A and B. That was easy.
Nintendo is going to pick differently.
They're going to have to. $300 isn't a sustainable price for a handheld, and as a console you've just entered XB1 Slim territory.
A and B. That was easy.
Nintendo is going to pick differently.
I think it's exactly this. I think instead of saying "how can we sell 100 million consoles again?" Or "how can we compete with Sony and MS again?", Nintendo had a reality check and said to themselves "Look, between handheld and console we feel we have a fairly solid and loyal base of 20-30 million users, let's try and serve them in the most fiscally efficient way and make the most money we can off of them, while at the same time diversifying into things like mobile, movies, theme parks, ect... as alternative revenue streams". I mean, in the same way Marvel/Disney don't expect the millions of people who watch MCU movies yearly to magically start buying comic books, I don't think Nintendo can expect Pokemon Go to convince casual non-gamers to buy dedicated gaming hardware, but guess what? Their money is just as green as yours.
This feels like Wii all over again.
WiiU on the other hand was considered shit from the get go.
Wow!!!
They actually did it! First Pokémon Go, now a 2 in 1 system, King Nintendo's heading back to Wii era levels of relevance, I can feel it!![]()
Looking forward to the possibilities:
- no more disc scratches to worry about, cartridges will likely eliminate load times too
- expecting Xbox 1 level graphics or close to it so I can see slightly scaled down ports of FFVII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3
- hoping for all currently owned VC games to be transferable to the new machine
- hopefully no more of those rancid gyro controls since this isn't BC
- ......what if the cartridge slot lets you play the 3DS library? I know there's no BC with Wii U but that would be amazing!
- imagine a $250 console and $40 games? Huge bonus vs. the Bone and PS4 with their $60 games
The Wii U is a great system but I'm happy to see Nintendo aiming for that #1 spot again. This is too much for a Tuesday. Whew!

I know you're right, but just imagine it.
Nintendos art style on an oled screen?!
I have a Wii U connected to an oled which is great but my god I can't tolerate off screen play on that shitty display.
No thanks Nintendo, cannot stand handheld gaming, in all forms. It being weak is a huge dissapointment but I guess it was expected. Still I held out some hope.
Sorry this is the Wii U again. Nintendo fans will eat it up, but that's about it.
This is Yamauchi's "we will either rise to heaven or sink to hell" redux.
Not liking this cartridge format though; too much cost and old Nintendo cut.
Wait I could play my vita on my TV? Is there some cable you need?I don't know it doesn't has something to fall back on like the motion controls. It's just a powerful handheld with an ability to play on TV. Simillar devices didn't work in the past like Vita or PSTV.
If Nintendo is smart they are working their ass off on some sort of Pokemon Go tie in to be ready at launch.

Oh i'd love it, no doubt.
My concern with NX would be form factor at this point since I don't EXPECT anything particular good in terms of the screen. I've really never liked the Wii U's gamepad - its just never felt right - and while the portability of the NX sounds great having Zelda etc on the go sounds good but could so easily be awful to experience.
So, weaker than the WiiU.

No BC is ridiculous.
At this stage Nintendo should launch some kind of monthly subscription service that gives you access to their back catalogue of games.
Hardcore Nintendo fans must have bought multiple versions of the same game across multiple devices so many times by now...
So, weaker than the WiiU.
Rumored 7" screen? Its like the least portable portable they could think of.
So, weaker than the WiiU.
So once again, we won't be getting much if any third party support because devs don't want to have to build lesser versions of their games/engines for lower-end hardware.
Hm, I guess some or even a lot of people here like that idea but I don't need a powerful handheld. Nearly anybody does...this thing will sell worse than the Wii U.
What is special about it? It's like the Gameboy and Super Gameboy. Yay, finally I can play the handheld games on my TV. That doesn't change the way we play and it's just absolutly lame.
Sorry nintendo, but if thats true, I'm out.
Only PlayStation TV.
Vita doesn't have any video-out, like the PSP did starting with the PSP-2000.
Nope.
Looks functional to me.

You're being a bit dramatic, don't you think? Wii U gamepad screen is fine. I play Pokken Tournament and MK8 laying in bed at night all of the time, and it looks just fine. Anyway the NX, no matter what it turns out to be, will obviously be a big step up.

I whipped this up pretty quick. My best guess atm. I'm thinking Wii Remote-style rotation.
If attached, maybe. But eurogamer mentioned them used for 2 player. That's so confusing. Why not just throw in a normal controller that stays with the dock?
I think the main reason they detach is for home play. The 2-player thing doesn't make sense to me either, since most games need more buttons.
Oh... Hmm.. Wait now that might make sense. So there must be a normal controller with the dock for home use, and the detachable ones from the screen can be combined and used as a 2nd controller. Interesting indeed...
I hope games played on tv don't take a graphical hit because they're made for tablet size screens.
we've heard the screen is bookended by two controller sections on either side, which can be attached or detached as required.
However, the handheld's side-mounted control areas are apparently detachable, becoming individual pads for two-player gameplay - as revealed in today's big Nintendo NX news story on this site.
