Xbox Scorpio going to have to sell for people to even care or else it would be looked at as just another PC that can play the UWP games. I don't remember much noise being made when the UWP games that are out now released on PC & can be played in 4K vs the PS4. I don't think PC devs are too happy about what MS is doing & Scorpio is going to have to make a big impact to convince devs that they should make UWP games instead of normal PC games & Xbox games..

I've now sold my Xboxone because my PC will all the MS exclusives and PS4 for console friends, Sony exclusives and other games.

Not sure what MS are doing.

Yeah, as soon as Halo 6 hits PC I'm selling my Xbox One. Thanks for making this simpler for me, MS.

Ms betting on the market don't have a lot of customer like you. Even then, they still get to sell you their games, hardware sales+service charge+software sales and royalties vs potential more software sales.
I'm sure they did their research and think the later have more potential. Plus, who else going to push Windows 10 store if MS themselves don't do it?

It's about exactly four weeks. And a few hours. You can call me Mr Countdown. :)

You're right!

They'll lose on Xbox Live money and third party royalties though, nobody gonna buy these games on the Windows Store...but yeah, I'm sure they did crunch some numbers.

For some reason I am not as hyped for this event maybe because it's just an incremental upgrade. I hope we atleast see some cool games.

I'm actually at really low hype levels too, it's just a mild upgrade that probably won't make these games look that much better so that I'd care enough to pay at least 400 bucks.

Really interested what Neo is bringing to the table for 1080p TV users. Not buying a 4K TV till 55" OLED drops to 1500 EUR. They have to absolutely concentrate on the benefits for current users. 4K TV set owner are still the minority.

Yeah, I suppose the enthusiast crowd will see the difference in 1080p. Think of Uncharted 4 SP in 60fps, with cut-scene models used throughout the entire game. I for one think that would be great, but those looking at the game by screenshots or compressed YT videos will have a hard time to see any noteworthy differences.

Long story short, I suppose Neo will be a tough sell for Sony for the Non-4k/PSVR crowd out there.

I'm ready to sell my ps4's. I have 3 in my house 😩.. Now I need 3 Neo's. Bring on the power

Red Dead Redemption 2 at this event?

I don't expect it. That's a better fit for PGW.

And also I think it is a better fit to announce game on a event that is not Neo focused. They need to make it clear that the game will run great on base PS4.

If it doesn't have the best pixels ever seen I'll pass.

If you are a 1080p TV user, all games will HAVE to be at least 1080p on Neo. So pixels will get quality bump...
although I don't know if telltale will able to hit that goal :D

Exactly. I can't afford a great PC so will settle for the xb1 - a lot of people just want the simplicity of a console

So this the beginning of the yearly releases right? Guess I'm out of this and might just get a good PC.

Sony has said clearly that they have no intention of changing the duration of the console generations. This is just a mid-gen bump.

Imagine if PS3 slim had better hardware inside when it appeared few years after the launch of the PS3. Imagine if that generation went exactly the same, we got the same games and PS4 arrived without any changes in late 2013. That is what Sony is doing now, just adding option for a better hardware inside a generation.

Heck, arrival of Neo and PSVR could easily LENGTHEN this generation... but agressive moves from MS will probably prevent that.

Exciting! 1 month wait though...

I'm calling it now: Red Dead 3 reveal at this event to ensure maximum exposure for the Neo.

That return to Days Gone for the press conference closing at E3 didn't make any sense, so in my dreams the rumour about a Red Dead announcement being dropped last minute could be legit. Also the Take Two CEO or whatever his title is repeated the same "soon" for Rockstar news the other day like they did last quarter.

Neo plus RDR3 = me fucking sold!

I'm thinking about selling my ps3... if i can find a buyer for 200e it would be worth it i think.

What things should i make sure i do before i sell it?

If you mean PS4 here you go:

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/basic/relinquish.html

"Transferring or disposing of your PS4™ system

Before you replace, transfer, or dispose of your PS4™ system, delete your Sony Entertainment Network account and other information by performing the following procedures. This helps to protect your personal information and helps to prevent its unauthorized use by third parties.

Back up data

Copy saved data, screenshots, and certain other files that are stored on your PS4™ system to a USB storage device as necessary. For details on how to back up this data, see "Back Up and Restore".

Initialize your PS4™ system

During initialization, the PS4™ system settings are restored to their defaults, and all users and their data saved on the PS4™ system are deleted. Initialize the system under (Settings) > [Initialization] > [Initialize PS4] > [Full].

Notices
If you activated the system as your primary PS4™ system, a screen asking you to confirm the deactivation will appear. You can deactivate a system from that system only, so be sure to deactivate it before transferring or disposing of your system.
When you initialize your system, all settings and information saved on the PS4™ system are deleted. This process cannot be undone, so be sure not to delete any important data by mistake. Deleted data cannot be restored.
Do not turn off the PS4™ system during initialization. If you do, you might damage the system."

I'm also very interesting in this, as going the 4K/Oled/HDR upgrade route is quite expensive at the moment. Still gaming on a Plasma@1080p and have not been convinced to upgrade yet, maybe NEO will push me over. Also waiting for OLED 55" to go for 1500 EUR, as it's also will be requiring a new reciever and other compitable devices for me. Who said console gaming is cheap nowadays.

I can't keep PT if I sell my PS4 before getting a Neo, right? Can I back that up to a USB drive?

Yes you can. I did it when changing over my PS4 HDD. I now have 3 separate back-ups of P.T. (just in case)

Exciting news RE: The Neo. I'm still very much on the fence until I see what it's capable of.

I noticed that Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 is launching on 10/11/2016. They have had a ton of time to work on a NEO mode for this game since last year. It is also one of those games that is driven by its visuals and would probably be looking to make a splash on NEO. Maybe they are launching day one to get in on the hype (assuming they know the release date). Could this mean a possible 10/11/2016 release for the NEO?

It fits the October rumors, and puts it almost exactly one month after the reveal.

That would definitely work for me as I just sold my PS4 to Gamestop earlier today for $200 cash lol.

Yes! Cannot wait for this reveal, exciting times. Just bought an Xbox One S though, so will be interesting how it compares. Really hope existing PS4 games are better on the Neo in some way at least...as I have quite a few still to play due to trying to clear my PS3 backlog right now.

A full meeting to announce an upgraded PS4, seems OTT.

For many (like myself) this is the very first step into 4K (or 1800p upscaled, whatever) gaming. I would have it no other way than a big blowout where developers proudly show what they have achieved.
My wish list:

Witcher 3 patch coming in october @ 1800p/30
Final Fantasy XV 1440p or 1800p @30
Uncharted 4 MP bump to 1080/1440, SP bump to 1800/30 or 1440/60 (choice)
Overwatch patch coming in october 1800p/60

My body has never been more ready. Already saving for a kickass 65" 4K TV. It's a good time to be a gamer.

The plan going forward is more important for me than Neo itself.
I hope they make it clear on the future business model. Are they keeping the traditional console generation? Forward compatible or not on Neo? The future of Playstation?
All that are make or break for me.

You can bet there will be new footage on their graphical showcase games (Horizon especially since it's releasing pretty soon and probably positioned to be a flagship launch window title for Neo), maybe a new game announced even (if I had to go half crazy perhaps this could be a good event to show Red Dead 3, so much smoke on that during E3).

Also I'm expecting either PS4 price drop or PS4 slim.

Not really. This is a big change for console gaming, so it's critical that they spell things out as clearly as possible. Press releases or small chunks of time in conferences won't cut it.

I think they want to make sure they have the correct messaging

PS4 won't be phased out
All games are backwards and forward compatible
Not going iterative model this is just a mid gen upgrade
Show off games that take advantage of the horsepower
Harp on about 4K content
And just another event to show games as they haven't got a Gamescom or PGS conference

Oh come on, are "it's a monster" and "highest quality pixels we have ever seen" not enough for you?

Where is the PlayStation Theater?

It's in Times Square, ex Best Buy Theatre.

So, I just read a rumor in some random Chinese forum, a guy claim his company producing Neo PSU, have double in power rating.
whatever that means...

Double rating... that can be true only if he talks about the power requirement of entire Neo against the power requirement of latest PS4s. CUH1200 takes ~110W of power when stressed, so ~200W Neo would be kinda right and kinda in line with launch PS3.

If I remember correctly, launch PS3s had 380W PSU while the entire system took around 185W when stressed. Since PSU was much stronger, it was able to run cool.

what exactly would "ultra" settings mean?

Cutscene models during gameplay, cutscene effects during gameplay, cutscene shadow quality and other effects during gameplay, more distant LOD distances for everything, better AF, etc.

Will last of us2 be there I wonder

Naughty Dog will not talk about upcoming game project until the promised singleplayer DLC for Uncharted 4 is released. They will maybe mention first details about that.

I think we are already seeing Horizon Neo mode. The game will just be downgraded to work with OG PS4 ;). The Neo could just provide 60fps for that matter
Nope. Horizon was playable on E3 2016, tons of journalist played it on a regular PS4s. It looked and ran great.

Infact, most things FPS related are not GPU bound

Components in consoles have been lacking in balance for a long time. Either the CPU is weak and the GPU is decent, or the CPU is a monster but has to hold up a weak GPU.
Current console gen narratives aside - PS3 was a fairly slow-central core with a DSP array attached on the same die - ie. not unlike the XBOne/PS4 APUs - not sure why one deserves "monster" label while others are on the opposite end.
Moreover, if unbalanced console hw is so common, can we discuss actual examples and some context what makes them unbalanced?
