Trump 'hopes' Russia will hack US government for Hillary emails.

I don't even care if he's in Russia's pockets or just a moron who doesn't know what he's talking about. The sad part is that we've just become so desensitized to Trump's outrageous comments that we quickly dismiss this as "Just Trump being Trump".

Hell, even if he was mostly joking, what does that excuse exactly? Just the notion that he shouldn't be tried for treason? Congrats, I guess....That misses the point.

And there's a whole bunch of undecideds who believe you don't destroy potential evidence when under investigation unless you want to hide something.

The narrative by the media is the hack and in the case of the 30k emails - ignoring the shady as shit behaviour above because it's bad optics for Hillary.


Trump is hijacking the narrative, he's playing the media and keeping the Hillary deleted emails going when the press doesn't want to touch it. He's playing everyone. He knows it won't damage him.

I said before that's ammo for her opposition and here it is being used. I'll be honest I'm fascinated by Trump's rise. A racist, xenophobic, bigoted fuck that manages to control the narrative indirectly and the media is beside themselves to give him time.

Observing this election is something else. Scary as fuck someone like him is so close, but fascinating, nonetheless.

It's an effective strategy to fight the west. The right wing in the US is primed and ready to start taking a pro-Russia stance. Right wing voting blocs are like clay right now. An effective demagogue could successfully campaign on a pro-Russia foreign policy, it's happening right now. He diminishes and demeans America and tells his supporters how smart and strong Putin is, making foreign policy suggestions as he were Putin in disguise. It's almost too easy.
 
If I joked about a bomb on a plane I'd be arrested. Saying something that compromises national security under the guise of a "joke" is irrelevant. No, I do not think his comments will incite formal charges, but I do think that all the evidence together warrants investigation into him and his ties to Russia. At the very least it should be required for him to release his tax returns so we can see what he is hiding.
 
Wow, Trump can get away with anything, can't he? With the media backing him up, I guess he'll get through this borderline treasoniness act. I'm starting to wonder if he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and get away with it.

Well, let's not act like the media is totally clueless either. They know Trump = ratings, and there's a good reason why only a select few have truly taken him on to try and take him down. They know once crazy Trump is gone, so too are the ratings that he's assuredly provided in a time with TV ratings are on the decline.

I'm watching Fox News and Chris Wallace just called the comments serious regardless of whether it was in jest or not. He clearly thought they were a bad idea.

Wow he also just said he will get Clinton's first interview after she is the nominee. That's a big get for Fox News.
 
The anti-Russia members of the Republican party, which is probably most of their elected representatives, must be about to burst from withheld anger from seeing their Presidential nominee doing everything but licking Putin's jizz off the ground like its mana from heaven.

Fox News does have a couple of on-air anchors that are not 100 percent insane all the time. Although they had been getting laid off one by one.

Gonna be great when it's just Trump and his few lackies campaigning whilst Hillary has both Obamas, Bernie, Bill and pretty much every elected representative out there on her side. People say it will but I seriously doubt that TV controversy is enough to back up an entire campaign trail.

Any reasonable person would never encourage a foreign power to attack them, whether it's online or elsewhere.

Also yeah, Fox News has a habit of firing all its reasonable people.

I think at least one of them need to go after Trump pretty hard. I know people think that Trump is bullet-proof, but a real fire-and-brimstone take down of him will be hard to ignore. But both of them don't need to. Really, I would say Biden needs to go for the throat, while Obama stays general and expected and more supportive of Hilary as a candidate over Trump as the enemy.

Russia doesn't need Trump permission to do that. And most certainly Russian hackers tried, or are trying right now to gain access to data from Trump, the Republican party or any important American Institution or Agency. That's what they do. Sometimes they are successful. What's new and somewhat surprising in this DNC email hack is that Russia Secret Services then proceeds to publish those emails through Wikileaks, choses a very specific time to release them, and they are nothing but office chatter between co-workers with similar inclinations. Why bother then? What's Russia interest in messing with DNC?

Ian interview with Florida news station CBS4 Miami, Trump denied he had any business dealings with Russia and even went so far as to say that he’d never met Putin.

“I have nothing to do with Russia, nothing to do, I never met Putin, I have nothing to do with Russia whatsoever,” he told the station.

This is interesting because during a debate last year, Trump explicitly said that he’d met Putin while the two of them were set to appear on 60 Minutes.

julia ioffe does really good work on russia (she's from there and speaks the language) and did a profile of melania a while back that got her a lot of garbage from the trump following.

basically she says that the fact that he couldn't ever get anything built in russia despite really wanting to means that he doesn't have deep connections in moscow, he does get real estate investments from shady russian oligarchs because every's getting in on that money these days (chinese oligarchs are getting publicity for doing the same on the west coast these days), but he pretty clearly likes putin and they have significant policy overlap. russian state media is very favorable toward trump and very negative toward clinton.

Breaking News: Trump leaks 40 confidential briefings to the Kremlin. He leaked forty confidential briefings. That's as many as four tens. And that's terrible.
 
The focus now should be on those tax returns. Paint him, the same way the GOP paints their opponents, and play up this new BFF angle with Trump and Putin. Tie in the tax returns as to why he hasn't released them.

I hate to say it, but the DNC is going to have to get down and dirty. I get the high road, but this guy needs to be taken down a notch.
