Donald Trump suggests 2nd Amendment Folks do something about Hillary

The damage control statements from his staff and Pence are hilariously bad. They give Trump way too much credit for being intelligent, thoughtful, and nuanced in American politics.

I just don't understand how his people can deliver that with a straight face.

He doesn't want his supporters to put Hilary Clinton or her supreme court nominees in their crosshairs; they're surveyors' marks.

If Trump becomes President, I honestly will not be surprised if he says shit like this:

"We could nuke China...we really could. It would be SO easy! You have no idea how easy it would be."

At the very least you'd be in custody here in the US being detained if not arrested by the Secret Service. If it wasn't Trump.

Well considering that the Secret Service is aware of the comments it's not like he's being completely overlooked. Until they update us with something else we can assume they're taking it seriously, not every-day that the Secret Service protecting presidential hopefuls has to investigate comments made by those same people.

Some great comments from people on LA Times:

What a bunch of ninnies, lol. President Trump was merely addressing the good people and made a passing reference to the 2nd Amendment and judges. But the Democratic ninnies projected their own fears on to the whole thing, as they so often do, lol.

Hilarious. All the scaredy-cat liberal minions are scurrying like little mice and "terrified" of Trump.

I'm speechless!

These Trump supporters on CNN are legitimately some of the dumbest people I've ever seen.

Kayleigh is just insufferable. Paraphrasing but she said something like, "When he said those words I thought it was inspiring. Like how 2nd Amendment rights activists would be motivated to unite and fight for our rights. Of course the media and the Never Trump crowd took them as something dark and ominous." Please shut up Kayleigh.

At the very least that man is unfit to be president because he can fucking speak without making any sense. His statements are so moronic and idiotic that you can't tell if he's calling for violence or political pressure.

Well, politicians have a habit of saying a lot without saying anything at all. There are experts that advise on this. Being deliberately vague, not mentioning time table, subtly changing topic, etc. It's a whole art. I once volunteered on a political campaign and the guy was a master at just soaking up air time. It was his explicitly stated strategy: the more I talk, the less time there is for them to talk. Even if I'm not making sense or not addressing the actual topic it's my voice being heard so I'm winning.

The not horrific but just plain stupid side of Trump's comment is that now he and his entire campaign have to spend the rest of the election pretending "second amendment people" is a normal phrase in poltics.

"I love second amendment people"
"We've got the best second amendment people"

Guys being serious here. I am very disappointed in America in having him in this position. I'm sorry but all this greatest country stuff needs to stop. We need to stop trying to declare what we are and start fixing our "deep rooted" problems that would allow a guy like this to be a potential president.

Every time I see a "Shit Trump does or says" thread, I just roll my eyes as the immortal words of Mrs. Obama rerun in my head. I still remember people were ridiculed because we didn't agree with that bit of superlative laced speech as well. Personally, I'd rather not get into whole passive aggressive BS but it's both plain to see and painful as well to watch this train wreck of an election.

I have, however, wondered how come no profession (at least openly) tolerate or employ liars as politics. It simply amazes me how Trump can keep on saying the shit he does without any repercussion. I mean, where are the lawsuits for slanders and criminal charges for misleading an entire country of people let alone the current attempt at veiling a death threat? Last time I checked, free speech =/= pathologically lying let alone with the intent of inciting the masses.

What I don't understand is how these Republican supporters can defend Trump by implying that his comments were ambiguous and misunderstood. Uhh....ok? Who gives a fuck? Do we want a President who makes ambiguous comments which could range from treason to declarations of war to "merely implying this or that." What difference does it make?

Pretty much this. If he didn't go out of his way to make an ambiguous statement about gun nuts saving their country, he's still just a dumb ass with no self-awareness.

Lol yep. Kayleigh looks to be on the verge of a meltdown. And the other dude is basically trying to say that everything is fine with regard to polling and republicans disavowing Trump. "But the 14 million primary voters!"

It literally is incredible (and frightening) that this guy has support in any significant capacity. Sadly, I know a few in my own family. It truly makes you question the gulf in perception that can exist amongst our own species. If I wasn't so comfortable with the general chaos of existence, it might drive me right over the edge. :P

Do you think the people on Hillary's PR team fight about who gets to tell her what Trump just says? Do they Rock-Paper-Scissor for it? Take turns?

The spin that it's a rallying call for legal protest doesn't make any sense because the statement comes right after: THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO .. WELL MAYBE THE ...(etc)

It isn't sane to split off the second part and put a gentler explanation onto it. It goes with the first part. If the gun nuts can protest judges then so can all republicans.

I know a couple in my family too. They're not the smartest. However, they support him because of "muh taxes" and that's basically it. I haven't talked to them in a while about him. I hope after the shitstorm of the past couple weeks they've changed their mind.

It's just a joke!

How quickly people forget that we just had Orlando happen barely a couple months ago. I really don't think anything is going to happen to Hillary but I would not be surprised if I heard about an attempted shooting at a Hillary rally, or at one of her surrogate's rallies, or just gun violence against a Hillary supporter in general.

In this case whoever it was just entered her office and just said: "Madam President..." And she just bursts in laughter and asking between laughs and gasps of air: "he did it?! He really did it?!"

And the shooter's father was at her really. Something going on there. CONSPIRACY

;)

If this is "really" about telling gun rights enthusiasts to vote (which is isn't since he's clearly talking about what happens if Clinton is already elected) then why does he say "I don't know" at the end? You don't know if people can vote, Trump? What part of the political process are you unsure about?

What an idiot.

For a guy who supposedly "tells it like it is", he sure needs a lot of aides and surrogates to make long inconsistent "explanations" of his statements.

I don't know that she felt pure joy when hearing about this. There has to be a deep sense of uneasiness.

Kinda funny that they are calling Democrats pansies when Trump's basic message during his RNC speech was that "I know you are all afraid and about to piss your pants, but don't worry, I can protect you."

Those guys are just clearly morons since you know they would be singing a completely different tune if someone said that against cops or GOP politicians.

I wish I could say the same about my family. They're in that group (at the bottom) who thinks they, along with everyone else, has a realistic chance at the top because bootstraps. Also, smelly Mexicans, the collapse of society from socialistic ideals, Jesus, and all the other hallmarks you might associate with a caricature of a hard-core conservative are all fully present and accounted for. :( Family gatherings can certainly be awkward at times. (and we just had one) But I've learned to bite my tongue until it bleeds sometimes when necessary. Sigh.
