Just saw that
Bats mouth to mouth resuscitation
clip that some critics were triggered by

My god, some people just love to complain about nothing

I've heard The Joker is barely in this but what about Batman? I assume that he is also barely in it but hoping we get at least one cool action sequence with him? If so, how does the action stack up to the best bits of Batman in Batman vs Superman - the fight against the goons holding
Martha Kent

The action is some of the least inspired I have ever seen. It's garbage and there isn't one memorable scene. (at least not for good reasons)

The qualities of this movie are elsewhere.

Batman has several scenes, they're very short. Not very impressive.

No. The brief Batman stuffs you saw in the trailers are like 75% of his overall appearance in the movie.

Why can't WB hire writers and directors that actually care about the DC characters / universe?

They care, do they not? Snyder and Ayer definitely cares; they put efforts into their film, that's for sure. I think the problem is that either their interpretations of the characters and source materials are different than many's, or the studio interference prevents them from accomplish what they want to do, or even both. So what we need, imo, is someone who can overlook the creative decisions put into future DC films, and I think Geoff Johns can do just that; at the same time, let the director do their best and don't butcher their works like what happened to BvS and SS.

??? of Joker?

Batman pulls a seemingly unconscious Harley out of the water (abandoned by The Joker) Batman goes to resuscitate her and she kisses him back, revealing her to have just been fucking with him to some degree -- although she was in serious danger and couldn't swim.

Half of the squad members are pretty one dimensional. I dont know much about the history for some of the characters, but i feel terribly bad for Katana for some reason.

That actress must have had the easiest payday out of the entire cast. Appears in a lot of scenes doing nothing but holding her sword.

What does that even mean? To be fair, it's a mindset seen here, that there's a divide between the "critics and reviewers" and us, as if those critics and revieers aren't people just like us

Well, a critic goes into movie looking to critique it. Your average movie goer is just going to go see a movie. That little variable can mean all the difference sometimes. That was a terrible way to word it though.

Ropeguy wasn't even invited to the premiere?

That's harsh, man.

Seriously, how many seconds of screen time does that due have, does he even have lines?

Look at Leto's soulless gaze. He went too deep into the Joker, man. He went too deep.

This was so horribly written that I find it difficult to believe that anyone was laughing sincerely. I don't think there was a problem with the casting, cast is good(apart from Enchantress) - but the script was awful, the jokes were flat, the characters boring and inauthentic.
Glad I was pretty high while watching this, if I was sober I might regret it more than I do right now.
It wasn't even a particularly fun action movie either

Believe it or not, people actually do enjoy things that you dont.

Look at Twilight.

Hated by critics and yet it has a lot of people that love it.

Now Ayer is just being salty and has some bad faith because his movie isn't all that "for the fans".

But I can understand what he is trying to imply.

Just watched SS, it was pretty enjoyable and if I had to rate it out of 10, it'd be 7.5. My theater seemed to like it, people were laughing their heads off when the jokes came and gone. The beginning was dull but got much more interesting up till the end of the movie.

I really liked Will Smith's spin on Deadshot and Margot pulls off an impressively fun Harley and a badass one too. Jai's Captain Boomerang was also a standout of the movie for me, in that funny asshole way. Jared's Joker is interesting, he's more of crime boss character that is real passionate bout Harley unlike other interpretations of Joker. Im not in love with his take yet but definitely wanna see more of his Joker. The rest of ensemble were also pretty great too, El Diablo and Killer Croc were fun side characters. The plot is as cliched as you'd expect but the characters make it a fun ride out of a generic save the world mold.

I didn't like the really heavy use of pop songs here and there but thankfully, in the later half of the movie they stop that shit. Wish they used more orchestral music cause when that soundtrack played, it made those scenes better instead of popular song #452. There's also some odd use of slow mos that were there just for of being 'cool'.

Overall, it was fun flick to watch. One thing I can say as a fact is that its way less moody than BvS.

Been reading io9's A Brief History of Suicide Squad Being the Worst Place to Work, Ever (Part 1 and 2)...

There is some really whacky shit they put the cast through that was really not worth it for this film

Yo...what the actual fuck

I hope Margot sterilized that tattoo equipment properly. The punching shit is just straight up dumb

From the comments on part 2

Ben Affleck: “Yeah, Zack Snyder really wanted me to understand Bruce Wayne on a personal level. So one day, I walk onto set and... this was really funny... he had invited my parents down to do a set visit. They toured the set a little bit, met with the rest of the cast, and Snyder showed them some of the dailies that we’ve been shooting. Then, as we were walking out of the theater that showed the dailies, Zack showed up and shot my parents to death in front of me. He’s really dedicated to realism”

Your comments would vastly differentiate if this actually was a good movie, just sayin.

It's easy to shit on something afterwards. This was all, more or less, known.

I don't think any movie is worth that stuff, honestly. Showing someone those kind of videos? Thats straight up traumatizing, I think I might actually need therapy if I saw that

I would have found this shit ridiculous for any summer movie of this nature regardless of it's quality

The way someone approaches movies by way of watching for their job is fundamentally different than someone who just wants to go and experience it. There's a reason so many critics are jaded assholes. Personally, I place very little value on a criticism of a piece of art that was only experienced once and with very little time to examine it.

If the actors consented to that stuff and came out as best friends, why does anyone have a problem with it?

Sheesh.

It sounds bad reading it, but the same actors frequently collaborate with Ayer and speak highly of the process. Now, if you wanted to say his methods are extreme for a superhero film? sure. But it worked for his cop and WW2 films.

Saw it today and a lot of people behind me did laugh at a lot of the jokes, so I guess the humor worked for some people at least.

Just got out of an IMAX screening.

Not bad. Could be better. But not a disaster or anything. I'll post a more detailed impression in a bit.

I think reviews blew out of proportion how terrible this movie is

But I found it remarkably forgettable/average

See I can see someone saying it's average or forgettable. It's in no way shape or form a bad or horrible film. Not even remotely close. When I hear or read that that person can just get the fuck out. Just got home from my viewing and both myself and my sister really enjoyed it. The crowd was really into it and plenty of laughs throughout as well. Plan on seeing it again this weekend.

I really think people should see this and form your own opinion and don't be afraid to go. I'm not saying you'll love it and you might even be bored but go. This is third time I've come away from a DC film enjoying myself a lot. I'm really curious now if others just start automatically ignoring negative reviews going forward, especially because they are so over the top once again. That's the BS I can't stand. I'm at a point now where when I see the over the top negative reviews I can't help but believe some of these people are just outright lying. Not that they're bought off by anyone, etc but for some reason they're lying their ass off. Going back to some of the parts of reviews I saw I have no clue what fucking movie some of these people watched.

Now any film can be picked apart but I don't go to films to do that. I go to be entertained and enjoy myself be it a serious film, action film, or comedy, etc. Mission accomplished Suicide Squad. This isn't me saying this because I want to desperately defend the film. I have no problem saying something is trash. This film wasn't at all.

I'll save discussion for the spoiler thread, but this was a mess. I went in optimistic as I enjoyed BvS and X-Men Apocalypse. This, geez, most if the time it's toothless. Just technically there's bad ADR throughout, rough editing, overuse and poorly placed pop songs, sometimes bizarrely back to back.

It's frustrating. Good to great characters stuck in an uninspired plot and situations.

I saw both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman despite horrible reviews and not being all that interested in anything the trailers presented and both of those movies were just as bad as I expected.

Well, just got out. Some thoughts. No spoilers but I'll tag it anyways.

Better than BvS for what that's worth. Uninspired action, waste of a good concept, could've been so much more. Should've been smaller scale, making it so cataclysmic with another sky beam didn't work. Plot meanders and is full of holes. Bad editing, you can see the scissor marks again.

Some decent character stuff. Still didn't love Harley, she was okay, some forced sounding dialogue; but some of the other characters were good- Deadshot, Croc, Diablo and Boomerang. They needed more interaction. Katana was good but barely used. Enchantress looked cool at first.

The movie and cast deserved better. It could've been amazing.

Side note:

Leto's Joker was fucking terrible. They should've recut it to remove his try-hard ass completely. Worst part of every scene he was in.

Got back from IMAX a bit ago. You can tell the studio fucked with the movie, editing was odd to me especially in the opening as some of those scenes didn't feel like they went together but honestly it's the most consistent DC film, which coming off BvS and MoS is the most positive thing I think I can say.
