The Democratic National Convention OT |2016|: The One With the Policy

Rachel Maddow certainly has an interesting 'hot take' on the start of the speech.

She thinks it was chauvinistic and not feminist enough and too much about Bill. I don't agree at all.

What do you guys think?

There was def a bit of creep in there at the start but I didn't think it was malicious creep. The rest of the speech made up for it though. IMO of course.

I legit don't understand how someone could watch the RNC and the DNC and want to vote for the Republicans instead. This is just night and day difference here, it's not even fucking funny.

Really sad even some on the left have bought the caricature of Hillary.

Again, that is not to say she doesn't have flaws, because she does like any other person, especially a politician, but be fair.

She definitely has flaws and the fact that she's up against Trump will sadly have the effect of minimizing them. Not good for the process IMO, when some people feel pressured to settle for the "less bad" candidate because the other is sooo "out there".

For all Obama's perceived failings, there was excitement about his candidacy when he was running for president ("Yes we can"). There is a contrasting sense of depression in some quarters now that they're expected to grit their teeth and vote for Clinton out of fear of Trump.

I think the election will be closer than many people expect. Trump has a shot.

I mean if it is the truth? Then wtf is he to do about it?

Seems like she is trying too hard to find issues where there really weren't any.

Bill's speech has me feeling a lot better about winning this thing in November. He humanized Hillary while educating the general viewer on all of her accomplishments and then hit it home with the #changemaker kamehameha and reality vs caricature elbow drop.

It's such a no-brainer unless your a "vehement" Trump supporter.

It's funny how much the liberal left of Hollywood is apparent here compared to the past.

It's almost as if the right wing attacks over the past 25 years galvanized them to say fuck it and throw their impartiality out the window.

Also why the productions values are so much better than the RNC.

They aren't seeing any of this. The uneducated have already made their choice. It's about actually getting out and voting now.

I am still wrapping my head around on how good his off the cuff stuff was. That Muslim line still has me all giddy.

Quick someone come up with a hash tag for it or something. That one little line should be highlighted over and over. That one line is what this country stands for.

Considering Hillary and her platform is very much the complete opposite of Trump's, especially domestically, I would consider her at the very least the decent choice to a vile one like him with his bigotry, contradictions and lack of clear, concise policy.

i could see how some could find it that way but i thought it was just honest/real and maybe takes away from the speech if you want it to while ignoring what made it great.

yeah, I get it -- Hillary moved across the country chasing a man etc. but its just a sign of the times imo. Hillary's feminist record stands on its own

Want to say that the singers/music has been orders of magnitude better than the RNC.

Well playing at the RNC would pretty much be career suicide for a lot of mainstream artists, they're never going to get decent artists ever again unless they radically change their platform.

I guess this is good for people at the convention, but seems like a poor use of TV time.
