Man.....

The movie is about the Dunkirk Evacuation. Basically (from what I understand) a large number of Allied soldiers were cornered in Dunkirk, France and there was a hasty, cobbled together evacuation. Guys/bodies on the beach are presumably soldiers who fought in the battle, and the guys on the boat are being evacuated. You can hear a plane getting closer when they duck, so they're probably about to get attacked by German forces.

Man, Vietnam must have sucked.

Do Americans learn about Operation Dynamo during history?

Im Australian and was fortunate to have a world war 2 buff as my history teacher at school, so this evacuation was taught over a couple of weeks.

Hitler's second biggest blunder IMO.

With how good this already looks, I'm glad that Spectre is looking to be the odd man out in his filmography. That film looked like anyone could have shot it.

i dunno about that. the scenes in Rome and Mexico looked really damn good. his quality still shines through. Mendes made some boring ass Bond movies but they looked impeccable.

Nolan's been getting better work out of him though going by Interstellar and now this trailer. I also think TDK trilogy looked great with Pfister, best looking comic movies by a large margin. But Hoytema is an upgrade.

No. We glanced over WW2 in World history in highschool. We focused more on WW1. If it was WW2 history, we only talked about the d-day invasions (The teacher showed the first part of Saving Private Ryan and the Battle at Brecourt in Band of Brothers.)

Looks stunning as expected from Nolan GOD, I particularly love the last shot as the bomber engine noise drew closer to those clueless soldiers, gave me legit chills.

I think the only scene I really liked from a visual standpoint was the Spectre meeting itself. All those dark shadows pouring over everything is totally my bag.

I didn't think much of Mexico beyond the obvious technical prowess that went into the one-er that opens the film. Like, I agree that it was impressive on that front, but it didn't do much of anything other than that.

Visually stunning from a cinematography and color standpoint but also powerful in its depictions of the events unfolding on an emotional level without an ounce of words being uttered. Can't wait to see this.

The scene itself is great, but once you focus for too long on any of the individual faces, oh boy....

Nolan was absolutely dire with big group extra scenes in Dark Knight Rises, I wish he would care a little more on the little details like this, it's just sloppy.

You guys realize it's not the director's job to micromanage extras, right? That shit's ultimately on 2nd ADs and those folks.

What a dark time it must've been to be a Brit (1940).

Nazis pouring all over continental Europe, all the British allies falling like dominoes.

One island seemingly stands alone.
