The Democratic National Convention OT |2016|: The One With the Policy

Hillary is problematic for her connections to big money and her status as a warmonger. There are people who cannot support her on principle based on her past actions and her tendency to switch positions over time making her appear untrustworthy.

I doubt most people who can't stomach Hillary will vote for Trump (unless they have other motives like a kind of "nuclear option" to expose the system's issues). However I've heard some people say they'll vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party. If people who usually vote for the Democratic party's candidate don't, that certainly helps Trump.

Hot take.

Very insightful.

Oh, look. He can't sell that either.

This is definitely not pre recorded and stilted.
It might have been live. She definitely wasn't hearing the convention, probably waiting to for the cue to start when the applause died down. Could have been prerecorded too.

How come Hilary Clinton can't speak like she spoke for the first 80% of that little speech? She sounds like an actual human being when she's not yelling/lecturing.

Or, maybe, you have different expectations of how a woman should speak? It's not something we're consciously aware of, but we're socialized to believe that a woman speaking with emotion, or volume or conviction is "yelling" and "lecturing"?

"Women are the answer"

Okay.

The sentiment counts. Specifics could be ironed out later. I mean, women are the answer, but crazy Republican yahoos and Trump idolizing women.... nah. Sarah Palin... HELL NO!

Hillary... yeah. Future young women and girls that will fight for progression and civil unity and justice.... FUCK YEAH!

Regarding Bills speech. You can not like the content, etc from a political stand point, but structurally and presentation wise that was some amazing speaking. Probably going to see some break downs, etc in the public speaking circle for that one.

I doubt most people who can't stomach Hillary will vote for Drumpf (unless they have other motives like a kind of "nuclear option" to expose the system's issues). However I've heard some people say they'll vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party. If people who usually vote for the Democratic party's candidate don't, that certainly helps Drumpf.

I ask most of those people who say that what it is they actually know about Jill Stein or the Green Party.
It tends to be nothing.

Andrea Mitchell likes Bill's speech? Wow.

I'm a straight white dude and that "One of you" line has got me tearing up.

Meanwhile Bill just makes me wish I grew up in the 90's.
I was an Ole Miss student when he was re-elected. The anger on campus was amazing. Not burn-shit-down amazing like in reaction to Obama's re-election, but still damn damn amazing.

That is their choice. Honestly, I find nothing wrong with changing positions, better someone change for the better than to remain static.

As for the connections, people have been unable to provide any proof she's been in any way influenced by big money outside of speeches she made after her time as SoS. She was a private citizen at the time.

I really enjoy listening to conservative talk radio at times like these. Last week, people were being "too critical" but this week we get things like "I don't see enough American Flags" and "it's too hot in there" from the conservatives. I'm not a liberal, but I enjoy the hypocrisy from the right at times. It really makes me wonder how people buy into the "fair and balanced" thing.

Women are the answer to what? That's such a loaded statement.

If you're truly a feminist, then you believe in gender equality, not superiority. Hillary's qualifications for the job as compared to Trump's inepitude aside, a female president is no less likely to fuck up the country than a male one.

When I was 15 I was opposed to gay marriage, and so was a pretty big majority of the country. People's opinions change over time!

Anyone listening to NPR feel like these hosts are fucking twats?

Is that the NPR/PBS joint thing? I like Gwen, but Judy has been grating on me for a while now.

Anyway, I'm kind of in awe of the brutal efficiency of this convention's programming. They refined this thing into a remorseless machine of party promotion.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing - that's the purpose of the event. I'm just legitimately impressed with how well-planned the whole thing is (especially in contrast to last week's shit-show).
