so what the hell are Atlas cards and did I fuck up by choosing to explore by myself instead of following the big red orb? It's kind of annoying that at outposts and the one space station I've found there is locked doors and I have no idea how to get the keys.

Game is really great so far.

What is the big red orb? I completely missed that and have no Atlas cards either.

For those who keep asking about the AtlasPass - keep playing. I got mine about 10 hours in.

Yep.

Got blueprint for AtlasPassV1 after SIX system warps and at least 10 hours.

...and I only have AtlasPassV1...seeing AtlasPassV3 doors now -.-

Question about the economy -- do the resources that have a plus 100% or 200% trade increase at space stations hold that trade value permanently, at least long as you're in the sector? That seems like the only appropriate way to grind, make room for those specific resources while hitting up landmarks?

Does upgrade tech not work if it's not next to the parent upgrade?

Correct. If you want to boost e.g. mining laser through upgrades you need to place them so they all touch. Upgrades for mining laser work when they touch mining laser component OR other mining laser upgrades that then connect to mining laser component.

YXXXX or XYXXX etc.

Y == mining laser

X == mining laser upgrade

Damn, I didn't know that!

So I've noticed that nearly every single ship I've seen fly into a space station, alter inspecting it, doesn't seem to have a hyperdrive installed. Is there a way to craft one?

This question might be better asked here.

Just to make one thing clear, if I land on a planet that someone else has named or see creatures that someone else has named, I will see the name that person gave to them right? I won't get to re-name creatures someone else has already discovered or planets right? (you can name planets yea? solar systems?)

You can rename the planets and creatures, flora etc you find yourself but not anyone elses and you can't rename them once they've been renamed. Im not sure about solar systems.

There's no way to bookmark systems or planets? I want to start jumping to farther systems, but I don't want to forget where my starting planet is.

I found a planet abundant with calium but I couldn't stay out for long due to how toxic the planet was. My toxic shield would deplete in a minute.

Keep a note where it is, and come back later with suit upgrades.

This is a survival game. It gets tough.

Is that really the case?, why is that not communicated to the player?, and why does the text not say that's the case?

You should get a blueprint eventually to build one. I got mine following the main quest.

I am pretty sure when the servers are online you can scroll through your discoveries in the galactic map. I did this yesterday to go back to a system I had discovered (that's actually how I got the random anomaly for the AtlasPassV1) but I was online. Offline it didn't show the prompt.

What I did was go into the galactic map and press O then press right on the D-PAD and it scrolled through my discoveries.

Only got that working once.

Played it for a few hours last night - it's about what I expected. It was fun exploring and finding cute creatures. Ran into a few hostile creatures but otherwise most alien life has been friendly.

Biggest problem I'd say is lack of inventory space - I've been selling all the neutral stuff because I'm hoping that's just there for selling. Game's great otherwise, but wow do you run out of room fast.

Any way to easily move tech around or are you stuck with where you install it? I'd like to avoid blowing up all my upgrades and then recreating them if possible. Also, I assume this stuff also works the same when it comes to your suit and starship?

Press X on the item you want to move

Hmm, how do I get a jet pack upgrade next to the jetpack when there are 2 inaccessible slots next to it....

Look into if you can break systems for parts and reconstruct them into better spots in the suit. OR just move them, I think you can move jetpack core item.

Does it also work when you stack it vertically? Or just sideways?

Só, after the Atlas quest
should we simply follow the systems the game points out?
it feels like im rushing from one system to the other after those
space pirâmyds with huge balls inside

When you put e.g. Mining Laser, Mining Laser Upgrade 1 and Mining Laser Upgrade 2 next to each other so they touch there will be colored border around them, indicating they are active. Just watched streamer redo his upgrades so they touch and got ~75% performance boost to mining laser.

What I can tell some stuff can be moved around, but by looks of it most just need to be destroyed and reconstructed. Upgrade system applies for both suit and ship, yes.

Does it also work when you stack it vertically? Or just sideways?

Vertical and sideways both work. Even zigzag works. Only thing that needs to happen is that upgrades for Y touch each other and connect to Y from some point.

I asked this in the spoiler thread But haven't gotten an answer yet.
Do you play in 1 galaxy or a whole universe (billions of galaxies)?
I've seen a lot of people write that the end game is reaching the center of the galaxy But clearly remember Sean saying center of the universe. There is a Huge difference.

But every game is a repeat of functions. Why target this game. Do you know what people do in the most popular games, repeat the same loop over and over.

I agree that this is a problem with games in general and especially with triple A games, which is why I often skip those. It is indeed something I don't like in games at all. So I am not targeting No Man's Sky, I am just thinking about buying it on PC at the moment, and right now chances are 99% that I still will because I am just thirsty for a Space game and it looks really nice despite repetitive gameplay.

So I did a scan on the galactic map and totally found a discovered star system by another player about 12 or so jumps from my location. I am going to try to get there and keep scanning and hopefully follow this persons breadcrumb trail of discoveries (and discover some things they may have missed along the way). I'm very early and lack the fuel in my drive to get there fast, but this is pretty exciting to me!

*Edit* This has probably been answered before, but can you remove a waypoint that you set on the galactic map? I set one accidentally last night and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
*Edit 2* Also interesting to note that if you come across someone else's discovery, it gets added to your Atlas with a yellow icon. You can press triangle to "Report this discovery as offensive or inappropriate" too.

Another (obvious) tip that you might not know. You don't need to hold down the R3 button to sprint, you just click it once and you sprint until your stamina is up.

Ran I to frustrating bug where marker for shelter keep getting further away the closer I get to it. So the countdown on screen would track down until it would pause and distance would inexplicably increase again. I had to go to orbit and come back onto planet to fix.
Its not a glitch, you are moving slow af in atmosphere and these planets are huge if you dont go down in the atmosphere the second you get to the beacon using pulse drive its going to take you a long time to get there

The upgrades work wherever you put them, but if they are not touching you dont get the extra bonus

Spoilers:
you all start in the same Galaxy, once you reach the middle you go to a new randomly selected Galaxy

Yeah it took me way too long to realise that one, haha. My barren, toxic world turned out to be full of gold. It's hard to know how much I should mine before moving on.

Not being able to swap something between my exosuit and ship inventory when both are full is a real bummer.

Also, do I always have to pop back up to a space station to sell stuff or are there ways to do that on planet?

So...
Do you have to continually reach the centre of galaxies in order to reach the centre of the Universe?
This may why Sean said it'd be 100+ hours for completion.
Maybe no one has actually completed the game yet?

Some outposts and such have trading terminal in them.
