How can WBs marketing be so good and its film-making be so bad? If they could just put out decent stuff money would be pouring in.
Good marketing? I haven't seen any enthusiasm for this film from the general public, just comic book fans.
One of the best marketing campaigns in a while

With two duds in a row, will people still fall for marketing and hype?
I say... Yes.

The general public don't read reviews though.
A typical convo:
Me: no, I'm probably going to wait until (insert movie) hits blu ray, it's getting terrible reviews
Friends: shit, really? The trailer looked insane. I'm going to Friday.

This is the same population that gave us Trump.
The Squad led Korean box office with $2.9M on 732 screens. Opening on a non-traditional Wednesday (Thursday is the typical release date there), this is the 2nd best opening day ever for a Warner Bros film and the biggest August debut of all time for a U.S. movie. The launch more than tripled Guardians Of The Galaxy, per WB and is 58% above BVS and 54% over Deadpool. The robust Korean market is in the throes of a big run for homegrown fare which includes the 3rd frame of zombie smash Train To Busan and the 2nd week of Korean War drama Operation Chromite. Suicide Squad dominated those films as well as new entry The Last Princess which also bowed on Wednesday. Suicide Squad further gives stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie their best openings ever in Korea.
In France, the gang came in at $2.7M, on 667 screens including sneaks. Thats 80% ahead of Guardians Of The Galaxy which was also an August bow in 2014. It was 7% above Deadpools February launch and 57% bigger than BVS.
In Sweden, also on a non-traditional Wednesday, the kick-off was $564K on 147 screens, for a 53% share of the Top 5 films. Thats the biggest August opening day of all time, the biggest Will Smith opening day ever and exceeds GOTG by 50%, BVS by 33% and DP by 2%.

WB needs to to over perform by a lot domestically. The movie isn't looking like it will be released in China.
Well WB got my 5 dollars (early bird+fandango discount) I want to watch this train wrack in person.
I am 100% certain WW box office will under perform due to the backlash from SS and BvS.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

This is a joke post right? This is the same population that gave us Trump.
After seeing it there may have been a good movie once. I think it was edited to hell.Marketing have been great, Trailer had me so hyped. Let see what Week 2 will be like. My sis will be watching the movie with me tomorrow since the trailer is good , "can't be that bad if the trailer is good."
That was my thinking as well, but BvS changed that. Like at least 4 or 5 of my friends said they didn't watch it because it has bad reviews. That happened never before. They fucking watch The Purge movies.
Neither did Deadpool and that did 419M overseas.
Deadpool cost 54 million. This cost 175 million. Probably more, seeing as rumors point to reshoots costing millions.
I think it's more the Will Smith in an action role again appeal than DC.

DC shat the bed. This was more appealing than GOTG and definitely had a $1bn possibility and they screwed it up.
Da fuck? It's his first 100M opener.
Which I found surprising?!?!
Add the marketing budget on top of that.Deadpool cost 54 million. This cost 175 million. Probably more, seeing as rumors point to reshoots costing millions.

Also honesly I think reviews are taking a bigger role in society today. That's why their have been so much flops and run away successes this year. Jungle book destroyed box office and that also destroyed in reviews. Then you have BvS which should have made all the money in the world but had shitty reviews and gets beat buy zootopia which had great reviews.
