Even BvS holds means $140M+ this weekend.

Deadline:
Already we’re hearing from tracking sources that early matinees figures are looking like Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Remember that movie, which previewed on Holy Thursday and opened on Good Friday, chalked up an $81.56M first day and a three-day of $166M. BvS ranks as Warner Bros. second highest opening weekend for a film at the B.O., right behind its all-time champ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 which cleared $169.1M in July 2011.

150M is happening.

Where are your Chris Evans GIFs now, huh

SUCK IT RT WE IN THE BUILDING

lmao this will die next week

It might have terrible legs but with an opening like that worldwide (and so far it's even doing better than BvS and Civil War in my country) it's definitely going to be a success no matter what. And despite the quality of the film, I don't see audiences reacting as poorly to this as they did BvS.
In a way, I'm kinda glad as I don't want DC to lose their shit and start tinkering too much with Wonder Woman but I hope they don't settle with just being the new Transformers. At this point, I'm not even sure I want the DCEU to happen anymore, despite enjoying Man of Steel a whole lot.

Imagine of the film was good!

(and I don't mean that in a snarky way. Just imagine if the it had impressive word of mouth, which it won't have)

It's going to be VERY interesting to see day-to-day drops on this. The word of mouth I've head so far - from both critics and normal enthusiasts - is nothing short of toxic. "Worse than BvS" has been tossed around many times.

Really? Just going through twitter and forums last night I got the opposite. People generally seem to like it.

I'm curious more to see if this has any legs. Most of my friends that aren't hardcore comic nerds that saw it last night called it a unfunny mess. Anecdotal of course but these people hated BvS as well and made it quite well known what a stinker it was on social media.

Also didn't WB say they needed to make some insane number like 750 million?

I went to the Midnight showing here in London. It wasn't too bad, it's not a great movie either but it's fairly entertaining and enjoyable aside from a few cringey moments

I could see some positive word of mouth.

"The chick was hot and it had all my favorite songs!"

It was sooo mediocre. But as long as WB keeps getting people in the seat to see the trainwreck why change?

I wonder how much more it'd be if it had gotten better reviews.

I mean, it's really hard to guess when reviews have an effect and when not. There are very good movies, critically beloved, that weren't box office hits at all nor had any legs.

We'll be smarter in a week.

#SuicideSquad grossed huge $20.5M from THU pre-show debut. +83% vs Guardians, +61% vs #Deadpool, only 18% below #CaptainAmericaCivilWar.

Even if fan turnout is heavily front-loaded, #SuicideSquad may get near $60M opening day & $140M for opening wknd. New AUG records.

Jesus.

There good at opening weekends at least so far, but I'd argue there are people who love these characters and refuse to believe the train wreck unless they see if for themselves.
I think WW will definitely feel the damage from this.
We will see if it has any legs to counter the critical reception.

One of the best marketing campaigns in a while

Marketers were so good WB upgraded them to film editors, lol.

The trailers and marketing were really on point, imagine what kind of massive success this movie could be if it had actually been a good movie.
