Cronos: The New Dawn | Temporal Diver Mode Announced | New Game Difficulty

They need to make games where once death occurs the game is over and you have to start a new. Even if you managed to stay alive for ten hours without dying, that one mistake should cost everything. No unlocks, no perks, no nothing.

Never too late to go back - unless you didn't enjoy the story/lore/esthetics etc 😀
I enjoyed all of it, but Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection came out and robbed all my attention span. so now I can't even imagine trying to remember what i was doing, and how the game works, etc. My memory is not the best lol

Not good enough, they should have made a 30$ difficulty DLC where a streamer or youtuber comes to your house and plays the game for you.

Sure, it's understandable from a financial perspective, but fuck, it's so tiresome this dumbing down of games with easier modes that you can beat the game while watching a show, the painted ledges, non-stop verbal diarrhea of in-game characters telling you what to do.

People can play the game how they want, for all I care. But the game simply isn't that difficult. I was worried before I started it because it was said to be, but turns out of you play methodical, focus on the right upgrades (inventory space, health, starting gun and shotgun for me), it's not hard at all. I died like 10 imes or so before finishing it I think.

Lol, and then there's me now playing Hard Mode NG+ and still finds it quite easy. Just choose the best weapons and use the torch appropriately. And set R1 to run.

This is out now. Wish games would go back to launching with difficulty options. quit trying to be souls dickrider try hard games. Looking at you cronos, lies of p, last khazan, etc.

So what does easy mode change exactly? More ammo and less enemy dmg/health? Seems like a weird thing to advertise months later.

Glad this new easy difficulty mode is out. Now I'll keep playing it.

I assume there's no way to change difficulty in a current save and I'll be forced to start a new save?

The fact we have come to the point where a new lower difficulty has to be advertised as some god sent for really shit players is truly disappointing and just downright pathetic.
It doesn't decrease the size of your dick having options. It hurts nothing. You're still awesome for being better at videogames than some others. Rest easy.

I normally don't even use these modes. I just want to know it's there before I buy a game. I don't have a ton of gaming time and i want to make progress.

Don't be a tryhard dick

Yes you do, otherwise you wouldn't complain about them. Respect the developers vision or move on. Simple as that.

That's not the developer's fault. They don't have to cater to everyone, play something else then.

If it hurts a developers ego to have someone actually complete their game a slightly different way, they need help. Less than half of their customers finish the game.

I've done easy mode on probably 3-4 games in my life. Last one I can remember is Ace Combat 7. Doesn't change my stance on having the options at launch though.

That's not my point. The game isn't really difficult at all. The developers are wasting time and money on something so minuscule when they could be making a content DLC patch or better yet a sequel, that is my problem. But they have to go cater to the cry babies who clearly are too lazy, refuses to use their brain and just want to be hand-held throughout life like a 5 year old.

Quit being shit at video games.
It's not about being shit at games but the time you're willing to invest in gittin gud. Personally, my tolerance on learning a games mechanics has decreased significantly with age. Every time I die and have to replay the same section over and over again, I can't help but think I could be playing something else instead. That said, I don't think that Cronos was that difficult at all.

That is not the developers problem. That is a you problem. If you don't have the time or the skill to learn how to play the game or understand the mechanics then move on and play another game that best suits your need. But no, instead you go on to internet and whine about how difficult it is and trying to change how the game is supposed to play, disrespecting the vision of what the developer intended to do. And unfortunately, the developer caves in and delivers an easy mode, watering down the experience for everyone who decided to actually give a fuck and play the game as intended.

Can't say I see the problem. You'd be surprised how many gamers are interested in playing horror games, but are ultimately very reluctant and easier modes like this really help. If this gets a few more people to try a genre they normally wouldn't, I say it's a win for everyone involved.

I failed the same time trial mission on Ace Combat 7 like 5 times in a row, wasting my whole night. Next day said fuck it, switched to Easy, beat it my first try.

Well, I guess they want more people to play the game. Since this mode was originally not in the game, it obviously hasn't been tailored around it but the harder modest. And those still remain. So I'm not entirely sure why you are so butthurt about it.

I can't find the difficulty settings on the Switch 2 version.

Is the patch not out on Switch 2?

Edit: never mind, it's coming to switch 2 later ugh

Before I write more I need to be clear - I haven't played the game yet but I bought it already and it's waiting for it's time.

I see here two issues. First, the developers vision doesn't mean that the team made a good game. It's not like they are the gods of game dev and know everything, including making a good balance. Their track record says something different. Devs are humans, they can be wrong.

I'm not writing that this is the case here, but there are examples (bad and good) where one person is taking decisions that other people from the team think that are bad. Been there done that.

As for Cronos - I've seen reviewers that are good in those games and like them. Still they said that game has an issues with balance. It can be a good game and the same time it can have issues with balance.

Now the second issue - the part about accepting it and moving on. Well that is what some gamers did. They skipped this game because of the issues that reviewers pointed out. Because of that the game sold less then it was expected. It reminds me the situation with Star Wars Acolyte and the drama after ;) .

So you could say - respect the players vision or move on.

And that is what Bloober did - they accepted that the game was considered too hard and because of that it struggles with sales. They said that to investors. If there will be a sequel you can bet that it will have a difficulty options day one. Or it will be easier by default (first option is better).

Anyway it was baffling for me from the beginning - you are making a game in genre that is small (Resident Evil is an exception). And yet you are deciding to make the game for even smaller player base because of difficulty choice. Of course they were aiming in higher sales so it wasn't supposed to be a niche game.

I'd say that if you are making single difficulty option then your design and balance needs to be perfect. It's hard to do that and it is more safe to give players choice. Especially, that the game is not too big for going this road.

Is it me or there's no patch available for the Switch version? It says 1.6 is the last one.

I have no shame using this mode, I liked the atmosphere of the game but combat felt clunky as hell.

Pretty much all of the bigger survival horrors released in the last few years had multiple difficulties (or even more advanced options like separate settings for combat & puzzles), Bloober's game was the only exception. I'm glad they responded to the criticism, although making fun of difficulty comments in the trailer seems like they're still butthurt about it. ;)

Survival horrors should offer decent challenge, but they should also offer other choices. Players have various skill levels (sometimes related to their health or age) and preferences when it comes to ingame mechanics (like expecting a tougher time only with the puzzles), plus some people will want to do specific playthroughs, like collectible or trophy cleanup. Forcing one universal setting is a bad idea.
