I guess they might have enough sway to negotiate something with Sony considering the turbulent development cycle of this game.

No, it's supposed to go gold early September.
They can delay the game forever and there will always be something in it to keep improving. At some point you just have to put it out there.
The game can't possibly be broken enough to fail certification when even Skyrim on PS3 made it.

I don't buy it, and so shouldn't anyone until it's officialy confirmed. SE usually handles these things with care.

In the west? It was probably as much avoiding the FFXV gorilla as it much as it was admittedly localizing the game. I'm sure localization was probably the main thing but I doubt FFXV would've helped.
Performance is kinda shaky.
We don't know how the performance is right know. Some fans in Japan could play a recent version on PS4, but I don't think anyone made a comment about performance sadly.
And controls are cancer. Like legitimately unfun.
Square was actively demanding feedback on past public demos at events, so I'm assuming they want to fix the gameplay ASAP.

Nah, we do. It was really shaky at E3. Preview impressions reflected that and the MS demo displayed it for everyone to see. There was gossip around town that the game was coming in hot, too. It's not ready.

Except didn't DF say the game was running a good constant 30 fps at E3? The gossip about the game not running well was based on this event that some people got to play the game's first chapter on a older build.

I don't see any outstanding problems with performance here. I mean, if this is delayed then they're clearly not ready. If it isn't, then I guess they are lol. I don't think anyone's in a position to really judge that.
That's an older build that was running on Dev PCs. There is a newer version actually running on consoles that German press and some fans in Japan could already play like 1 or 2 weeks ago.
And the Titan demo had a pretty solid performance.
