So, are we expecting "worst movie ever", "absolute trash" from critics and a 16% in that garbage site which has terrible, boring, forgettable movies such as Thor 1 or Avengers 2 with 70% and a movie with the exact same "problem" as BvS (Avengers 1) with 90%?

Yeah I'll keep ignoring that crap and feeling bad for people who give these "critics" enough credit to let them determine wether or not they should watch a movie. I'm glad I didn't give a shit because I liked Batman v Superman. Much better movie than overrated mediocrity like Guardians of the Galaxy, I tried very hard not to fall asleep through that. 91%, hahaha, fucking absurd. Putting the Marvel logo at the beginning gets you far these days.

The fact that Amazing Spider-Man 1 has a better score than the sequel alone should be enough to ignore the "tomatometer" altogether.

For the nth time, that is not how Rottentomatoes works. Guardians of the Galaxy getting a 91% doesn't mean it was scored 9.1/10, it means 91% of critics thought it was worth at least a 6/10. The average rating is the one you want to twist yourself into knots complaining about.

(Guardians' is 7.8/10, which imo seems totally reasonable.)

ASM2 was dogshit. That movie broke me. ASM1 was servicable.

If you had to recommend MoS or BvS:UE, which would you choose?
http://www.strawpoll.me/10894912

MoS. It's the better film pacing wise, action wise and coherency wise. Ultimate Edition just honestly makes the movie worse because instead of simply asking what happened to this film you now ask why was this critical moment cut and if it was for rating why the hell did you shoot R-rated content for a PG-13 film. The fuck is Superman doing in a R-rated movie? Not to mention it still doesn't fix all of BvS issues plus I'm positive Jessie Eisenberg/Goyer/Snyder have no idea who Lex Luthor is.

I am
totally blown away that Action Bronson, who I was first introduced to on Fuck, That's Delicious, is on that soundtrack.

Talk about a meteoric rise

If anything People can say SS had a dope soundtrack. One of the best I've heard so far.

How is a projection something that is set in stone? Wouldnt be the first one this year that makes lesser money as assumed.

It's pretty much guaranteed to have the biggest OW in August though. Projections can't go that wrong. I would even say 115M is safe, beating GotG which was at 94M.

I like Heathens.

Edit: If this has good WoM, I can see it beating BvS.

In the same way that BvS was disappointing. It's all about the legs. That opening could be very front loaded.

BvS, the two biggest super heroes of DC, two of the most iconic heroes of all time, for the first time in one movie... You have high expectations.

Suicide Squad is basically a bunch of randoms that nobody knows about (the general audience), saved by the presence of Harley Quinn. Joker is in 10 minutes.

Not exactly the same expectations IMO .

At this point it would be almost impossible for SS to make less that $200M domestically. That's not a bomb. Unless we've decided that a bomb is anything that we don't like.

Suicide squad is not BvS, so that doesnt really matter. $125M OW and $250M domestic would still be great. The budget was in the same range as Winter Soldier and Thor 2. Not BvS or Age of Ultron.

I saw an early screening of this. I live on a Navy base and we had the opportunity to see it on Saturday. I won't get into specifics but I will say that I thought it was awful. The entire movie felt terribly disjointed. Like a collection of loosely related scenes hastily thrown together in editing. I didn't particularly care much for any of the characters either. Joker and Harley Quinn were unbearable through most of the movie and the bits of humor they tried to inject with them fell completely flat. There was one very terrible scene where the Joker lifted his hand tattoo of a grinning mouth up to his face in lieu of an actual expression. Tonally the movie is all over the place. It's like it can't decide whether it wants to be something like Deadpool or super serious so instead it fails at doing both. The ending is literally the ending of a popular film from 1984 that will go unnamed.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but I know there are people who will want to see it to judge for themselves. I would recommend those people go to a matinee.

Edit: Also don't go in expecting much Batman he's in there for about 45 seconds.

So the perfect follow-up for BvS?

They obviously ripped off Ghostbusters.

Which ironically might make Suicide Squad the vastly superior Ghostbusters of 2016.

#satisfied

Nah, they push the villain into his power source and then shine sunlight on him as he's powering up and he dies.

Just like in the 1984 smash hit: Gremlins.

No wait! They change the minds of small town America through the power of dance, just like Footloose!

Most people likely don't know Joker's true presence in the film, hell some people actually think dude is a suicide squad member. The marketing team has been on point with themselves but wom can kill.

You're correct it isn't a bomb at 200M domestic, still I've been comparing it to Guardians of the Galaxy and that's what I'm expecting from it if not slightly better given that it has Harley Quinn, Joker, Batman and Will Smith. I think less than 700M worldwide would be a disappointment and I think that's entirely possible if not probable.

Only $200 million domestic for this movie would be a spectacular bomb. Do you not understand how movie budgets and BO revenues work?

The article some shared yesterday said the budget for this thing is very high due to reshoots. I'd say that makes it at least $200 million, maybe more.

Who is talking about box office disappointments?

Bomb. Disappointment. Not the same thing.

How is a projection something that is set in stone? Wouldnt be the first one this year that makes lesser money as assumed.

But we know from the interest/hype that it will throw up big enough numbers on its opening weekend to ensure that it won't bomb.

I work hard, man

God bless you and all those that sail in you.

I'd say 200M isn't a bomb on the assumption it makes up for it abroad. Like I said though less than 700M worldwide isn't gonna look good imo.

I was using BvS as a comparison for how that kind of opening can still lead to a bomb. If I remember correctly BvS made half its total gross the first weekend right? $400M? That film should've crossed $1B WW but it didn't.

If it opens in the 110-140 range it'll blow past 200M. It would have to have massive terrible WOM. Even then their isn't competition.

First review for RT is up.

Rotten:

Well alright then. Just glad you aren't one of those who thinks a studio keeps 100% of the gross.

Where's the review? It just comes up with the Suicide Squad page with nothing on it for me.

edit: Found it. Had to scroll so far down to see it.

Gave it the same score as he gave Ghostbusters, The Secret Life of Pets, X-Men Apocalypse and Civil War. In fact, 2/4 seems to be above average compared to how harsh he is with everything else on his history.
