So actually I'm on this dead planet that has this HUGE caverns, just a few plants and minerals and no fauna at all... BUT the shape of the tunnels... it makes me think that there were giant worms once. I explored for a while looking for them but I didn't find anything, the reason I did this (and it's killing me still) is because this planet has this strange big and loud noises of animals... like whales or cows or jungle noises like orangutans but the planeta is dead! there's no life other than alien explorers in camps... what it's making the noises!? I tried to get close to them but I'm sure I was right next to the source of the noises and it was nothing...

My theory:

1) Animals actually exist and they are hidden, it might be giant worms due to the shape of the tunnels.

2) The noise come from the plants.

3) The planet is alive, maybe it killed the fauna, devour them but it doesn't matter.

4) Ghosts from the former animals, obviously worms.

I'll keep exploring before making my decision about what's really happening in this place.

You know, I feel that you always do the same in this game but it's so full of stuff unanswered that I can't keep doing my own story without anything spoiling it for me, it's fantastic.

no worms no buy

I would laugh if you didn't eat but you were feeding animals in-game :D
That's exactly what happened lol

is there a exclamation point for it? or its just that it needs to be charged? usually there is a hint of what type of element like if its an isotope or silicate etc

The tip says to charge hem with oxide, but when I hover over the canons in my inventory, there's no option to charge them. You know how when you hover over the life support, you can press a button to charge them? Nothing.

So a question, I found a large building with several landing pads around it and an area in the middle with row of seats and a trading terminal. There was a single Korvax there who, after giving him some items "opened the trading vault" for me. What does that mean?

I hate working right now. All i want to do is explore.

Also really excited to see where this game ends up going in the next year. Lots of potential in this already fantastic game.

I love the game, but i totally get why others dont.

Haven't had that interaction before. Maybe he activated the trading terminal? The structure is a normal trading outpost.

Do we know what happens if you upload a discovery while not connected to the network? It doesn't seem to throw an error, so does it just silently fail, or does it retry later? I'm starting to think this is why I can't find my starting system again (as I don't remember what it was called before I renamed it - to something I now suspect never got uploaded).

Space station? There's one per system, and it's on the HUD when you're in space. If you mean like trader outpost, then no, no way to find back.

That's just a sound to indicate there are nearby caves.

Mmmm... unless there's an official statement on this, I won't buy the worst theory of all. The place is full of caves and the noise is heard even inside of them. Nope no no nope. Don't like.

i'm so excited for this weekend

My favourite new planet

4 alien plaques
6 drop pods for Eco suit upgrades
3 alien ruins (one had 8 knowledge stones)
Rare metals
A trading post

Zero animals and no plants though was just a barren rock

How do you know you've found everything? Is there a way to scan the entire planet at once? I haven't quite figured out exactly what those light beam things actually unveil.

What can I say. I've heard people say this several times. The times I've heard them have been when I've been right ontop of a cave system. Might happen inside caves, too. It's just like in Minecraft.

So what was the definitive word on that hyperdrive/preorder ship problem? I'm about 5 hours in with everything except plans to build a new drive. Just start over? I'm weird abou t playing in a weird or limited way, like only grabbing new ships with pre-equipped drives. Only about half of the ones I've seen so far do.

I think I encountered a bug. I found a mod for my mining laser that basically added a gun, but nothing I pressed would allow me to switch back to the laser, even pressing Triangle like the menu suggested.

I ended up deleting the mod, but then my mining tool wouldn't do anything. I've readded again, but once again I can't get it to swap back from the gun mode. Any ideas?

I think I had this happen to me. I had no gun mod though so the mining laser just wouldn't draw. It fixed itself when I restarted the game.

Found a Monolith and my path on the Galactic Map has branched, I have a few more jumps to go to get to some
Atlas something.
Interesting.

Good news is I found a blueprint for Antimatter and the requirements were really common/next to nothing. So to make warp fuel right now all I have to do is buy something that is relatively cheap, and the rest is easy to find. So feeling good about travelling from here on out. I still haven't upgraded my ship or multi-tool much. To be honest I see little incentive to do so until things get much more hazardous.

Which reminds me, I found a monolith/waypoint/something interesting that was in the middle of the sea at the bottom, on a planet that was already -93C and worse under water. Had to let it go, wonder what it was :(

I've heard that repeatedly using beacons to discover colonial outposts may eventually yield the blueprint but it's down to rng. Other than that the only choice is to start over. I totally feel you though, I'm in the same boat. Currently scouring a planet for colonial outposts to no luck yet.

So how are you guys making money? Right now I'm just collecting Vortex Cubes and selling them for 25k a piece. Have 21 slots now in my exosuit, so I can sell like 10 at a time. You can find them in caves.

One other question. Haven't tried to buy a new spaceship yet, but when I do, will everything from my ship be transferred over? I wont have to build another warp drive or anything right? Oh, and my old ship will probably be gone correct?

Thanks man.

I gotta say it's been kind of depressing to see the vitriol from people after the two players couldn't meet up. Worst thing is you can't even talk reason with them. I just can't imagine that kind of person who wishes financial and company ruin due to a feature that was so trivial to begin with and not at all the point of the game, and discount the 5 years of hard work on a game with a scale that no one has attempted before.

Sean's silence (somewhat) on the matter does kinda suck, but holy shit the response to this event are incredibly poor taste.

I know that feeling. Waiting for 4:30pm so I can head home.

...to mine gold. I want a bigger ship, damn it.

I spent 4 hours on this one planet mining gold, upgrading my suit, and ship. Now my suite have 21 slots, I got a new tool gun and a 23-slot ship. Should I move on yet?

I'm just gonna bit the bullet and start over. I feel like I'm ruining the game for myself if I spend too long looking for something I should've grabbed in the first 30 minutes or so.

I love these theories. Really shows how this game benefits from bringing a bit of your own imagination into it.

As someone without a shred of creativity, I would have assumed this:
That's just a sound to indicate there are nearby caves.
And not given it a second thought

Spent a couple hours last night with it, and it's about what I expected.

It's not very fun to play though, and the inventory limit is horrible. I know why it's there but they need to balance out fun with frustration.

Finally got to play it last night & early this morning. First thoughts? I really need more inventory space for my Exosuit. So does my ship. Can you expand the inventory on a Starship or do I have to get a new one? Is the pre-order ship any better? Haven't put the code in yet.

I've been mining a planet filled with Emeril and Titanium deposits as well as Platinum depots. Made about 1.5 million credits in one day.

While still unsure as to whether or not I had the blueprint for the hyperdrive due to the DLC, I started over last night. Only lost a couple hours so I feel better knowing for sure I didn't mess anything up. First starting planet had bad radiation, this starting planet had toxic rain. This game does not want to give me a warm welcome.

I'm still really enjoying it. I haven't wanted to just sit for hours with a game like I have with this. Unfortunately, my life isn't structured for extended game sessions any more.

Ive now found all the blueprints needed to get antimatter and subsequently warp cells.

Your first antimatter
its gifted to you

From who? I'm not at home or else I'd check. My friend said he bought it from a space station. I went there and nothing lol. Waste of 5 minutes!

I found a space station that will buy Dynamic Resonators for +93% of the galactic average. So I empty out my inventory and go to the spot where the ships come in and buy all of the resonators I can for $32,000. Then I go to the space station terminal and sell them for $61,000. Made about $700k in 15 minutes.

This wait for the PC release has been rough. I've been watching streams (mostly of people just starting off, to avoid spoilery things) and am absolutely thrilled with what I've seen! This looks like the perfect game for me. I'm so looking forward to settling down with this game and just being absorbed into the worlds. Looks like the perfect game to settle down with after a stressful day and play while listening to some Coast to Coast AM archives, a LongNow seminar, or podcast.

You've upgraded your suit so many times from one planet? Did you just keep finding suit upgrades or are you allowed to use them more than once?

This game has its hooks in me, man. I drop hours into this game every time I sit down to play it. It's going to be really hard to start over on the PC version.

At first I was going really slow and exploring the shit out of every planet, but... stuff happened and now I'm making 3-4 system length jumps at a time (though I'm still at least discovering the planets in the systems I land in just to claim them and check what resources are there). Sometimes I'll still spend like an hour or so on an individual planet when it seems like they have a lot of Knowledge Stones or particular resources I'm trying to build into, but otherwise I'm chucking myself through the galaxy.

One other question. Haven't tried to buy a new spaceship yet, but when I do, will everything from my ship be transferred over? I wont have to build another warp drive or anything right? Oh, and my old ship will probably be gone correct?

Thanks man.
Lol nope. Make sure you find a ship with a warp drive, if you want another ship, dont use your warp cells as they will be swallowed up by your current ship.

You have to transfer your items from your current ship to the new one. You can also deassemble some parts of the ship to get more items.

Your old ship will be on the planet you left it on, but if you buy a ship from one of the alien species, it will be gone forever.

Try to find a ship with more space and a better warp drive. Save yourself some time. Downside is you still have to repair things if you find it on a planet, if you buy it, they are expensive..very expensive.

So I finally left my starting system because it was clear that I wasn't going to start really getting into things until I followed the tutorial path. Sure enough, as soon as I went to the beacon, I got a hyperdrive blueprint.

Now I'm torn aout whether I should go back to my starting system, I know there is one planet there that I have not explored at all. I know that in the grand scheme of things any one planet or even one system is meaningless but I kind of want at least my starting system to be maxed out.

Also, I need to figure out how to make Atlas passes ASAP. All these locked containers and doors are killing me!

Okay, got my suit to 30 slots and warped to the next system. I'm done for now but next time the aim is going to be getting a ship with at least 28-30ish slots.

I haven't seen those items yet, but thanks for the tip.

You've upgraded your suit so many times from one planet? Did you just keep finding suit upgrades or are you allowed to use them more than once?
Yeah, you can scan for 'shelters' and find a structure where you can upgrade your exosuit. I believe the cost increases by 10k each time you upgrade.

So, any starting tips for us PC players when we finally get our hands on it? Please feel free to spoiler tag anything you feel necessary.

What way do I go about upgrading my exosuit slots?

If you run/fly about and visit the green ? on your screen you will at some point come to a small location which will have a huge version of the small smoking drop pods, you can go inside it and upgrade your suit 1 slot at a time for each one you find. the first upgrade slot is free then any after that increase in price by 10,000 units each slot so 2nd will be 10,000 3rd will be 20,000 and so on.

I haven't seen those items yet, but thanks for the tip.

Shelters! The one thing I never bothered to check out on planets yet. Dammit! =P

Is there any way to improve the walking speed?

It's way too damn slow, and after five hours it's starting to grow intolerable.

I use the Sprint+melee+jetpack combo to get around quick. I've done it so much that it's basically second nature when I walk.
