Yo man, how you gonna learn unless you're playing someone who's a lot better? Earlier I got beat by a Vortexy Akuma like 13-0 and it was cool cause I got to see some tactics I've never ran across before.

Found this kinda funny.. Consoling the guy saying and using how you got 13-0'd by a Vortex Akuma and how it was okay. Yet 10 posts above you said you hated SSF4 and 1 of the reasons was "Vortexs"

:lol

Anyways..

ggs to TimeDog, AZ Greg, Arde, and Hito tonight. Had a blast.

I did some more ranked.. I've been using Cody Exclusively.. Even SSF4 says its my new main cuz I have more matches under his belt then Fuerte.

I'm just shocked I'm hanging around the same PP i left off with Fuerte (Though I'm sure if I played with Fuerte now I'd probably jump another 500-1000. But I'm holding steady with my Cody play which makes me happy. I need to work on Anti Airs and abusing more normals still.

I also have a hard time doing what should be a simple combo..

nj. Fierce, cr. Fierce, hk ruffian, fadc ultra..

I can never get the damn ruffian out and I always get Rocks =[

I love SSF4 with every single part of my body. I just wish Ryu had a vortex. I don't know what the hell to do against Cody :(. I think he has some pretty awesome blockstrings that people aren't abusing enough.

Negative edge? Tap FP instead of holding it down.

I don't learn anything from games in which I get owned big time, those guys usually do stuff I will never be able to do with my 360-controller and lack of time.

But I don't really care either, I will never be a great SF player, as long as I have fun playing online it's all good.

I should do some more than just slidekick-c.MP-c.MP-c.MP-Soul Spiral with Rose though. :lol

not negative edging it.. i think im just hitting it multiple times..
you may be right.. i need to see.. its driving me crazy.. I can get it only like once out of every 5 trys.. even when I think to do it right..

yet... cr. hp into HK Ruffian is just easy as heck.. the standing nj. hp ruins everything =[

Do this: set aside a day where you go into training mode, and don't come out until you do it 100 times in a row.

This is how I learned how to do fierce feint fierce :lol

How do lagswitches work? I fought a Ryu earlier today and every time I had a punish opportunity after a blocked shoryuken, the game starts to lag really badly. Only for that split second. It would be fine after Ryu lands. It was a full green bar connection.

The timing of the lag just seemed a little too perfect. It happened multiple times during the match. Can someone turn on/off lag with a button?

You start up a torrent or something on your computer that takes up all the bandwidth.

2nd Costume Pack is up on XBL (Shoryuken pack)

Has Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, Dan.

PINK COWBOY KEN BWAHAHAH

Where can I see these costumes (and the ones before) if you don't mind me asking

I have a rule...

Start using Chun and show the room your SKILLZ and then switch over to secondary (usually Makoto =P). If I notice a player is sweeping the whole room over and over I use Chun and beat him then next match I switch to Makoto and if I lose someone else keeps playing. I like to watch matches =P. Most people I play with like this method of mine since it keeps everyone playing and enjoying. I also mix Honda, Vega, Rose, Akuma and Gouken into my game too, it's fun.

BTW Timedog stop crying about lag. The other player is also facing the same troubles you are.

EDIT: Also noticed the guy I usually play with and good friend (not a gaffer yet =P) is #1 in the worldwide leaderboards with Cody. Nice.

I made that mistake of misunderstanding Timedog being a flowchart when he was just trolling with flowchart Ken on the last game I played with him.
It's kinda hard to know you're being trolled on online sometimes. :lol
Heh. When I started my SF4 online career, I did it with the intent of just being the most frustrating flowchart Ken I could be. After a while I kept fucking up the flowchart and adding in other moves, so I've since "graduated" to Dan. Knee hopping right over wakeup Tiger Destruction at point blank and following with a "What's the problem?" was my single favorite thing to do in vanilla. Too bad Sagat isn't so common anymore. :(

T. Hawk is currently giving me lots of problems. Can't get close if they play it safe. Range game is almost nonexistent.

So yeah, sorry about that post last night. I know I should "level up my game" but with only a limitied amount of time to play SSFIV during the week it's frustrating to have some high level player spoil the fun my friend and I were having.

I wish I was like some of you guys that seem like they are able to spend 5 or 6 or more hours a night playing. :(

I really don't think this is an excuse. Anytime you get frustrated when you lose (consistently, shit happens in a 1 match single elim tourney) you're doing something wrong. You are obviously not taking the time to learn what you can out of your losing matches and that will forever stunt your growth.

To say this in the nicest way I can...

stop being a bitch and level up

Just finished all of the trials. :D

My last one was Fuerte's RSF (Run, stop, fail).
I can always do the first two just fine. Then that third one wants to be difficult. I'm either out of range, or Fuerte wants to TORTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILA!

Man, I didn't realize how big of a difference the Ryu dp change is for me. I can't rely it on it as an AA anymore.

Now I have to start using c.hp and s.rh more often than I'd like.

I don't know how it happened, but I seem to be maining Boxer. Totally not who I would have ever expected to gravitate towards, but now that I'm actually trying to learn the game properly instead of just beat the CPU (Being able to play against people online is an absolute godsend), Boxer just seems to suit my style of play.

Anyway, I constantly see j.HK>c.LP>c.LP~c.LK XX HP Headbutt listed as one of his bread and butter combos, but I find that j.HK>c.MP XX HP Headbutt is not only a shitload easier for me to do (The former combo, I finally thought I had down pat, but for some reason I can't pull it off anymore : /), but does more damage as well. Is there any advantage to using the first combo that I'm just not seeing? I guess it would give you more time to charge the headbutt, but I'm holding down as soon as I jump, which gives me plenty of time with just the medium punch...

It gives you more time to hit confirm. That is, seeing whether the c.lp's actually hit before doing the headbutt, as headbutts are incredibly unsafe. If you throw them out there and the opponent blocked, you will eat at least some damage, very possibly a huge chunk.

It's quite the achivement you managed to the RSF going backwards. :P
I got the trial first time. It's not that hard
when you main the character and practice the move daily...

I believe it's for the hit confirm. It's easier to use the LPes to check whether your opponent is blocking or not so you can go for the throw instead.

c.MP combo is great if you are 100% that the j.HK/HP will connect. If your opponent blocks the j.HK/HP, they can throw or reversal before you can do your block string with c.MP. c.LP is so much faster and safer, if you're not sure about what's gonna happen with that jumping attack.

One totally safe situation for this would be when your opponent is stunned. But in that situation I would just use j.HK ~ close s.HK ~ s.LP xx EX-Upper and so on. Although with Ultra, it might be sometimes better to just jump and MP xx Headbutt it.

I'm really hating Gouken DF Dive changes... argh... >:(
im beating alot of people with Guil.....urrrrumm, Gouken

He's a better zoner in Super, the DF nerf makes his move in a bit predictable(and boring for me).

edit: his new alt costume is the Shit:D

Nothing is more frustrating than fighting a solid Sim imo. Either I'm insanely predictable (likely) or the guy I was playing last night could freakin read my mind. Wanted to smash something after I ate a pair of stretchy arms about 20 times to the face.

Still hate Rog more though. Eff you and you're million insanely fast insanely high priority jabs.

Really man? I learn from my matches, but when someone's so far ahead of you in skill there isn't much you can do. You make it sound like after I lose a match I should be able to instantly digest and apply everything that happened and win from then on.

I just don't have the time to devote to the game like a lot of you guys do, and all I want to do is have some close matches with people of similar skill when I play. Why is that so bad? I know I'll never be pro or tourney level so why should I kid myself?

There actually ARE lag switches.

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=lag+switch&_sacat=See-All-Categories
http://www.freewebs.com/magicswitch/installationinstructions.htm

They are usually advertised with "Call of Duty" or similar in the title, but yes, they exist and there are assholes that purchase them for $25 and use them repeatedly. I only encountered one person in SF4 Vanilla online that was undoubtedly using a lag switch; it was a Blanka who would do his ultra right next to you and then hit the switch. It would go from full speed to like 3 frames per second, and it made his ultra unblockable (character couldn't stand up to block the overhead in time).

Yeah, I was "that guy" briefly. When the game had just been released my IRL buddy invited me to an endless battle room. I was winning seven or eight straight with Adon, so I was really feeling myself and switched to Makoto, and I still won. After I got the endless ten trophy I left the room and later my friend told me it was for Scrub GAF and I felt horrible :(
Those guys could probably beat my ass today though, I have like, barely played SSFIV.

quick question Gaf: Im trying to do trial # 18 with Juri and I noticed that I have to cancel out a M Punch in order to do the dive kick. How do I cancel out that second punch? I thought pressing M punch twice would cancel in order to make the dive move but it is not working out for me.

Advice?

I suck hard :(

HELP!?

I just read that Mago article on your site. Funny stuff. I liked your old posts, too. You should update more often.

Do the first MP while they are at the height of their jump, hold uf then the second you hit MP the second time, do EX dive kick. Remember, you're not jumping again for the dive kick, you're canceling the j.MP.

I'm just trying to picture what kind of sad fuck would go to the trouble to purchase and install a lag switch to troll out a win in an online game where winning hardly matters in the scheme of things.

I'm missing 4, 2 of which are kind of random:

Fuerte's jump-in something, 4x s.LP, c.MK - I was terrible at it in Vanilla and always whiffed the c.MK, so I just skipped it for now :P

Gouken's air-to-air jf.MP into EX Tatsu - I have no idea what height the opponent should be for the EX Tatsu to hit, but I didn't try for very long. Is it just me, or does it have a tiny hitbox?

Viper and Ibuki's SJC Ultra combos - a friend showed me the timing for Ibuki since it's a little different from Viper's... but I'm so bad at doing SJCs after a bunch of links, so I just gotta grind it out till they land =|

Overall, the challenges seem much easier than Vanilla's, IMO.

On Ibuki's SJC trial, you have to buffer qcf + uf after the s.lk and before the s.mk. Practice doing that by itself so when you buffer it you will immediately jump after the 2 hit combo. Once you can do that consistently, add in qcf + uf + KKK. Once you can do that consistently, add in the c.lk and c.lp.

So in total you do:

c.lk
c.lp
s.lk
qcf+uf
s.mk
qcf+uf
KKK

If you keep doing kazegiri, slow down.

Besides the flowchart winquote, there was supposed to be a bunch more referential humor in the game, some even related to the American cartoon and SF Van Damme film. Has anybody picked up on any of it?
I haven't delved into any of the single player content so I have no idea.
