if it doesn't load try that.

And yep, I have a friend who refuses to get anything digital too. He didn't get Rocket League until a few weeks ago when it came out physically and I begged him to download SO when it was free and he never did. Dunno man some people are weird.

Why not "purchase" it just incase you ever want to try it it's sitting in your ready to install ? You don't have to actually download it. You're already paying for them, why not make use of it?

Sorry, but you're the strange one if you can't wrap your head around that. I'm not saying you have to share their view (I download games I have no intention of playing), but the fact that some people don't want to spend time/data/harddrive space whatever downloading a game that they know they will never play isn't some alien concept that's impossible to comprehend.

You don't have to download it now... you simply stop the download so that it shows up in your "ready to install" que forever.. So, in case you ever change your mind you can download it then, for free, long after the GWG month has finished.... A pretty good deal if you ask me.

If you know that you'll never play it, then there is literally ZERO reason to do so other than being obsessive compulsive, which not all people are. It's not that difficult to acknowledge.

Well I know the games I like so I know whether there is any point in purchasing it or downloading it.

But if I know I will never play it I don't have to do anything. A good deal yes, but never every game appeals to every one.

I'm not sure what's so hard to understand.

So you've never played a game that's surprised you? Ever?

Idk, to me it's like going to a restaurant and getting a meal which includes a side, but when you order you tell them you don't want any.. you just take it anyways, even if you're gonna leave it.

I always purchase them and sometimes even download them, but with the few time I have it's rare I can actually start them. Some of them actually surprised me on 360, even games I didn't expect I would enjoy like me vs atv

all of this and.. I don't get to keep the games like I do on 360 unless I keep the gold sub active.

Honestly, nope. I have a pretty limited scope in games that I enjoy which helps me in deciding which games appeal to me and which games don't.

Umm, well if a meal I ordered had a char-grilled eggplant and rocket salad I would most definitely be telling them to hold the salad as I know for a fact I won't eat it. Having said that, I probably wouldn't order it in the first place....just like I wouldn't purchase or download a game I have no interest in.

I do it anyway. I don't like forza, but when I had my grandad stay over for a weekend I downloaded forza 5 that I got free with my console and let him play it. He was absolutely astounded with the graphics, accuracy of tracks and vehicles and the gameplay (I gave him assisted braking speed but nothing else). It was the happiest I've seen him when looking at video games since he showed me doom 3 on release.

It's nice to have them if something weird pops up. And it takes me around 1 minute every month to press purchase on each item.

At the end of the day....each to their own is the simplest way to sum it up but calling people "fucking strange" for not doing it is a bit of a stretch.

No, sorry. I have zero intention of playing Tron: Evolution or The Banner Saga 2. I get that some people may genuinely like them, and I understand that a game can come along and surprise you, but there is not a chance I'm going to waste my drive space on them. I'm not going to waste the time just setting them so that I can play them "just in case". Why? Because I will not now and will not ever play them. How do I know? Because I pay attention to things like reviews and LPs. Neither appeals to me.

My backlog is enormous. I already have much better games to focus my limited time and energy on. Games I'm not only interested in, but have plans to make time to play. There are already several games I've gotten from GwG that I regret downloading - knowing right now that I will not ever play them.

Hooray, I at least have them for the future. But so what? I don't collect digital games.

This is one of the silliest things I've seen people here harping on about.

The restaurant brings that to you; you don't have to go out of your way to get it. And don't bother saying "it doesn't take much effort to download a game", as *any* amount of effort to download something they don't want is a perfectly rational reason to not bother.

A better example would be free samples at a supermarket. Do you stop for every single one you see? Even if you do, most people don't.

To be fair I'm not paying for the free samples, they're completely free :p If I was paying for it? sure, I'd be trying/taking everything.

If I'm paying for something I want to get the most out of it, for example if I paid to go into a zoo, even if I don't particularly like Monkeys, I'm gonna go and see them anyway. I might not stay long, but I'm gonna check it out.

Saying that, I do wonder if The Crew is lower #'s than usual for AAA's because of the overwhelming amount of racers on the program recently (F1, Dirt3, Dirt Showdown, Grid2, The Crew).

They're paying for the chance of getting games they care about, the ability to play online, Netflix, etc. Not everybody is paying so they can try every game they get given.

Another example would be paying for a TV cable service that comes with shitloads of channels. Are you going to make sure you watch every single one at least once? Again, even if you would, most people certainly wouldn't. Hell, what about every single show on each channel? Where do you draw the line? It has to be drawn somewhere, and some people draw it in a different place to you.

Though I will acknowledge that "It's part of what I'm paying for so it would be a waste not to watch it" is a good excuse for watching shitloads of porn.

I'm sure I've flicked through all the channels at one point in time... But you make a good point anyways.

Edit: Though that's not a fair comparison because you took the channels anyway, you didn't say "I won't watch channel X, so don't give me that, just the rest but I'll pay the same" which is basically what you'd be doing with GWG. But it's hard to find an accurate comparison with how GwG works anyway

Bullshit, unless you played on easy, skipped every cutscene and sprinted past all the encounters.

its not bullshit, i played on medium, didn't skipped any cutscene, but i didn't stop to even breath, basically just sprint and shoot everything on sight, the game is sure short

Here's a noob question (or rather three ;)) - can't you just add the game to your library like on the PS4? You have to at least start and pause the download to ensure that you won't miss out? And what if in the future you'll decide to delete the game from your hdd?

Actually, the difference in the comparison only strengthens my argument. You don't have to go out of your way to get the channels you have no intention of watching (you get them anyway), whereas you do in order to get games you have no intention of playing. So there's even less of a reason to bother with games you don't want than there is for channels.

The thing is once you "buy" it for free it doesn´t matter if you do this on the console or via store.xbox.com. Xbox will automatically start the download (which is actually a good and convenient thing).

If you don´t want to game right now, then you have to cancel the download on the console.

You own the game then and it sits in your "ready to install" section and you can start the download anytime you want.

Thanks for clarifying that. I just got my Xbox this week and I was curious before I purchased the membership (I'm not really in a hurry to do that, because I'll start catching up with offline games :)).
