Because it's cosmetic items and the larger amount of money this system makes means more funds going towards development. I may be used to it coming from games that have some form of this for years but cosmetics are a luxury and if it goes towards funding free updates I am okay with it.

Blizzard is not a starving artist nor do they need Kickstarter-tier crowd funding. This is pure greed plain and simple, they want those juicy Whales to buy 200 loot boxes just to get these skins at the behest of everyone else. There's a point where "It's fine if we get free modes and maps" is not an argument and this is that point.

Of course it is. Because it's what matters most. Cosmetics fund the rest of the content. This form of cosmetic microtransaction makes a hell of a lot more money than being able to just buy a skin. It's not going anywhere and Blizzard isn't suddenly going to want to make less money.
