xbox one took The top-selling console spot For july in the US a.k.a the world

Lol nah. It's pretty pathetic the hypocrisy Bgamer pointed out, and I agree with him.

But let's not pretend that a 10k sales lead with a $100 price point advantage and crazy Amazon sales is some sort of great victory.

I mean, yea, the XB1 "won" a month. But that's such a context less discussion.

If the August NPD comes out and XB1 only wins by 10k despite slim, is that a cause for celebration? Of course not.

I'm expecting the XB1 to win by a sizeable amount.

Let's not move goal posts yet again. Suck it up and move on to Aug. Jesus guys!

You know, a lot of people in here are making a big deal about the low price of the XB1, but the PS4 was the lower priced console for many of it's NPD wins, and I don't recall people using that as the reason for its success.

But of course price is king, you'd be a moron to deny it, but it applies to all products, not just the XB1

So let's just ignore that in most months, the sales advantage of the PS4 has been way higher than 10k per month. That applies to months where it didn't even have any price advantage too.

Do you not see the hypocrisy of your initial post in this thread with the data collected from your prediction? Given your numbers July's results would by definition be a "surprise". Hence this result shouldn't be as terrible as your trying to spin it being given you were proven to be wrong. But it's obvious your not here to speak about numbers.

I'm a hypocrite because i predicted a PS4 win and i said it's a hilarious ( it is ) win for Xbone? Cute!

Man, it's a prediction thread. Your logic is then also applied to those who predicted Xbone win and sales numbers lover or higher than 171k.

What's the problem, man? Why you mocking members who mocked Xbone win in July? OBJECTIVELY, it's a hilarious win. Been cheaper for entire July for about 60-90$ and barely outsold competition for 10k really makes you proud. Cute!
Objectively:
"Not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased: an objective opinion."

We did it Microsoft!

There you go. So do you feel better now?

Don't worry, Sony will release the NEO and it will sell boatloads and win the months. Sony isn't dying or anything like that.

Don't put words in my mouth, I didn't say that. I said price is king. It always has been and always will be. Let's just remember it's not selective.

Ever since MS got rid of Kinect I think the XBO has been the lower priced console for awhile.

There's been some pretty hardcore stock clearance sales on Xbone for the past while so it's not too big a surprise they scraped a lead this month. I mean, not that MS cares, obvs. Sales talk? Psssh... just tell me how many times players held down Y to make Iceman solve a "puzzle" in Quantum Break already.

jk, don't blow your lid at me Bgamer/Pathfinder/gamz/leeh/etcetcetc

So next month is in the bag for MS? Xbox S is doing ok and Neo on the horizon?

I could see XBoneS keeping MS on top for another month or two, but if Neo launches in October it's gonna eat XBOS' breakfast, dinner and lunch in pretty dramatic fashion I'd wager.

About what? I'm honestly not sure why you need to be so defensive about my posts in this thread. They are not exactly controversial. Or is that par for the course when it comes to you and MS?

I'm not the one being defensive.

Like at all. Just calling it as is.

Objectively it's a win. And a good one for future PS4 buyers. Price matters most it seems.

Finally they did it but they were able to make it by the crazy actions. Not just a simple price cut - somebody has written it:

"I bought one of the old 1tb models for $250, got halo 5, rare replay, gears remastered, and ori plus a $50 gift card"

It's not normal. Here in Europe you can buy a ps3 in this price... :D

Exactly, I know people want to see MS at the top of it all again and that's fine but at some point folks have to come to terms with reality.

That's what I don't understand. Xbox One is a complete no-show in Europe, yet PS4 prices seem significantly more competitive over here.

What happened to "sales don't matter MUAs are what matter"?

Or is that only the case during months where the PS4 outsold the Xbox One?
Are they not going to release a presser when something changes?

Good for Microsoft, about time they come out on top again, hopefully this leads to a couple more good months for them.

If you are referring to pre-June 2014... yes PS4 was cheaper and sold way more per month than 10k.

After that Xbone always had better deals/price.

A win is a win ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure why most can't just say GG MS regardless of what they needed to do to win.

Is it a win? It makes no difference to the big picture with the numbers being so small. It might as well have lost by 10k for what this victory means long term. It'll be all down to what the S console can do and in all honesty with a PS4 price cut and the more powerful Neo looming, MS will surely only lose whatever they gain over the 2-3 months very soon after. Unless by some miracle release the S means all PS4 owners jump ship but that's not happening this gen.

But GG MS, they now know they need to be $100 cheaper than a PS4 with games/gift cards bundled in too (maybe the kitchen sink, who knows) to win a month by 10k. It only took several years to get to this point. I bet MS are ecstatic at finding that sweet spot.

So providing some perspective is being defensive? Quit your bullshit, please.

You were surprised you had not seen the argument of PS4 winning months by simply having the price advantage. I replied with that's because price has not been the only reason that PS4 has won the vast majority of months, while here in July price has been the sole reason for the minor Xbox One win.

Carry on...

Yeah sure, why not? MS have been struggling like mad to even get an NPD win here or there so when you are trailing even just a month to feel good is a win.

They've got the S out before Neo and laid down Scorpio plans for the future. An NPD win for a month or two coupled with this probably makes them feel good.

So yeah, when you're struggling and needing a break a small win is a win. MS know the chances of them taking back this generation on sales are pretty much zero but winning back goodwill and some months here or there is what they should focus on in the short term. Weather the storm like Sony had to for many years of the PS3.

MS being still able to win a month is good news for them. Although they needed a hell of a fire sale and a complacent competitor who couln't be bothered to discount their console as well, this win shows that MS is still able to conquer some market share if they offer the cheapest console on the market.

Now that we learned that lesson, let's talk about how Scorpio fits into that.

Simple. People who want the most powerful console on the planet will buy it. People who don't care about that will buy the cheaper console. The same will apply to the Neo. What's the mystery here?

Suck what up? That XB1 won? I'm not denying it.

But I guess all you want to do is talk sales in easy to digest console warrior talk.

Continue doing so, there's plenty of people here to keep you company.

Like I said, with them giving the console away you would HOPE they would win. What is funny and extremely hypocritical is that NOW sales matter, not the MAUs. MS fans have been like little deprived dogs starving under the table for awhile now. Let them enjoy some leftover hamburger

not a huge advantage given they were practically giving away the old stock... but its been a long time since MS were top. with all the news of the slim being sold out i expect the advantage to be way larger next month.

Not surprised they took top spot for July, they were practically giving away regular Xbox ones. Not sure how much profits in there for Microsoft or whether this will impact One S sales in August.

Fine. In next prediction thread i'll predict a small win ( around 20k ) for Xbone and also not so big Xbone sales numbers too. But i hope that Xbone will win by a huge margin and also with a lot of units sold just to be a hypocrite when i will say that Xbone won by i a huge margin even i predicted much lower numbers. There!

XBO sold at an average price of $258 in July compared to $298 in June and the PS4 at $351 in July and $352 in June

They will likely win August too. The XB1 S is doing well in the US. Other places (including the UK) not so much.

Does Amercica only matter on Neogaf? Sony has nothing to worry about as I'm sure the worldwide (as in the place outside 'merica, it does exist you know) sales of PS4 have beat the Xbone easily. PS4 is over 40 million units sold within three years and it will continue to grow stronger with the release of "Neo", price cut of the standard PS4 and PS VR.

For your posts to be justified you would of have to of predicted like Primethius did. He predicted that the X1 would be around 200k+ and it hit a lot less than that despite the fire sale of them. Simple.

Why would Neogaf not care I don't see anyone suggesting that this win actually means anything in the grand scheme of things unless one takes the "We did it" posts seriously. It's a win for the month and congrats to them. Nobody is suggesting that it is significant or game changing really.

Huh? I'm not the one doing mental gymnastics on a month win for a console.

Way too much salt in this thread.

Personally, I'm glad to see MS win a month - it makes for a very interesting thread on NeoGAF. MS fans sure seem to be outnumbered by a fair margin, and it is fun to watch them try to justify things...

They will probably win August as well... which is good, should finally have a good price drop on the PS4 as a result.
