Wikileaks posts thousands of hacked DNC emails

As someone in the LGBT spectrum, I didn't take it as a joke myself. I'm not going to 'rant' up and down about this but that's ridiculous language. " a good gay", as opposed to what?

It's like when black people joke amongst themselves that someone is "one of the good ones".

I just wish they'd remain impartial until a nominee is chosen- you know like following their own rules. Sanders was a good candidate -a little extreme maybe- but most of his policies were great. Anyway, defeating Trump now should be the main priority. Let's hope people don't get distracted too much by this.

Goddamn Bernie, forcing Hillary to appeal to young liberals instead of pivoting back to the center. What an asshole.

It is kinda a big deal, actually.

She has to waste time doing that instead of trying to appeal to the independents.

But he's had no affect on this campaign at all. To suggest otherwise would just be chicken-littiling it, right?

Just saw this one. Not surprised since all candidates seem to do it. Wonder how many shills (Hillary or otherwise) are lurking about?

One thing I noticed about this is that it's from late April--when Bernie had basically lost already--and treats Clinton as the presumptive nominee.

The e-mail chains about the campaign's incompetence and the "no shit" e-mail chain about religion baiting that they didn't do proving they were against Sanders "all along" are from May, well after this message where they view Sanders as actively hurting the eventual Dem nominee.

Is there damning stuff from actually early on, like before he was mathematically not a real contender?

How about not posting thousands of illegally obtained emails that contain sensitive personal info?

I mean the goal of the site is too release illegally obtained documents, hence why it's called wikileaks.

I do think it's scummy, and I don't like the sites changes to be pro-russia, but I like the place existing for people like Snowden and such who can whistleblow events. You kind of take the good with the bad I guess. It sucks for those people though, but if they are sending credit card details and SSN #'s through emails, I doubt wikileaks is the only place where this stuff is readily available

So you will stop mocking the narrative that the DNC was working against Bernie the entire time? You know, what Sanders supporters have been complaining about all along?

Though I already do see some people try to argue why it was okay for them to have done so.

Wait me personally? I'm a Bernie supporter.

Wha...?

This could fucking potentially ruin countless lives. This isn't some minor slip- People's address, name, and SS# are plastered all over the fucking internet now.

I still don't see the joke here. It's insulting and divisive. That's the only way I can see it.

Ok...but there really is no harm in one gay man saying to a friend "good gay." It is such a tongue-in-cheek phrase.

i don't like the place existing for people like snowden, because people like snowden get protected by the putin regime so they can throw bombs from a place where they never have to answer to anything so long as they don't talk shit about russia

also, agreed. you kinda take the good with the identity theft.

I still don't see the joke there.

Kathy Griffin is a comedienne with a huge gay following.

The person they are talking about is obviously a gay person.

He's talking, in jest, that if the person is a good gay (ie. likes things that gay men might stereotypically like), then they'd appreciate the picture with Kathy Griffin. It's obviously ironic and not a real statement on the meaning how gayness manifests itself into the world. You're allowed to have jokes like this within your community playing with your own stereotypes.

It require context, probably a relationship between these two people, and an understanding of their own humor. It's not haha funny, but it's not supposed to be, and I understand what this person is going for. If you don't, I'm sorry, but this is also maybe not a joke for you.

Yea it is extremely scummy especially if you do not wipe it down.

Also Hillary PM me to get my address to mail me my check.

Hard to tell with 20,000 some emails out there. I'm sure we'll be hearing something in the next few days. Already heard about a Politico writer who gave his story about Clinton to her camp before it was published. Taking everything with a grain of salt at this point.

and the question that should be asked is why people are sending their SSN# through email, and also, peoples names and address are really not that big of a deal considering it's probably already plastered all over the internet already

Im not defending wikileaks for doing this, but you take the good with the bad, and I doubt this will "ruin lives." This will be a major inconvenience for a lot of people, but there are steps involved for rectifying it.

....sell your house and change your name?

It most definitely isn't if they cannot get their head around this.

I can take things as a joke just fine. Language like that doesn't come across as a joke to me, regardless of how it's said or who it comes from.

You're effectively eavesdropping on a private conversation of a gay person using slightly sarcastic humor. This is such a non-issue and I feel like you're reaching here, Ekai.

They did this WAY too early to have an impact since there's nothing particularly damning in here. The RNConvention got Putin shook and he shot his load early.

Man, why don't you read up on identity theft and tell me that it's not a big deal.

That's basically all the information you need. So no, the 'good' does not outweigh the damage this will do to innocent people.

Except Snowden didn't publish through WikiLeaks, but through actual journalists.

I'm all for whistleblowing and more transparency, but WikiLeaks is shady as hell.

Yeah, if nothing else comes out of these emails - they certainly solidify that the DNC was actively working against one of their own candidates

Yeah, it was pretty shameless for the DNC to out Bernie as an atheist to the public and also allow his perfectly organized campaign to fall short on basic protocols and deadlines without providing any kind of assistance whatsoever. And all the behest of Hillary's campaign and DWS! Direct orders from them to do these things! Disgraceful behavior, really.

It's self-deprecating humor about your own identity and stereotypes.

I can understand it working in that context just fine. I just don't like the phrase. We don't need to drag this out further when there's other matters related to the topic.

Someone asked for opinions and I gave mine. I don't really tend to like 'jokes' like that, especially since they tend to be expressed by people with malicious agendas. I'm not hounding the person who wrote the e-mail. Obviously they aren't writing in a malicious manner. I just don't care for language like that. Sorry?

This.

I feel this is terrible for people who got personal information leaked, but if they(russians i guess) were gonna mess some stuff up they should have released this AFTER the Democratic national convention. Putin is definitely shook.

You are clueless if you think having names, addresses, and SSNs spread over the internet is no big deal for the victims.

Bonus points: Griffin has routinely used the term "good gay" for a good period of time in her stand up.

It's pretty obvious at this point that Putin is fueling the alt-right movement in America and by extension the Trump campaign because he knows it will actively damage the United States to a point where he will feel free to be more bold in his territorial conquests and bullying of Europe and the Middle East. It wouldn't surprise me if he and Trump were cohorts.

Worst case scenario: This doesn't have much impact.

Best case scenario: With it having been released so close to articles about Trump's ties to Putin, this starts a narrative and has blowback on the Republicans.

This is the tamest of all the leaks, from what I've searched for I've found nothing really inflamatory whatsoever.

My favorite is the Email calling to Vet a former convict as a DNC donor, said convict was found guilty of wire fraud, and insurance fraud where he electrocuted 20 horses he owned to collect insurance money.

The response to the 15 page plea to have him be a donor was simply

"Sorry man. He fails for everything"

They plea again.

"Sorry man, he fails"

plead again

"Fail"

It wouldn't surprise me either. Thankfully there doesn't seem to be much of anything damaging in it found so far. Outside of them being upset that they have to work on appealing to liberal voters anyway.

Okay, this one is kind of funny. Talking about having to send interns to make a protest look more populated.

That was taken before the “protest” started when I was talking to Aaron. From: Miranda, Luis Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2016 9:42 AM To: Helmstetter, TJ; Regional Press Subject: RE: Tv coverage of protest great Yes, but going forward, when our allies screw up and don't deliver bodies in time, we either send all our interns out there or we stay away from it.. we don't want to own a bad picture:

Why on earth would Putin be shook at this point?

He's got the entire rest of the summer to see where trends start falling before he even needs to start thinking about doing anything.

Hell, if he seriously knows about Uranium One he could just drop the transaction papers in October and single-handedly "win" the election.

A significant block of Bernie's supporters were left-leaning independents voting in open primaries.
