With so much talk if post patch support I'm just going to wait til they are done adding everything to the game before I play it.
That will be years from now because Hello Games plans to support this game with continual new updates.

I mean you could wait a couple months I guess and there might be some new stuff out like base building and a new cloud system.

I really hope sites don't do traditional reviews, but rather those journal/diaries-kind of articles that some sites do for Fallout and DayZ and XCOM. This game is begging for that kind of coverage

I am probably going to leave it as a review in progress and cover gameplay mechanics, system loops, overall gameplay experience and funfactor. You wouldn't have to beat it to review it but in the end its so open ended its probably best to cover the things most will experience and go from there

Jeff Bakalar just found an
old abandoned junker ship
.

Seriously, the second I can dump the default ship i'm doing it, even if it's worse in terms of specs.

Also, I can't fucking wait for Vinny to get his hands on the game, he's going to love this.

Of course he isn't, he's not an entertainer he's a programmer/designer. I totally disagree, I always prefer to hear directly from the creator to get that hidden insight that others can't provide. Plus I love math talk.

Maybe I worded that comment wrong, and it was really all in jest. I meant that I enjoy tech talk (and that was the best part of the stream for me) but this was the team's first official stream of the game before release (and first ever), so for some people this was the first real look at the game. They didn't even give that much insight, it was mainly Sean running away from things and wondering aimlessly, which I'm not surprised by because he was playing without sound and streaming at the same time and it's incredibly hard to focus on gameplay and talk at the same time, especially for someone that isn't used to that.

I mean, Sean's own tweet after that was "@GrantDuncan let's never do that again", so I find the whole stream was just a lighthearted attempt at Sean and Grant to just show a bit of the game, vent a bit regarding all the leaks, hype and stuff and just try and explain what's it all about, related to earlier today's blog post on their website. I'm not attacking anyone or saying they should be better entertainers, just lightheartedly saying the stream was maybe kinda crappy a little bit. :)

I think the purpose of Sean's stream was for him to show the patch features, not a But What Do You Do video.

Well, to an extent, but the stream was announced on the "what do you do?" post on their website, and a lot of what Sean was talking about was explaining the early and later part of the gameplay experience, with some comments on the improvements from time to time. I appreciate all the insight and love to see the team talk about the game, didn't mean to come out aggressive or dismissive of what they're doing, I just felt that stream didn't do them that much good.

holy fuck
he's trying to fix it and jack it

Anyone here know if you need to register a card or PayPal with psn to make purchases? I think my US account is ready to go but I can't work out if I can just buy the code now or if I need a fake PayPal to register to it first too.

I'm so close now. Just a step or two left.

If those games got that, then this game surely should. Wether they do or not, is a whole different scenario.

That is why you rock!

Okay yall I preordered the game on the US store!! Didnt seem like there is a ship bonus judging from the description?

Just finished a three hour session.

The game is so good guys. So fucking good!

Love that emergent gameplay. Attacking pirates who might have ttacked traders and stealing their stuff

I just flew off a planet and got intercepted by a pirate. My first dog fight just above atmo, spinning and twirling above the clouds.

It was so effing cool. So good

Nope, if you use a psn pre-paid code to add funds to your account you should be fine.

pure gold? I've never seen that before either. Usually heridium is gold looking.

Ok, I need to find a stream to take my mind off this.

yah huge bolders and deposits of gold, heridium in 1.03 looks like huge square dark columns now. copper is a much darker brown/orange color and for some on this planet it only floats in the air lol.

I want to help but honestly I have no idea what you've done and what you're trying to do. :(

HNNNNNGG. Hype rising to atmospheric levels now. All I want is for the gameplay mechanics to be good/solid cause I'm already sold on everything else.

Posting this one more time being in the same boat:
Amazon.jpg

This is now my default response to Amazon.com shipping issues.

Want your game to be there after work? Well... You're going to have to WAIT by 8PM.

I am too still in this boat, they took their money but have yet to ship.

Found this water paradise planet with HUGE mountains of gold, i never saw gold pre 1.03 so not sure if i should stay here and farm the shit outa this place lol. Wish we could build bases already.
Reminds of those talk of other planets being rich in materials, how it would be easier to mine some other world rather aliens invading earth. Imagine finding a silicone mountain

(post copied over from the screenshot thread to avoid going off topic)

Based on what?

I've seen speculations like this many times before, and I've even tried arguing (and got no convincing answers and much less evidence for these "measurements").

Official word is that planets are "planet-sized".

It doesn't change anything from a gameplay perspective, I'm just interested in it as "science" xD

I'm interested in the "science" too!

Reddit link. Instead of counting pixels though, I recreate a scale model of the planet+camera in a 3D modeling program. Here's an example using a screenshot from today's stream:

The sphere I used to model this has a diameter of 2 units and is 15.801 units away from the camera. Since NMS shows the distance to the surface not the distance to the center, you just need to subtract 1.

Then it's as simple as in_game_distance/model_distance*2=diameter in game units.
761,051 Ks/14.801*2=102,836 meter diameter or ~100 Km since it's not completely accurate.

This is the largest planet I've calculated a size for: ~250 Km

30 FPS is completely fine as long as the game is smooth. Don't even know why FPS is such a big deal, but then again I enjoyed Just Cause 3 lol.

Easy to please I guess.
